Wow this is bitter! Incredibly resinous, biting bitter grapefruit oil, and sharp pine smack you in the face. There is a underlying medley of tart pineapple and mango. Aroma is stanky, danky, astringent pineapple, grapefruit peel and pine. A perfect looking unfiltered pale ale - opaque tangerine orange with a high alc looking large bubble white foam head. Feels refreshing, medium body. Overall this is a fantastic, bitter bomb of a 'triple' IPA.

Off-white level foam, copper body, excellent clarity.

Aroma has a truck load of caramel. Some candy sugar.

Huge sweet malt foundation. A produce department of fruit. Bitter snap at swallow, that grows exponentially in the afterglow.

Smooth, slick, thick mouthfeel.

Not the equal of Ruination, but following in its footsteps. I could have this again.

Bottled 7/4/13 no hints of age drinks super hoppy. Imperial pint glass full of this liquid glory is a happy one, pours deep copper slightly hazed with hop proteins, full thicket of cream head. Aroma is full of dank hops, including tropical fruit notes, big citrus and grapefruit tones, with pine and herbs. Drinks satisfyingly smooth for such a big beer, the 11.3% abv provides a decent alcohol burn and the malts here bring candied coated hops to mind, very big intense flavors not for the beginner in the realm of hops. This beer coats the palate with honey coated hops and big layers of bitterness and hop flavors, citrus mango and pine needles with a hint of herbal fresh mint leaves. Very tasty, the mouthfeel is big bodied with resinous hop oils, leaves the bitterness on the palate, but the carbonation level is so smooth it adds a bit of creaminess to the texture. It's like a hop milkshake, overall I'm a fan my first go round with Knee Deep definitely worth seeking out some of this big bad triple IPA.

Bottle to Rock Art Pint Glass

A:Golden honey colored with a little bit of orange. There is a white head that lingers for a pretty good amount of time. It is clean and totally translucent.

S: The malt is strong here I can smell the hops but they are definitely in the background its not bad just different for an Imperial IPA its almost nutty smell to it

T: not a malt bomb but close I know it is called hop shortage so expected more malt but it is not balanced there is some hop flavor and a little bit of resin taste but the malt is nearing over powering. There is a hop bitterness in the finish, but not overwhelming. It is not bad its just not my style

M: Smooth very oily and thin but extremely drinkable goes down like water which is impressive for the fact that there is 11.3% as the alcohol is completely unnoticed. There is some resin and stickiness to it but not enough to be it classified as a resiny ipa

O: I don't like maltly IPAs intact I usually hate them as I think hops are the only thing that should be powerful in an IPA but this one of the first malty ipas i have that I actually enjoyed and it is very impressive beer considering the amount of taste and high abv. Its worth a try for sure especially if you like malt.

Appearance: pours an orange color with a big fluffy 2" head that lasts a long time. Thick lace paints the glass.

Smell: mild citrus aroma.

Taste: caramel, oranges, a bit of grapefruit, pear, and a decent bitterness, Alcohol is warming but barely noticeable in the flavor.

Mouthfeel: medium-heavy in body. Lightly crisp throughout with some dryness late.

Overall: a slower sipping DIPA that is mildly refreshing but flavorful.
