Had this at the Two Goats taproom last weekend.

I was trying to figure this beer out...its almost like it has an identity crisis between what we would now consider an English IPA and American IPA. Sticky Nuggs? Maybe its all Nugget Hopped IPA? Didn't ask....I was too busy staring at all of the $1 bills tacked 20 feet in the air on the ceiling.

Their regular IPA is an English IPA no doubt, but this is a tad different. Its tasty, don't get me wrong. But in a top-tier IPA flight this would be lost. Its citrusy in the nose, but muted. The malt flavor is reminiscent an English IPA, but again muted. And the overall flavor is somewhere in between an English and American IPA. It is floral in the flavor (not resinous, or citrus, etc.) but in a way that is perplexing.

If Two Goats is trying to be an American or English IPA, then this is a miss--and I mean that in the best way. However, for what it is....its a tasty brew that really makes one enjoy the scenery of Seneca lake.

I always say, "Brew beer you like, not beer others will like." If they did that then kudos! Its softer hop and malt profile will not overwhelm, and it is a pretty good brew to enjoy on the deck eating one of their signature roast beef sammiches. If they were trying to reach the hop head or reinvent the wheel, then this is the middle of the road, or back of the pack at best.

Last Words? Give it a go and enjoy the view!
