12 oz bottle was poured into a nonic glass.
Appearance: A two finger billowy head was poured that reduced to a puffy layer. It is hazy pale orange color with good vision of tiny bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank too.
Smell: Vanilla, bready wheat, pilsner, pale, yeasty esters, and some spice.
Taste: Sweetness comes through. Spices are hard to notice. Some tart wheat flavors too.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, refreshing, crisp, a little, slight bitterness, and low to medium carbonation.
Overall: This beer seems a bit sweeter than most witbiers and it could be a little lighter. Still decent though.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on February 13, 2014.
It pours a slightly hazy pale yellow but the clarity is better than most wits. There is a quick lasting white fizzy head.
Something about this aroma is way off. Whether it is the spice mixture or what but I got the distinct impression of big spray. Pale malts and citrus were overpowered by it.
Light zesty body.
The taste has a toasted malt note, lemongrass, coriander, and maybe ginger with a muted by dry finish. But unfortunately the aroma really took control of everything and it was hard to enjoy.

Pours a good finger of off-white head over a straw body. Lacing tries for a split second, then tumbles back down. Beer is hazy, but no sediment is noticed.
The entire nose seems subdued. Tired earthy/gardeny hops with a lackluster spice profile. Yeast is also quiet and a bit of sweetness from the malt almost seems fake.
Yeast, cracked wheat and a bit of light malt start this off. Spices seem a little more impressive in the flavor, but the hops are still subdued.
Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied. Drinks like a lawnmower beer with a dry finish.

12oz bottle, another in a swath of identical-seeming brews recently imported into Alberta from the same contract brewer, which appears, on the ground and behind the paperwork, to be Genesee.
This beer pours a hazy medium golden straw colour, with three fingers of puffy, silken foamy ecru head, which leaves some low-lying coral reef lace around the glass as it steadily recedes.
It smells of wheaty, somewhat acrid pale malt, muddled coriander, overripe lemons, neutered yeast, and a bit of herbal, weedy hops. The taste is softly sweet bready malt, with a touch of doughy pastry character, tame breakfast cereal wheatiness, ethereal savoury spice, a stale orange fruitiness, and more sedate herbal, earthy hops.
The carbonation is quite laid-back, and hardly noticeable, the body medium-light in weight, and actually pretty smooth. It finishes mostly off-dry, the wheaty, sugary, and fruity malt holding on the tightest, as the fruit and hops melt away into the approaching night.
A beginner's witbier, and agreeably wrought at that rate, with very little to none of the, well, not quite skank, but rather cheapness of its familial ilk. Too bad it's 5 bucks a sixer more expensive than Hoegaarden around here, which leads to the obvious question - why bother?
