Poured from a bottle bought at the brewery. There's no mention of ABV on the bottle. When I go back I'll ask about the ABV from the bartender.

A: Pours a very slightly cloudy golden-orange color; one finger-width head; medium lacing

S: Smells of candied tropical fruits: mango is most dominant, with notes of pineapple, coconut, and guava. This smells really great.

T: Taste is more bourbon-heavy than the nose lets on. Starts out with a boozy alcohol kick, transitions into a slight fruity sweetness along the middle with flavors reminiscent of pina colada, then finishes with a bitter hoppy/alcohol burn that lingers for a good 30 seconds. There's definitely a good helping of boozy burn in this, and I feel that it needs some more sweetness to balance out that boozy kick that lingers throughout. The flavors are definitely unbalanced, however, the booze bite mellows as the beer warms up, so I would definitely suggest letting this warm for a bit before drinking it.

M: The mouthfeel is a little thin for my preference considering that this is a BBA beer, but it's not bad by any means. The carbonation is good, though I was hoping it would be a little thicker and creamier.

O: This is definitely an interesting beer that I think would do well with about a year on it to let the booze mellow and the candied fruit flavors develop and come to the forefront. I think I'll buy another one of these and let it cellar for a bit.

One of my favorite Engine 15 releases - I look forward to it every year. A top 3 BA IPA for me, and I credit this bottle for turning me on to the style in the first place.

Purchased a bottle of this from the brewery about two months ago. Pours clear and a wonderful ruby bronze color with a nice sized, two finger sized, stiff white head atop the beer. Loads of lacing leaves a semi-transparent film down the side of the glass. The foam remains atop the beer and retains its size of about one finger.

Aroma is filled with bourbon and vanilla, caramel, a light dose of piney hops, oakiness. Very nice indeed. The bourbon is the dominant aroma but there is a good balance between the underlying DIPA and the bourbon barrel aging.

Outstanding balance in the flavor. Again, bourbon is up front, but the finish is filled with a terrific hop bitterness that completely balances out the sweet flavors from bourbon, vanilla, caramel malts, crackers, alcohol, and oak. Extremely well balanced and very easy to drink.

These guys nailed this beer. The DIPA aged in bourbon barrels seems to be hit or miss, meaning it must be difficult to perfect. This one is damn near perfect. Perfect carbonation, very well balanced. Maybe I drank this at its absolute peak, but it was delicious.
