Notes: Amped up with an electric selection of hops and a sunburst color that would give Les Paul all the vibes; X-Hops Gold is a melodic blend of Strata, Citra, Simcoe, and Sabro hops. This super-saturated haze for dayz shredder has really struck a chord with us. Rock on.

I tried this beer at the brewery. It poured a hazy yellow with white head and that left some lace. The scent had tropical fruit peel notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with tropical citrus presence and a nice fruit peel spice highlight. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

2021 batch. 8.4 % abv.

This is a completely different beer than the former Xhops. It’s now essentially a hazy DIPA, rather than the classic APA it once was. Pour is turbid with stiff white head. Aroma is reminiscent of pineapple. Flavor is apricot and mango, very tropical. Overall, excellent!

Pous extremely foamy and cloudy. Lots of yeast in the bottom of my glass. Looks like an overcarbonated new england IPA with lots of murky turbidity. Smell is very nice - citrus hoppy with fresh tangerine smell. Taste is instantly grassy & spicy hops with a range of tropical fruit and citrus rind. For me, the flavor profile leans to the bitter side with little malt flavor - a little too one-note for me. I’d like more juiciness, more tropical, less carbonation, less grassy and bitter on the palate. I usually love TG beers. This one is not my favorite.

No bottled on date.

Deep hazy orange color, a good two fingers of frothy white head and thin, spotty lace.

Lots of honey on the nose, hints of hop and citrus peel. Similar nose to Pseudo, but sweeter and more pronounced. Much more malt present as well.

Lots of malt flavors hits right away. Sweet citrus peel, hints of grapefruit bitterness. Clearly a pale, but without that strong pale bite. Lager qualities as well, with the honey returning with hints of corn grit as well.

Good body, slightly sticky m. Crisp, slightl dry. Very clean.

Hazy, apricot yellow body; thick, sticky, sculpted head. Powerhouse aroma full of pine, citrus and heady floral notes. The taste starts with a big citrus juiciness; grapefruit; ends with a slowly developing but ultimately intense hop bitterness on the back of the palate. Heavy body; coarse and prickly; starts sweet and juicy and finishes with a stupendous hop dryness.

A beer to seek and love. It's damn good...

Hazy golden color with off-white head. Aroma has dank, grassy and vegetal hop notes. Taste is really hoppy and grassy, dank, a bit bitter on the finish. Medium body and carbonation, feels quite soft and smooth. Really hoppy and easy drinking.

It pours a slightly hazy gold with a nice white head.
The smell is very nice with mango, cannabis, watermelon, wheat, bubblegum.
The taste follows with some resiny hops. Very balanced, not overly bitter. Very well crafted. Quite dank. Some sweetness but not that much. Some candied grapefruit notes. Some white grape skin, some lychee. Wheat. Pine needle
This is really crisp. The mouthfeel is semi-dry with a low carbonation.

Overall it's a very enjoyable pale ale. Very much in style

Pours an unclear light orange, with fluffy head.

The smell just packs all the fruit in there, apricot, peach, citrus mango... delicious!

And the taste... well, damn if this isn't one of the past pale ales I've ever had. Tons of tropical fruit and just a perfect bitterness. This goes down almost too easy!

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

World. Class. Pale . Ale.

22oz bottle; huge rocky off-white head holds incredible retention leaving thick chunky lacing down the glass as it rests atop a hazed golden colored ale. Tropical aroma of mango, passion fruit, and lemon-lime gets bolder as it warms. Hop forward and bitter with notes of passion fruit, orange & grapefruit zest, piney mango, and a nutty light caramel malt backbone. Full body, moderate csrbonation, very resinous yet creamy and smooth, finishing bitter with pine lingering. This grew on me the more I drank it. I'd say let it warm to 45-50°F or so before cracking it open. The aroma was definitely more bold after warming, and the malt characteristics seemed to come out more as well. Always awesome to try anything from Toppling Goliath.

Look, this is a great beer. But I never thought I'd see it sit so long on the shelves here in Chicago, which IMHO does mean something. Not as good as Teal or any of the Psuedo Sue releases, but very good.

It has been an awfully long time since I have had a beer from this series, and while they keep getting deeper and more obscure with the hops (I wish we knew what the heck these were ever…), the beers themselves keep getting better and better. This one seems to tease citra, but it’s a lot more than that alone. Murky pale on the pour, attractive only by new standards, heady and all, and dripping dry hop leafy freshness, but still sloppy by the classic west coast mores. Living and growing in the nose though, again citra and mosaic types, compelling to an extent, but less so than some of the original x hops colors that my palate recalls. These are all supposed to be experimental right? Well, this seems too familiar, and if this is a hop breed or blend that is supposed to shake up the world, its not going to. That’s said, its an excellent and well refined complexion and it works well in this simple American styles hoppy brew. It’s the pineapple and kiwi fruit and tangelo aspects that get me off, this sings aromatically, and the taste isn’t too far lagging, its so fresh and fruity, and regardless of the (very appropriate and tasty) grain base, this still offers something a little bit unique. I really like the soft texture and the glowing freshness of these hops, mango and juniper and female essence, some kind of fragrant lotion from the mall in my youth, embodied in this liquid. As good as its ratings, but without a unique contribution by my tastes. I thought this series was supposed to be brand new palate challenges…

Got this in a recent trade. My first beer from Toppling Goliath. While it is not on the level of the hoppy beers so readily available to Me in the northeast it is still excellent! Glad I got to try it.

