On tap at the JAX Beach brewpub.
Clear dark copper colored body with a decent head.
Faint mild aroma for style.
Flavor: hits the tongue sweet giving the impression of being overly sweet, but this quickly dies down, ending with a mild bitterness.
Feel:Medium+ body; medium carbonation.
Overall: a tasty version of the style with negligible peat, only faint smoke, and a touch of extra sweetness. High ABV is not hidden.

A very nice appearing brew: clear, reddish amber, and with very good head retention.

The nose is unremarkable to the extent you might be surprised there's a beer in the glass at all. Neutral and bready, with light honey and flower notes if you really, really dig deep.

On the palate, this beer is mostly a mess. Sweet and grainy up front, with banana notes that build throughout. Around the back third, the banana notes come to resemble the artificial flavors of banana ice cream or liquor. Other notes include cloves, honey, and brown sugar.

This doesn't taste like any Scotch Ale I've ever had before. At 8.8%, I can't fathom how subdued the malt bill is to the Weizen-like yeast flavors. It isn't particularly unpleasant, actually, but it is very confusing, and not at all what I was expecting.
