Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of white head that settles into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: A very juicy and earthy hop forward aroma with a scent of citrus fruit and grass. Upfront citrus hop presence with a scent of orange peel, melon, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, tangerine, and honeydew. Earthy and floral hop scent of grass and pine. Subtle malt hints of caramel, grains, and yeast. A very solid hoppy aroma.

Taste: Like the smell indicates, a very juicy and earthy hop driven taste with notes of citrus fruit and grass. Big juicy presence of citrus with notes of grapefruit, orange peel, melon, pineapple, tangerine, lemon, and honeydew. Floral and earthy hop notes of pine and grass. Background malt notes of caramel, grains, and yeast. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and fairly oily and drying.

Overall: Another very good hoppy ale from Toppling Goliath. Good mix of citrus fruit flavors.

650ml bottle served in a Toppling Goliath snifter glass.

Pours an hazy copper-orange hued body, one finger offwhite head with fine, reticular lacing and average retention. Smells of tropical fruit up front, a bit of grain and caramel, a bit of floral aromatics and resin. It's pretty nice, nothing that hasn't been done before but it's quite good. On the flavour side of things, it is a smooth drinking experience with a bit of tropical fruit up front, a bit of floral aromatics in the middle mixed in with a nice grainy sweetness that isn't too evocative but provides just enough balance. Towards the end, it seems to "drop off" in the sense that the aromatics from earlier in the palate slowly fade out and aren't replaced by something substantial. There's maybe a little bit of lingering spice on the finish. It's still delicious, that being said. Mouthfeel is medium-lighter bodied, a bit undercarbonated. Smooth and crisp, not too bitter at all. I think this experimental hop is a a fairly well-rounded hop; it isn't too juicy or bitter but delivers a bit of both. Probably worth using in conjunction with additional hops to make for a more extensive drinking experience.

This beer was bottled 10/22/15 and purchased at Casanova liquor, Hudson WI
Look: the beer pours a nice orange color with some haze and a white head. The brew is definitely not translucent and has some nice carbonation bubbles, but the head dissipates rather quickly, leaving only lacing.
Smell: the hops shine here: fruit (my ability to identify is meh) but I'm picking up mango I believe.
Taste: the taste follows the nose: strong tropical fruit with light light bitterness, and a nice orange tasting finish.
Feel: I love the feel on this beer. It's a moderately full feeling beer and a mild dryness
Overall: considering this was bought just based on the brewery, I'm damn shocked at how good this is. I like it more than PseudoSue, or maybe I'm crazy.

Poured from bomber to stemless wineglass. Straw colored with minimal white head that quickly fades. Smells dank but the flavor does not deliver. Fine beer but would not go out of my way to drink again.

Nice pale ale with peppery spices and a bit of tangerine/peach on the finish. Orange with big white head. Interesting, but not mind blowing.

10/22/15 on bottle, poured into teku glass

appearance 4.75
It has a murky dark orange color with nice head and lacing. The clarity is a bit unfiltered/hop haze.

smell 4.25
Orange is the dominant fruit, slightly floral, and the malt comes through nicely adding a bit of earth.

taste 4.25
Follows TG’s standard of balance with the malt emerging to the forefront at mid-palate. Finishes bright and citrusy with bit of biscuit to round off the edges.

mouthfeel 4.75
Good carb, medium body, clean finish and crisp finish. Everything it should be.

overall 4.5
Another well-crafted pale ale from TG. It’s easy-drinking and well-balanced, and makes you want to go back for more. Sometimes the malt distractingly jumps out but the harmonious balance on the finish makes up for it. I wouldn’t mind landing a 6pk 12oz if it ever existed :P

Thanks to Jeff for this one. 22oz. bomber into a Grrrz teku. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a foamy, 2 finger powder white head with good retention. Beer is a clear grapefruit. Lacing is thick and layered with outstanding stick. Excellent by all accounts!

Nose is citrus, pine, passion fruit and mango. A nice tropical fruit aroma combined with a grassy, piney hop bitterness. Mildly aromatic.

Opens citrus, starfruit and pineapple. A big malt backbone is prominent throughout and pushes the tropical fruit flavors forward. Some light pine and resin hop bitterness lingers in the background but is only really apparent near the finish. Sweet, fruity end with just a touch of hop bite in the aftertaste. Solid.

Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Quenching and smooth in the mouth and goes down prickly and refreshing. Really drinkable.

Great flavor for a pale ale that drinks more like an IPA. Certainly better than the other Xhops beers in the series.

650 mL bottle. Clear orange. Smells of pungent orange and grapefruit. Sweet smelling, too. Taste is a little bit less bright. Orange peel. Sweet pale malt. Light grain. Candy sweetness in the back end. Light body. Not the most exciting variety of Xhops, but even a mediocre beer from Toppling Goliath is better than most.

IMO the best balanced XHOPS offering to date. Floral, fruity but with a nice crisp bitterness from the hops.
