I actually love basil as an herb, I'm growing some in the backyard and use it all the time. It's so fragrant and flavorful that when I saw this I just had to have it. Even better that it was pretty local coming from Durham, and I'm in Raleigh. When I poured it from can to glass, it poured with a VERY large white bubbly head that dissipated quickly into nothing - it reminded me of soda. The color was a very hazy dark yellow, almost light brown. It smells musty or metallic, tart, with a hint of basil - not an overpowering scent of basil at all. Taste was firstly basil with a background of lemon and a nice wheaty finish. It is extremely carbonated, though - too much for me. Overall I really enjoyed the flavor but the smell, look and mouthfeel definitely dragged down my overall enjoyment of this beer. Miiiight buy again, maybe. I only bought 1 can in a mix-and-match, so I'm wondering if I got a bad batch based on the smell, huge head and color.

Light straw color with a slight white head. Aroma is a distinct herb and basil that is very pleasant. Taste is also a prominent and pleasant herb and basil combination.

Look: It pours straw with a white head. Head retention is excellent.

Smell: It has strong aromas of basil with some earthly and herbal notes. In the background there are some doughy notes and hints of flowers.

Taste: The flavors have strong basil with earthen elements and herbal notes. There is a doughy backbone. The are slight notes of citrus in the background.

Feel: It has a medium light body with herbal elements that carry through the finish.

Overall, it is an interesting saison with a dry finish and very herbal like.

Pours a clearish yellow/gold with seemingly high carbonation (my can may have been shaken up a little bit). Aroma is straw/grassy saison estery smells. Taste is much the same. Very refreshing and easy to drink despite having complex depth of flavors. The basil is subtle enough that it could probably fade into the background of everything else going on if you weren't looking for it.

12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a snifter

This beer pours pale yellow in color with a slight haze. It is topped with several inches of pillowy, white head that leaves some spotty lacing.

The aroma is lemon, tart, and of course basil with some light funk.

The flavor is lemony and slightly tart. The basil is passive and more in the aftertaste.

Light, effervescent mouthfeel

This is a really good saison with basil in it.

Tart, nice basil aromas and flavor. Refreshing. I imagine it would pair nicely with Italian food. I enjoyed it at the brewery. Got some cans of it at the store but it didn't taste as good, maybe not as fresh.

A: The beer is slightly hazy light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a short bright white head that consistently covered the surface.
S: Faint aromas of basil are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has muted flavors of basil.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is an interesting saison, although I would have liked to have seen a little more prominence from the basil in the smell and taste.

I'm trying this at my Bestie's in Charlotte. It poured a hazy yellow with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of basil spice . The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. Nice hints of basil presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

Poured from pounder into shaker, minimal head and lacing. Hazy pale yellow in the glass. Smells of basil. Taste of basil, yeast in the background on this one. Has a nice dry finish.

Poured from a 16oz can into a Belgian tulip glass. Pours a bright hazy gold, but with a thin, head that dissipated quickly. Smell is herbaceous and you can pick up some on the phenols and Belgian yeast characteristics. Taste is much more pronounced and fits the expectations. Belgian yeast, bright citrus, grassy hops, and a basil finish that works well with all of the other qualities. However, the feel is a little watery, and a bit over carbonated for my taste. Overall, this tastes great, but it's just a tad lacking in some other categories. Something I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to someone, but more or less just to try.

Poured from a can into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy pale yellow with a thick white head.

Smell: Basil and lemon citrus.

Mouthfeel/ Taste: Smooth light bodied. Taste of basil with strong lemon sour kick.

Overall: This has to be one of the more unique beers I have ever had. It was quite good considering.

16 oz can served in a lager glass. May 2016 canning date.

The body is hazy and very light yellow with a touch of green. Decent white head on top.

Relatively delicate and clean flavor for style. Vegetative rather than fruity, but not in a bad sense. White pepper. Vaguely herbal rather than obviously basil flavored. Tart aroma.

Medium-light body with medium carbonation.
