A smooth iced coffee porter brewed with Muddy Dog coffee (Sumatran). We add lactose to round out the mouthfeel and body. This spring seasonal is great bridge beer: hearty enough for spring's cooler temps, but iced coffee-refreshing for the South's warm springs.

Appearance: Pours a medium-to-dark brown body with a medium-small, light beige head.
Smell: Lightly roasted grains, chocolate chunks, moderate coffee nose with some dark-roast bean notes and hint of spice. Has a slight sourish milky tone.
Taste: It's got roasty, toasty, grainy aspects, though none are particularly more forward than another. A little chocolate, light dark fruitiness and that sourish 'wait, don't use that milk' milk hint. Remains sweetish through the reasonably smooth finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Middle-of-the-road.

12oz can. There's a freshness date, but printing errors render it indecipherable
"Smooth, smooth, and smooth. This beer is smooth" the label says. And by golly, this beer sure is smooth.
Dark body, big brown head of foam, smells like coffee. Tastes like a moderately sweetened iced coffee, rounded out with toasted malts. Exceptionally smooth, almost chewy body. It's the perfect beer for a cool spring day. Or any day.

12 oz can with a Nov. 2017 canning date.
Appearance - Pours black and opaque with a large, creamy, beige colored head that has good retention. Moderate+ lacing.
Aroma - coffee with a suggestion of sour cream.
Taste - Largely follows the nose, unfortunately including the mild sour aspect. Hints of chocolate milk and roasted nuts. Quite good excepting the faint sourness. Light sweetness and bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied with medium-low, soft carbonation. Creamy smooth.
Overall - A slightly flawed coffee porter, with a faint sourness that others may not find or may not find objectionable.

I love a good coffee beer but this one falls short for me. It's a lovely rich color; smells of coffee, chocolate, caramel; the coffee flavor gets lost in the sweetness - a bit too sweet for my liking; and the feel is true to the can's boastful "smooth" which maybe is another reason I don't love this beer. It certainly isn't on the list of "never drink again" but I probably wouldn't choose this over other amazing coffee brews.
