Pint pour on draught in a restaurant in Carrboro, NC. It pours a slightly hazy, pale, grassy yellow color with virtually no head or lacing. The smell features a blend of sweet, bready grain with whiffs of lemon peal and spice. It tastes just as expected with a balance of dry barley, sweet corn, crisp tart lemon and lime, and tangy, slightly spicy, hops with clean bitterness from the Magnum. The most interesting facet is the use of Wakatu hops. The mouth feel is crisp and lite with lively carbonation, and it's crushable at 4.5% ABV. Overall, Paycheck is a solid Czech Pilsner. There are certainly better ones out there but this one touches all the bases. It paired will with spicy pulled pork.

Purchased as a single can from The Fresh Market for $1.78. Poured into a pils glass.
L - Clear, bright yellow with a fluffy two-finger pale-white head. Head laces nicely, and stays a while.
S - Grassy. Styrofoam. A generally "odd" smell.
T - Grassy and floral notes come through after a wave of sweet wheat. Again, a slight Styrofoam note towards the finish (don't ask how I know what Styrofoam tastes like).
F - Medium-light body with plenty of carbonation. Refreshing. Slightly oily finish.
O - If it weren't for the persistent Styrofoam note, this would be a pretty alright pilsner. Aside from that odd flavor/aroma, it's definitely drinkable. Probably won't get it again, but I won't turn one down.

L: Pours yellow with a nice head and some nice lacing on the drink down. Nicely carbonated.
S: light malt aroma
T: This has a pleasant taste. Given the use of corn I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did.
F: light medium mouthfeel.
O: While not the best NC Pilsner it is one I would buy again. Important since the others I like are hard to find.
