Poured from tap at Coalition brewery.

Zounds! This is a great red ale! This beer is serious business. Pours with a red-amber hue with a good head and moderate retention.

The nose is nice with fresh grass, earth, fruit, and hops. There is also a touch of funk there too. The palate expands the aromas into a magical concoction of red ale deliciousness.

The texture is fantastic! It's probably the best thing about it. It's rich and layered without seeming too heavy. The finish is decently long and enjoyable. This is the best NW red ale I have had. Period.

Worthy! Oh so worthy!

Pours two fingers of head on a cloudy dark straw colored body. The aroma is damp grains and lemon. The taste starts with sharp bitter note, quickly gets malty but not too sweet. Finishes with a slightly metallic bitter note. The texture is crisp. It’s fine, malty ale.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark reddish bronze amber with a two finger off-white head with great retention and lots of lacing. Nice malty aroma; caramel, light biscuit, hints of cocoa and grassy hops. Flavor is caramel and biscuit malt with hints of toastiness, developing an interesting and surprisingly strong grassy hop bitterness that has odd notes of charred coffee and cocoa. Long resiny, grassy hop finish. Great medium creamy body. A very interesting take on the red ale style, pretty much nailing the malt, light stone fruit and light hops at first, but then transitioning into a more hop driven finish with flavors that would not be out of place in a porter. I was surprised and pleased with this and will seek other ales from this brewery.

22oz bottle from "Lifesource" in Salem. $4.99 Pours very dark amber, really brown with a large, rocky lighter tan head. Nice malt driven aromas..chocolate,biscuits, and caramel ..a little earthy. More resiney hop bitterness in the taste but the malts still dominate..caramel,treacle..slightly burnt bread..very nice. Great thick and smooth palate to this one..goes down a treat. Overall excellent amber.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a large 'pint'

Appeared an opaque mahogany with thick, creamy off-white head. Millions of small bubbles all over. Head reduces to fluffy islands and has pretty good lacing all the way down.

Hard to pick out the nose, but as you sit with it for awhile there are some flat/subtle dark fruit and hints of candy sweetness.

I tasted an earthy old-ness, bright fruit, and malt that descends quickly into a pretty unpleasant bitter lingering finish. The beer sat softly in the mouth but was lively on the tongue.

Overall, I could be more impressed. I've had too many NW reds to really feel as if this was deserving of a better rating, and furthermore the bottle seemed past its best by date. To its credit, it got better with time, sips, and warmth.
