A: Pours a clear dark copper-ish amber in color with light to moderate amounts of gentle visible carbonation rising slowly from the bottom of the glass and moderate garnet red highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a medium thick film covering the majority of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of lacto sourness with a slightly lighter aroma of light fruit/apples. There is a very light aroma of nutty malts.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of caramel and nutty malts with a hint of sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of light fruit/apples and a bit of creaminess. Moderate flavors of tartness and light flavors of oak. No perceptible bitterness is present.

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront and smooth in the finish. Light amounts of acidity present.

O: Not overly sour, pretty light to moderate flavor of tartness/sourness and fairly approachable for people just getting started with sours. Enjoyable and easy to drink with well hidden alcohol.

This beer is bottled now coming in at 5%ABV.Poured into a tulip glass a dark amber brown color with a thinner off white head atop.Funky lactic aromas along with a toasted nut shellnote wich is biger on the palate.Souresh flavors upfront along a bit of toast, that nut shell flavor really lingers in the finish, the sour apples also come into play late.Iam not a sour fan but wanted to try this,I love the brewery but not a fan of this beer.

Curiosity about how this beer would age led me to hang on to a bottle for about 18 months. Deep garnet or chestnut brown in color with ruby highlights and a quick fading head that collapses into a thin, clingy ring of beige foam. Tannic and slightly musty in the nose with a fruity apple cider character and a trace of wood. Medium bodied and smooth on the palate, Common Good is sharp up front with an apple cider vinegar edge. The tartness fades into a pleasant flavor not unlike a red wine that adds to the drinkability of this beer. Interesting, distinctive, and approachable for a sour, but not necessarily one to cellar.

On tap at Bottlemixx on 2/13/13.

According to the description this beer is made from an all-NC grain bill, and it's "quick-aged" in Maker's Mark barrels. Nicknamed the "Kentucky Common".

A - dark brown with a tall off white head that had great retention

S - The nose is pretty faint; I do catch some sour notes as well as some faint malt notes

T - tart, creamy, woody, maybe some light caramel and nuttiness, warming alcohol in the finish

M - smooth, crisp, well carbonated

The maltiness of this beer reminds me a bit of their Working Man's Lunch. It even has a bit of the same creaminess that the yeast lends to that brew. The sour tartness is pleasant and easy to drink without being over the top. My only real complaint is that the flavors didn't blend as well as I would have liked. Nonetheless, this is a pretty creative beer that is definitely worth trying.

Bottle picked up in an IP trade in May of 2014.

Surprisingly dark in color, this almost looks pitch-black. The head is light, foamy and plentiful, easily four-fingers high. Aggressive carbonation shoots upward steadily.

One smell of this and the brain will think cider, lots of apple is present. There's some graininess and aromas that suggest burnt caramel. Not as much going on here as I'd expect/hope.

Wow! This taste is very unique. Definitely heavy on the corn, but also kind of malty and bready. It reminds me of corn pancakes. I get hints of tart apple as well.

I wouldn't call this a sour, as it's only mildly tart, kind of like the driest of ciders. The carbonation is very bubbly, which again suggests a cider, but there's a heavy amount of grain that thickens this beer out.

I would agree this beer is uniquely American. Nothing like it and it has flavors that I very much associate with the US like corn and cider. It's not stunningly good, but it's tasty. I enjoyed it.
