Pours a menacing looking murky burnt orange color with a thinner but sticky white head atop.Tropical fruits and pine resin to go with big sweet alcohol in the nose, again menacing is a good adjective to use here.A blast of sharp grapefruit rind and resinous hops really hit home on the palate before the sweetness from the alcohol hits in the finish, the sweetness is big but the hops are just full on assault,I pick up maybe some hard water as well.Wow this is a beast but it's bad ass I love it,Good to see the "high end" Knee Deep stuff here now in North Carolina.

Sweet jebus, this is a great beer.
The nose, the palate...

Hoppy but not nauseating astringent.
Great sweetness along with high ABV.
This should be a sipper, but nope, half a bomber was gone in 30 min.

Is it the new Pliny? Idunno...Pliny's well balanced. this is more emphatic, more resinous, thicker in the palate. But I like it more than Pliny.

Yes, call me a sinner.

Golden amber liquid with a white head that leaves a nice decoration on the glass. Thin covering not top. Big healthy malt backbone with light caramel, sugary dough, a clean light yeast bodied fruitiness. Some pepper wrapped alcohol. Taste is darn near perfect. A malt construct that is bready and sweet. Caramel and crystal malt blend to create a sweet platform that launches the ginormous hop barrage. Pine and citrus abound. Hop resin and oil coat the mouth. Finish is sharp and oily. Kind of longish with a minty flourish. Feel is full with a mild cream touch. An exceptional beer, how can the booze be this well hidden? A great thirst quencher and all day sipper.

Some beers belie their ABV and IBU levels with a level of artistry that is hard to comprehend. This is not one of those beers. But don't go thinking this means Simtra isn't worth drinking. It's a big bodacious gnarly imperial IPA that Knee Deep has bestowed the nebulous "triple" moniker to. It is dank in every way that beer can be described as such. Lots of allium character, and sticky pine sap in the nose. Massive past ripe citrus fruit notes. Fermented pineapple, squishy mango, cantelope and peach come to mind. Has the alcohol heat I would normally associate with a barrel aged stout. If you want To have your ass kicked by an imperial IPA, this is your huckleberry.

Poured into a snifter with an easy head and impressive lacing. Its smell is more on the fainter side, but what a wonderful aroma. This does not drink like a triple IPA - more that of a double. What first came to mind after the initial few sips was a blend of east and west coast IPA styles. Wow, this is amazing. I can't believe it has 11.25% ABV, because by George the booziness is subdued. Chewy for sure, but incredibly drinkable and so damn tasty. This is the super group of IPAs, as Sculpin, Heady Topper, and similar double/imperial IPA flavors are all present. How I was able to get my hands on this brew in a Wakefield, MA liquor and beer store is beyond me. I am just incredibly thankful.

64 oz growler poured into a pub-style pine glass.

Appearance
Golden-yellow with 1 finger of loose, off-white head that dissipates quickly. Good clarity with light carbonation.

Nose
Candied orange, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, pine, and candy sugar.

Taste
Pine sap, pineapple, dank greens, and bright florals. Candied orange, grapefruit zest, and lemon pith. Candy sugar backbone with suggestions of caramel. Lingering notes of pine needle and zest. A good punch of bitterness hits the back end.

Mouthfeel
Medium-plus bodied, oily, smooth, semi-dry and moderately bitter.

Overall
Hot damn, the 11.25% abv is hidden well! Very west coast, very dank, very good. This is up there with the best of them.

Pours a bright gold color with remarkable clarity. Head is off-white and about 2 fingers high. Moderate amount of lacing left behind.

Intense hop aroma. Pine first, earthy and dank. Lemon, grapefruit, and bitter orange. Pepper and cut grass.

Taste like the aroma except even more. Hop assault on the tongue. Dank, pine, resin, and peat-y earth. Citrus fruit next, bitter and sharp. Malt is overpowered to start but peeks through at the end. Caramel and biscuit.

Medium body with medium carbonation. Bitter, sticky, oily mouth feel. Lingering pine and bitterness.

A hop heads delight. Massive in your face pine and citrus. Too much on the pine for me to really love it.

This is a hop bomb, with a huge abv that is barely noticeable by taste. But once you start drinking the abv starts to hit you.

Probably the best triple I've ever drank

Awesome beer

Just excellent. For an ABV this high, you would expect a lot more undesired sweetness. Not the case. Very well balanced. Too bad it costs north of $10/btl.

A pretty deep amber color with a scent of pine, grapefruit, and cut grass and an earthy hoppy resin taste that lingers. This release from Knee-Deep is a crowning achievement for an upper-NorCal area containing lackluster breweries (especially the Tahoe area which is filled with shitty people working at shitty breweries that only capitalize on know-nothing tourists who probably could be served piss and think it's good beer). But for sure, this quality brewery establishes itself as a leader in its hometown with a quaint setting that positions its beer at the center. If I'm ever nearby I enjoy visiting its headquarters and downing a growler or two before challenging wannabe Portland-hipsters to cornhole and impressing their girlfriends who are not familar with what a real man looks like. I force others to fill up my growler, at this point the establishment has refused to serve me, but I am King when I am here. My shirt's off, my pants are down, and I'm dancing on picnic benches yodeling (not exactly sure why) the top five billboard hits at the time. They try to stop me but peasants have no command over a King. I usually end the day by finding the vat full of newly-completed Simtra and dive right in. It is alwasy fresh, still warm, hot even, and the burns serve as merely more mouths to drink this beer into.

Excellent beer! I've had Pliny the Elder on tap at Russian River and this is as close to that as I've had. Light amber color and thin head with some nice lacing on the glass. Strong initial taste with a smooth finish. 11.25 abv!! Overall a great beer! Expensive but worth every penny.

Poured from a bomber, dated May 4th 2016. Nice medium head of mixed-sized bubble head, fades to a coating within 90 seconds.
Brilliant gold color, shines in the sun that just came out from a storm while I'm writing this.
Smell is piney-dank, subtle, but not weak.
Taste is great, unless I am mistaken, the hops and malt hit in revers of other IPAs. Bitter in mid mouth, sweet at the end.
Overall a pretty good beer.
