Bottled on 5/8/18

Looks like hazy, pulpy orange juice carrying a fluffy little white head with some nice longevity.

The aroma carries notes of a bountiful tropical fruit medley tempered only by a thin veil of juicy melon.

The taste is just so balanced, highlighting bits of of mango, grapefruit, guava, pine, orange, melon, and a bitterness that's both prickly and refreshing; nothing is strong here, but everything is in place.

Much like the taste, "balance" is the keyword when it comes to the feel of this beer. It carries an effortless smoothness with an effective carbonation that manages to feel both creamy and eminently juicy.

Amazing to think this APA is the product of a single hop; they must've milked the Citra dry for this one. Pretty paradoxically, it's both complex and simple, and so balanced in its flavors that it's not typically the type of beer I'd turn to, and yet the spectacular structure of this one just can't be ignored. It drinks so nicely, that it's really the type you reach for if you're simply overwhelmed by options and just want a really satisfying pale ale.

This was tasted against several other IPAs and held up well over the coarse of the tasting. I would love to drink this one again and think it better than Heady Topper by an edge.

22oz, bottled on 02/08/18. This beer eluded me one time - I passed on it at the store, but when I went back to get it a few days later, the shelf was empty. Glad to find more - and it's fresh! Murky and opaque pineapple juice appearance with a creamy white head. Huge juicy and floral aroma of passion fruit, lemon-lime, and grapefruit. Citric and tart in flavor with notes of passion fruit, lemon-lime, kumquat, grapefruit, and a hint of orange; malt is mild and seems to be a bit wheaty. Fuller body, quite resinous, finishing moderately bitter. Glad to try it but I prefer the regular PseudoSue.

Poured from a canned date of 2/21/18 into the test glass
A - Nice clarity, excellent carbonation, feeding a loose knit white cap.
S - From 2' away you can smell the Citra in this offering, tropical fruits, mango, papaya, pine apple
T - Nice malt base with possibly some oat, Semi sweet, hops add that tropical punch without being overbearing.
M - Nice water profile, soft on the palate, just enough bitterness to offset. A dry finish with an interesting fruity linger.
O - A very well crafted offering, worth seeking out, the soft feel is delightful

Purchased from Tavour. Fantastic. Fluffy white head. More flavor in this thing than most double ipas while keeping the abv low. I'd drink this every day if I could

Thanks, Sam!

Got this as part of a nice haul from Sam. Was told to drink this right away, but I was sick (and still was as I was reviewing this). Didn’t want to wait any longer. Had heard wonderful things about this one (4.60 on Beer Advocate - No. 51 and 4.49 on Untappd). Had regular PseudoSue before and loved it, giving it a 4.59 on Jan. 14, 2016. Also enjoyed Golden Nugget (4.09 on Dec. 5, 2016). Hoping this one will be at least a 4.50.

Poured a straw-to-pale hazy color with three fingers of off-white frothy head. A few light bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled a plethora of Citra hops up front. Also lime zest, pine, grass, hay, herbal, tangerine, citrus pulp, orange blossom, floral, caramel malts, tropical fruits, ripe peach and pineapple. Excellent, but I bet much better when fresh. Doesn’t seem as fresh as could be. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste followed the nose for the most part. Big dose of Citra up front. Also fresh cut grass, lime zest, herbal, hay, pine, pineapple, caramel malts, ripe peach, tangerine peel, mandarin orange (Mandarina Bavaria came to mind), floral, cantaloupe, melon and vegetables. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was an excellent pale ale, but I was a bit disappointed overall. I think this may have not been the freshest beer, but still super glad I got to try it. (Overall - 4.25)

It pours dark yellow with a nice pillow of a head that doesn't go away. The aroma is of pure pine-like hops. Some citrus and dankness as well. Chewy and with very little and mellow carbonation.

Look: hazy gold, mild pale foam head, dissipation is quick.
Aroma: hop variety in the nose, various citrus, orange zest.
Taste: citrus is overpowering in a good way, hoppy flavor, and pulp with some herbal characters.
Feel: bitter but perfectly so, juicy, smooth, and dry.
Overall: the perfect APA for anyone. Amazing flavor that makes non-PA drinkers gush. Delicious hazy citrus is rampant. The bitter and dry combo is quite stunning.

A - Hazy orange body, some transparency, moderate white head, lots of tiny bubbled ropey lacing.

S - Pine and mint combines with grapefruit and pith, with just a touch of honey malts.

T - Follows the nose, with grapefruit flesh and pith, a bit of orange juice, and a touch of mint in the close. The bitterness comes late, a trail after the mint falls away.

M - Prickly in the open, moderate heft, a touch of drying in the close.

O - Take the edges off the original, and you get this. Very nicely designed IPA, and delicious, too.

L-Hazy orange juice color with a 1/2 frothy white head.

S-Aroma of pineapple, mango, passion fruit, peaches combined with an impressive fresh floral scent. If this isn't a 5.0 for aroma I am not sure what is.

T-A nice blend of the fruits and oily floral hop notes. Really a nice flavor with no catty/onion/garlic notes at all.

F-Medium bodied...drinks and feels like an APA should.

