Pours an almost clear deep gold/pale amber producing a shy 2 fingers of frothy but shortlived, white head that leaves only a hint of wispy lace. Aroma is a dry earthy, herbal, vegetable, lemon tart & yeasty white fruitiness with a sour background. Taste is herbal, tart lemon & bready maltiness with vegetal hints of roasted sweet potatoes, caramel apple & stewed pears, a faint hint of orange & bitterness in the finish with a vegetable aftertaste that is more sweet than bitter. The soureness found in the note is present. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with low-moderate carbonation, prickly & slightly drawing in the aftertaste. After several tastings of this beer I have decided that I pick up more sourness in this beer than other reviewer indicate exist: very tartly lemon like in spots. It may be that this bottle was old or mishandled. Something does not seem to be "right"about it.

Drinking this at my favorite tap room, Tapped in Greenville NC.
Poured from a tap into a pint glass.
Appears light amber with a nice foamy that dropped quickly to zero.
Smells malty sweet.
Taste follows the nose.
A nice Marzen that I would definitely order again.

Scent of sweet potatoes but no taste thereof. Crisp and refreshing.

A one-half inch almond froth settles to a thick blanket after leaving no lacing. Clear bright copper SRM 13-15.

Sweet malt is followed by an odd sweetness, possibly the suggestion of potatoes. The beer is slightly stale with caramel resembling and American Lager. I also noted light toasted white bread and light soapiness.

The flavor is generally sweet with faint bitterness. Again there is the stale caramel flavor. Light sourdough bread is followed by a long ""beery"" finish.

Fizzy carbonation matches the satin texture and medium body. Alcohol is more prominent than expected. There is also a light astringency.

Carver may well be a transition beer for those who only know macro flavors. While it is a little weird, it is still easy to drink.

Poured from a 16 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear light amber to gold color with a small white head. The aroma is a mild sweet scent. The taste is mild hops with some sweetness, I am assuming this is the yams used to make this brew.

A: Orange amber in color with a light white head.

S: Toasty grain and perhaps a touch of sweet potato, but I probably wouldn't smell that if I didn't read the label.

T: Very lager like... Almost a little dunkel flavor. I like to imagine I can taste the sweet potato, but it comes off as caramel malt.

M: Medium body, with low to moderate carbonation.

O: Good, but nothing special. If I didn't know sweet potatoes were used, I wouldn't have guessed it.

16 oz can served in a lager glass. Oct. 2015 canning date (stamp on bottom of can).

Pours with a slightly hazy, deep amber body topped by a short but durable and creamy head. Full sheets of lacing are left on the glass with each tip.

Lightly sweet with clear evidence of adjuncts that I probably wouldn't identify as sweet potatoes without foreknowledge. An unexpected but acceptable lemony tartness.

Feel: medium+ soft carbonation that seems just right for this medium bodied brew.