Pours mostly translucent orange with a nice finger of head and good lacing retention. Floral hops, honey, and nectarine on the nose, with the addition of red grapefruit pith and cantaloupe on the palate. Interesting and unusual, but with a strong bitterness that I'm not sure I need to try again.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this in the cooler at the grocery store the other day. This sample was just under a month past the bottling date. Poured from 22-ounce bomber into a short lager flute. Hazy. pale yellowish orange in color, with pinkish orange highlights and a long-lasting thick white head that left some nice spotty lacing. Big aromas and flavors of grapefruit, orange, citrus zest, pine, and tropical fruit, with a light malt structure that provides nice body and balance. This has the perfect amount of bitterness and a dry finish that leaves you wanting another sip. This is perfect with food, as well as a refreshing sipper on its own. They don't get much better than this.

Poured from 22oz bottle into glass. Bottled on date of '10/19/17'. ABV not included on label.
Murky, orange colored body. Lots of white creamy head, extensive lacing coverage.
Tropical fruit, piney, peach aroma.
Somewhat dank, tropical fruit taste, with more pine bitterness at the end.
Slurpy, fuller mouth feel.
Beers like this expand the bounds of a pale ale. Not too sweet, not too bitter, but showing aspects of both.

Best IPA next to HOPSMACK! from TGB IMO. (I haven't had King Sue yet, tho)

I like that this is a livelier version of a super buttery and heavy NEIPA. Flavors include smoothness at the tongue, slowly develops into a deep, warm fruit-jammed zing, and lingers at the end FOREVER due to the high carbonation of this beer. I like being able to taste it minutes after my last sip. Heck yaaaa

650ml bottle, poured into a Toppling Goliath teku glass. Enjoyed on 1.16.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a golden straw color, lightly hazy and cloudy with a big, foamy white head, good retention and huge swatches of lace. The nose is very floral, lightly green, very grassy, plenty of citrus, soft pale grain, very bright and refreshing. Really inviting and welcoming, the bouquet on this is great. The flavors echo the nose, very floral but not herbal or medicinal, grassy and green, mildly dank, piney and citrusy as it opens up, light rind and bitterness with a bit of mineral water and doughy pale grain. The mouthfeel is very good, medium body, very smooth with good life, bubbly and coating with a dry bite.

Verdict: A very good pale ale from Toppling Goliath, delicate, bright, very hoppy and quite refreshing. It's easy to drink, very quaffable, perhaps a bit heavy on the floral qualities, but in general, a very worthy beer.

A - nice golden hazy beer with a white head that sticks forever
S - big peach, mango, papaya, passion fruit, honeydew, dank ganja and hop resin
T - very dank with hop resin and ganja, mango, peach, papaya, orange, grapefruit, citrus pith, tangerine
M - medium mouthfeel, alc covered, aftertaste is dank hop resin, ganja
O - good beer. I really really wish they would put bottle dates on there though.

I feel like a broken record at times, but this is another outstanding beer by TG.

Unlike the Pompeii or the Sol Hunter, this beer finishes with a crispness & bite, unique for an IBU of around 60. Pours an orangeish amber color with a stark white head with a big tropical nose with hints of grass & pine...it's a bit spicier than the nose on a lot of TG brews. The flavor profile follows the nose nicely, with juicy tangerine notes & a piney bite. Finishes strong and lingers pleasantly. A smoother mouthfeel than I imagined throughout the taste, but not quite a velvety smooth finish like Sue.

Overall, another excellent beer in the stable and one I'd place ahead of Sosus & Light Speed, but behind Twisted Galaxy and the obvious. If you can find it, grab it. It won't disappoint.

Mostly opaque orange with a large white foam head.

Smell is peach, orange, cracker, dank pine, and Sweet Tarts. Very fun and enjoyable this one.

Taste is cracker, orange, grapefruit, and pine. It gets a little spicy and more bitter over time.

Feel is thin, tangy, with a little fizz, finishing semi-dry.

Enjoyed this side by side with DDH Sue and Sosus, and it was a delight to experience how truly unique each beer was relative to each other.

A big thanks to Jeff for this. I'm a huge fan of this series. 22oz. bomber into a Surly teku. Shared with schen9303.

Pours New England-y if that makes any sense. Cloudy and frothy. Nose is pineapple, starfruit and citrus. The flavors are there but its pretty mellow. Beer opens pine, citrus, starfruit and grapefruit. There's a nice juiciness in this but its expertly balanced by a citrus rind hop bitterness. A light grassy bitterness at the end with a mellow, tropical fruit sweetness to finish. Very nice. Body is light to medium with moderate to low carbonation. Smooth on the palate and dry and quenching going down. Very drinkable.

Excellent as usual. Its amazing that a beer this flavorful is delivered as a pale ale.

This has a lot of flavor and body for 5.3%. Big mango and grapefruit flavors with herbal hops and some stale bread. Let it warm up a bit and I get some mint and lemon/lime. This is one of the better session beers I've had.

Looks like hop juice, hazy orange with a moderate head
Smells juicy pineapple, mango etc. but also little like a spice ball, grassy
Fruit forward fades into citrus rind ends with a slightly bitter finish
Mouthfeel is a bit shy of the velvety goodness I anticipated, slight astringency as well
Overall glad I got to try this but I think I'll stick to psuedosue