O-Outstanding APA..loaded with fresh flavors and aromas....unique too..I've never gotten such a strong floral impression from a Citra beer before but this achieves almost a noble hop impression combined with the juicy fruit notes. Top notch. I haven't given out a 5.0 for awhile and I was debating myself on a 4.75 for Look but this deserves a 5.0

Appearance: Pours cloudy and honey colored with a big, frothy head; great stickage and a curtain of lace

Smell: Papaya, passion fruit, kiwi and tangerine

Taste: Tropical fruit forward, with papaya and kiwi joined by the passion fruit and tangerine tones, through the middle; moderately dank, with a dry finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation; almost creamy

Overall: A really tasty pale ale but the hype machine is in full bore here

Thanks, TBach, for the opportunity

Pours a murky, unfiltered warm gold with half a finger of head that settled quickly, but has lacing

Smell is dank...citrus...orange peel....guava (although not heavily "tropical")

Taste has a bit of herbalness, some cracker

Velvety mouthfeel with a dry finish..but not sweet/oily

Pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a stable, one finger broad head.

The beers nose is quite complex, and extremely well put together. It does not only highlight a juicy fruitiness of lemon, papaya and kiwi and big chunks of passion fruit, but also a herbal, crackery note, standing out on itself, while, at the same time, creating a well working interplay with the hops.

Has a smooth, velvet mouthfeel, with just a slightly effervescent peak at the finish, highlighting the refreshing character of this.

Tastes of fresh cut papaya and lots of dried grass, which establishes an immediate dryness, balancing the fruit juice impact at the same time. Lemon pulp and pineapple intensify the pleasant dry / fruity interplay, among a light, crackery malt base. Quite bitter during the finish, the beers taste inherits still a lot more, more subtle flavors of fruits, grass and a flowery note.

Easily the best pale ale I‘ve had this year, with just so much going on, a whole plethora of flavors slowly unfolds on the palate. Add a world class mouthfeel to it, as well as an extremely well put together, diverse nose, and you‘ll end up with DDH Pseudo Sue, a beer which will make you happy.

ordered a Double Dry Hop Pseudo Sue from Tavour. Given its reputation and its scarcity in NY, expectations are high.
It pours an extremely hazy liquid that looks like freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. The carbonation is visible, as is a gentle and ruminating modest bubbly head that leaves lacing in its wake.
In the nose there is initially an herbal, grassy and slightly dank quality. These aromas retain throughout albeit pushed a bit to the background as more fruity and juicy aromas take center stage. Hints of orange pulp, mango, and papaya fill the nose, as does a crackery malt backbone.
As I put the glass to my lips it is soon apparent this will be something special. Smooth, juicy and dry all at the same time. Grapefruit pith, orange peel, hints of tropical fruit against a malt texture that evokes fullness and a touch of sweetness. Generously hopped in terms of bitterness, flavor and mouthfeel; earthy, piny, prickly, yet smooth and accessible. Slightly creamy with a medium body.
Tasty, complex and full of flavor. Honestly one of-if not-the best Pale Ales I’ve ever had. Worth the hype!!

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a hazy orange amber with a thick white head.

Aroma is an herbal citrus with a sweet light malt note at the end.

Taste matches aroma. Deliciously bitter and sweet at the same time. Incredible.

DDH Psuedo Sue pours a murky orange, perhaps a muddled copper if that sounds better, as this beer deserves the extra credit. It has an ice cream scoop of a head, rocky, foamy, and creamy. It sticks to the surface almost as well as it does to the glass.

Citrus notes destroy the senses with tones of orange and grapefruit on the surface, then some sweet graininess and resin come out of hiding from underneath.

The citrus once again dominates the palate. The sweet malt plays a perfect backdrop with a grainy, or even slight nuttiness sense. There is a a distinct fresh earthiness once all is said and done, all of which I find quite proper for a pale ale.

This beer screams pale ale. It's wonderful citric bite, a smooth intermission that makes this one so unique, then a perfect bitter grittiness just to remind you what kind of beer you're drinking.

There are pale ales, a royal family of the species, then there is this. DDH PsuedoSue is about as good as it gets. It might not look like your classic pale ale, but it doesn't have to, because the rest of it bites your face off with intensity, complexity, and superb well roundness. Cheers, and thank you Joe!

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a pint glass. Thanks Ryan for hooking me up with this bottle.

This beer is beautiful, pours a golden orange hazy body with a perfect, two finger super frothy, creamy white head that never really reduces, just sticks around and leaves thick lacing. Perfect look, 5/5

Aromas are grainy and citrusy, resinous and zesty. On the tongue is lightly bitter piney, resinous hops with a bit of citrus and grapefruit, finishing lightly bitter/peppery. Nice easy mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

I think I like regular psuedo better, this was surprising lacking flavor a bit.

Poured from a 22oz bomber bottle. Best guess for bottling date is 8/31/2017, generally difficult to read because of where the date marking is positioned.
Very attractive orange, hazy body (no white flakes seen at bottom of the glass). White head settles into cirrus cloud type head, very dense lacing throughout. Appearance is so striking as to cause hesitation upon drinking the brew.
Citrus and tropical fruit aroma, wafts out of the glass.
Taste is citrus hops, with very slight bitter bite at the back.
It's a mouth coater, very quaffable.
Get it fresh, but this pale ale delivers.

I don't see a date on it. Given to me by @mr-jj.

Pour a hazy pale golden with a medium sized coarse head and medium to high carbonation. Smell is very nice, lemons and pine, quite powerful aroma, quite pleasant.

Taste is also quite pleasant, but a bit mellower. More malt and straw flavors, but still very strong pine and citrus (leaning toward lemon).

Mouthfeel is thick and coarse -- unusual, and I like it. Overall, very happy with this beer.

Poured a hazy, dark orange with a couple fingers of white frothy head that settled pretty quickly.
Smells very citrusy, I get lots of grapefruit and zesty orange.
Taste follows, grapefruit and orange zest really dominate for me. They definitely packed in the hop flavor. Bitter dry finish.
Feel to me seemed a bit thin, almost watery.
Overall a good beer that I would have again.
