a: dark copper in color with a thick, dense cream-colored head that shows good retention and heavy lace

s: mild bready pale malts with a lightly sweet maltiness and delicately spicy rye nose, some earthy, leafy hop aromas

m: smooth body ranging around light-medium, delicately carbonated

t: bready pale malts with a light malty sweetness gracing the middle, followed by spicy-sweet rye, and an earthy, balancing hop bitterness in the finish

d: a modest but carefully crafted rye, and tremendously drinkable, really great to find simple, balanced beers like this

On cask at the brewpub on 11.24.2010. Served in a pint glass.

The color is dark amber with a two-finger white head and some mild lacing. The retention isn't the best. The nose brings some amber malt as well as a slight earthy presence. There's also a bit of zesty rye. The nose is pretty mild altogether.

The taste has some characteristics of biscuit and amber malt with a bit of a dry finish. There are some light earthy hops as well, accompanied by a slight bitterness. In the end, this one is a bit plain but was fairly drinkable and I really enjoyed the finish.

Beer on tap at Mad Fox of all places.

Beer is light brown and completely clear, served way too damn cold, forms a rough looking head of medium bubbles, moderate carbonation, some lacing. Looks good.

Aroma is a little odd, it smells almost like a Maibock, it has this graininess to it that is a little off putting.

Beer is medium bodied and has this mild rye to it the late acidity from the grains leading into an aftertaste is pretty off putting. I don't think I'll venture here again.
