One of the best brewpubs that I have visited. The food and the beer are both excellent. Although it is fairly large, it can get crowded, for the right reason. Their IPAs and Stouts are outstanding.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Not too busy, sat at the bar. Bartenders were helpful enough. Like the sampler option, reasonable priced at $7.40 for four 5-oz pours.

I used to love being able to walk to Mad Fox, which opened a little before we moved to Falls Church in 2011. While the food has evolved (bring back the old Bitterballen recipe!) to make it a great place for pizza and brunch, the beer is the real selling point. Their Kellerbier, Orange Whip, and Wee Heavy are all superlatives for their style. If festivals are your thing, they hold good ones once a quarter or so that take up the outside plaza and bring lots of brewers and activities. Even after moving further away, this is still our go-to spot for happy hours with friends and co-workers.

The vibe and decor of the place are the traditional American brewpub - decent sized restaurant area and a large bar area. I visited at just about lunch time on a Saturday and there were a number of tables filled, I wouldn't have really called the place packed... The crowd included a number of couples, a number of families with really small children (under 2), and a couple of very large parties. The music was played at a reasonable volume so it was easy to carry on a conversation and in the bar area they had a couple of TVs tuned into sports (college basketball).
The beers were well poured in a proper glassware type for the style, at a decent temperature, and with a reasonable amount of head. I saw the use of tulip/snifter, pilsner, and imperial pint styles of glasses.
The bartender that served me was friendly, talkative, and knowledgeable about the beers. The bartender was attentive without being overbearing and my drinks/food were served reasonably quickly. I met the owner/brewer as well and he was quite friendly, offering some suggestions for other places in the area to check out if I had some time.
They had about 8 different styles of beer available - mostly English and American with a couple of IPA, ESB, APA, Oatmeal Stout, and at least one saison.
I had a brunch offering which was pretty good - the eggs benedict was enjoyable with the pork belly, the Hollandaise was quite good, and the eggs were poached to perfection.

Very nice restaurant and brewery. The food is excellent. They've paired down the menu since I was last there, but still a good variety. The beer is always good. Service is nice. the building if clean and in a good area. Nice place!

It's a bit of a cross-town drive from southern Alexandria to western Falls Church -- a half-hour to 45 minutes in rush hour traffic -- but well worth the trek. Orange Whip is one of the reasons. I'm not all that knowledgeable about beers -- I'm a lot more familiar with single malt Scots whisky - but could gladly drink Orange Whip all night long. And that's just one of the many great brews at Mad Fox. The beers are outstanding, and the food is generally out of this world. In the four years since it opened, Mad Fox Brewing has become the place we visit most often. I don't see that changing anytime soon!

Went here while on Vacation, and I'm so glad i did. Great food paired with equally great Beer. The waitstaff was friendly and more then happy to answer my questions about the beers and Casks.

Friendly staff, good food, and great beers. They also have half price growler fills on Tuesdays. Hard to beat that.
