Visited on 8/12/11 and 8/14/11, while coming and going from the Entiat River valley (this review from notes taken 8/14/11):

A - It depends on the day. Friday lunch-time was laid back, half-full, and great to enjoy a pint and sausage on the upstairs deck. Sunday, was jam-packed with hustling and bustling tourists. Not a German beer garden, but an American take on one. That said, it's cozy, fun, and a great place to hang out in the heat and shade and just enjoy Leavenworth.

Q - No touristy safe-haven beers, which is nice for me, however, a gentleman in line asked the barkeep for a recommendation because he "only likes American beers". All decent microbrewery offerings on tap.

S - They were quite busy, but friendly. The barkeep was able to make recommendations and correctly describe the beers, the food counter folks were friendly and fun, and the sausage grill guys were so busy they could barely look up.

S - Though Munchen Haus used to have far more variety on tap, most of the offerings were Icicle Brewing (just up the street and owned by some of the same folks), with one Iron Horse tap and one Alpine tap. There were also a half-dozen types of beer in the cooler, some German imports, others American micro offerings.

F - Excelletn quality, though not a lot of variety, basically a dozen types of sausage, pretzels, chips, and potato salad. Plus there's about two dozen types of mustards and sauces to spice up your wurst, with pickles, onions, and sauerkraut as well.

Overall - a fun place to grab a pint and a delicious sausage and people-watch, or just sit on the upper deck and stare at the mountain vistas. However, it's not geared to beer geeks, so don't expect fantastic selection or top-notch beer quality. A must try if you roll through Leavenworth.

Great place for brats when in Leavenworth, WA. Good beer, great food. The line may be long, but it moves quickly and it's worth a little wait. Excellent apple cider sauerkraut.

Agree with other reviews, go for the wurst and selection of mustards. Also had excellent jalapeƱo peppers-mild and crunchy.

Depending on what you are looking for, the vibe is going to be different for everyone. For me, there was not much of a vibe, and this was our third time visiting the place. This is a bratwurst joint that serves beer and has a nice set-up for eating and drinking outdoors. The seating area is all outdoor, and is nicely set up. There is a gas fire pit for warmth. The quality of what they have to offer is very good. The service is as expected. The selection of beer is decent, and the food selection is good. The food is great. This is a must stop at joint if you are in Leavenworth, WA.

I think a fresh review is in order here...

Leavenworth is what it is - charming, gorgeous, touristy, crowded, etc.

Munchen encompasses all of those things. A charming atmosphere both bathing in the fiery sun and fully shaded tables. A beer garden that wouldn't just "hit the spot" after a long hike in the icicle range, it would practically murder it...

The beer selection has changed from the prior reviews. With the emergence of Icicle Brewing Co (very good), this place is practically a satellite location. There are 7 Icicle taps and 3 or 4 other craft taps, along with some import bottles. I don't know what else one could expect to find out here, so I'd say the selection is pretty damn nice.

The food is really, really good. That is, if you like sausage and pretzels and nothing else. If you don't like these things, well, then sucks to be you I guess.

I had a bratwurst and a pretzel. Both were exceptional. I love mustard - it's actually a little over-the-top. They have at least a dozen local mustards, a few of which are made with Icicle Beers. I tried 6 of them - all great.

Sunshine, a fully loaded bratwurst, a pretzel, and a pitcher of Icicle IPA. Don't miss this place.

A: A busy place with an open beer garden, constant line. Lots of tourist but then again so was I. Spraying mist all over to keep people cool outisde. Lots of people in the beer garden hanging out, but not a beer garden per say like I saw in Germany.

Q: Good, beer was of quality, nothing bad I can say

S: Ok, not real problems and prompt at the bar within the beer garden

S: Some Elysian beer, Leavenworth, Dechutes, some German lagers too, Mac N Jacks

F: No try on the food, I did not stay to long.
