Poured on tap into a pint glass. Our server told us that this beer had just gone onto rotation. She also informed us that the beer was best consumed at room temperature to allow the coconut essence to fully release. The beer has the appearance of a typical porter. There is little to no head. The smells are a balanced mix of coconut and chocolate. Unfortunately, the taste is not as well balanced. The coconut is there, but there is not nearly enough chocolate present to warrant a mention in the title. Cocoa and malt in the aftertaste, the beer was a little sharp on the finish. If you enjoy Malibu rum and other coconut drinks, then likely this will be up your alley. Just don't get dragged in by the mention of chocolate.

Appearance: pours a dark brown color with a short 1/2" head.

Smell: roasted malt tones and some dark chocolate comes through to the nose.

Taste: mild roasted malt, chocolate, soft coconut tones, dark fruit, and a mellow bitterness create a nicely flavored porter.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Lightly crisp to start, smoother towards the finish. Long lasting aftertaste as the flavors linger on the tongue for a while.

Overall: an easy to drink porter that has a bit of a unique flavor, and a few can be had in a session.

Single finger tan head with good retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of coconut, vanilla, roasted malts with hint of coffee bean. The coconut is very well applied in the flavor and is best appreciated in the finish. Roasted and chocolate malts base with hint of vanilla. Light to medium body and light to moderate carbonation. Porters can be pretty boring but the coconut is applied perfectly here. Flavorful, drinkable and memorable.
