Had lunch with some friends at Mad Fox today, my first trip there though I've tried a few of their beers.

The set up is very nice and modern looking, with a long bar on the left side, and plenty of room for tables and booths throughout. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful, and the food was good (we got fried pickles and I had a brisket sandwich).

Moving onto the beer, they had about 10 beers on tap and 1 on cask, and you can get 4 4 oz. pour flights for $6, which is what I did. I tried their ESB, Oatmeal Stout, Snapped IPA, and their new wheatwine. While nothing blew me away, they wewre all very solid. I also picked up a growler of their new Belgian strong ale, which the menu said uses the same strain of yeast that Duvel uses; looking forward to trying it.

Overall the food and beers are very solid and it's a great setup. I'll surely be back more than once.

The vibe and decor of the place are the traditional American brewpub - decent sized restaurant area and a large bar area. I visited at just about lunch time on a Saturday and there were a number of tables filled, I wouldn't have really called the place packed... The crowd included a number of couples, a number of families with really small children (under 2), and a couple of very large parties. The music was played at a reasonable volume so it was easy to carry on a conversation and in the bar area they had a couple of TVs tuned into sports (college basketball).

The beers were well poured in a proper glassware type for the style, at a decent temperature, and with a reasonable amount of head. I saw the use of tulip/snifter, pilsner, and imperial pint styles of glasses.

The bartender that served me was friendly, talkative, and knowledgeable about the beers. The bartender was attentive without being overbearing and my drinks/food were served reasonably quickly. I met the owner/brewer as well and he was quite friendly, offering some suggestions for other places in the area to check out if I had some time.

They had about 8 different styles of beer available - mostly English and American with a couple of IPA, ESB, APA, Oatmeal Stout, and at least one saison.

I had a brunch offering which was pretty good - the eggs benedict was enjoyable with the pork belly, the Hollandaise was quite good, and the eggs were poached to perfection.

Very nice restaurant and brewery. The food is excellent. They've paired down the menu since I was last there, but still a good variety. The beer is always good. Service is nice. the building if clean and in a good area. Nice place!

Great place to have a few good beers for happy hour! They do have some quality beers, the hummus appetizer is very tasty and the Mad Fox burger was phenomenal!
