Canned 7/4. Gold orange color with mild creamy head and lacing, quite cloudy and lots of particulates. Smell is hoppy in a number of ways: juicy, citrusy notes of orange, lemon, and pineapple, slightly dank. Nice thing is it’s not too strong on the smell. Taste is the same characteristics, but stronger, bold. Sharp tart citrus aftertaste. Very well balanced, very tasty. Feel is so mildly medium that it’s almost light bodied for such a big flavored beer, barely mouth watering, and even the alcohol presence is subtle. When Toppling Goliath is on with their IPAs, they’re on. This one is, pardon me saying so, Supa.

Bomber bottle poured into snifter.

Super hazy, orange straw, near opaque. Think off white head that settles into collar around the glass leaving lots of sticky lacing.

Aroma is citrus zest, grapefruit juice, earthy resins, tropical fruit and a hint of something vegetal.

Bright citrus flavor with deep resinous earthy pine. Over-ripe tropical fruits and grassy plants. Hint of sweetness and back end bitterness balances everything out.

Moderate carbonation and medium body, smooth, bitter finish.

Big aroma and flavor, blend of hop characteristics, hazy as can be.

Light yellow with a massive haziness. There’s a fingernail of eggshell white around the rim and a small amount of the top. I’m smelling a lot of tropical fruit including pineapple, mango, and citrus. I’m tasting loads of pineapple, mango, and citrus. The mouth is thick and moderately sticky.

Pours a hazy yellow/orange color with a thing soapy white head on top. The lacing is good. The smell of beer is pretty damn nice. Loaded with dank citrus. The taste is great too the flavors of citrus and pungent resin. The feel is medium bodied, creamy and smooth. Overall it's outstanding.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and a big two finger off white head that slowly settles into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: A very juicy and dank hop driven aroma with a scent of citrus and pine resin. Citrus hop scent of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, melon, lemon, and tangerine along with pineapple. Earthy hop scent of pine resin, grass, and cannabis. Malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker. A really good juicy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a very juicy and dank hop driven taste with big notes of citrus fruit and pine. Juicy citrus hop notes of orange peel, mango, grapefruit, tangerine, melon, and lemon along with pineapple. Earthy hop notes of pine resin and grass. Background malt notes of caramel, cracker, and grains. A very good juicy taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy and oily with a drying finish.

Overall: A really great Imperial IPA. Huge juicy and piney hop flavor with balanced bitterness.

Big thanks to Will_Edgar for sending me a couple of these bottles! Reviewed from (very) long-standing notes. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass. Did not record an exact consumption date; likely early September, 2017.

A: Very hazy to turbid orangish gold. Not much carbonation visible through the haze, but forms almost two-fingers of white head that has very nice retention.

S: Really nice here – bright citrus, dank, tropical fruits, and melon. Notes of stone fruit mixed with the cracker malts. Maybe a bit more melon and spice than would be my personal preference, but still solid.

T: Oranges and mangos and melons. Dank, pineapple, and a little onion-y hops. Cracker malt body that feels quite substantial. More tropical fruits, dank, and juicy citrus near the swallow, and the citrus pith bitterness ultimately lasts the longest.

M: Medium to full-bodied for a DIPA. Average carbonation sensation. The alcohol content is extraordinarily well-hidden, though the listed ABV is quite tame for a DIPA.

O: Quite enjoyable, though I would prefer the King Sue to this on a personal level. Nice juicy, citrusy flavors for sure.

650ml bomber purchased in Decorah for 10 bucks.

The beer pours a copper color with a slight haze. It looks more than appealing. Matter of fact, it demands attention. Two things draw my attention: (1) Haze, as in OJ; (2) Wonderful copper with slight haze. This offers a nice copper color with a foamy white head with solid retention and lacing. The aroma is herbaceous with slight citrus, tropical, bright, dank, floral, piney, and fresh grass. The taste is bright, juicy hops, yet dank somehow. It’s slightly confusing in some way. Mouthfeel is perfect for the style; light, carbonated, lively, and smooth with a dry finish.

The backend is bitter in a passive aggressive way; it’s there but doesn’t insult?

This is great to find, not seek. It’s different in a great way compared to other TG offerings. The price is slightly high, but I’ll forgot the extra two bucks for something different.

Can’t actually review this beer because after paying out for a four pack I had not seen before it turns out the beer I purchased was just the Golden Nugget can wrapped in additional Vinyl wrapping. I would hope for better from a top tier brewer. Clearly visible through the label and when peeling back the Supa Sumo label it was just about he Golden nugget can underneath. While I enjoy Golden Nugget I feel cheated out of a new variety.

Poured from 22-ounce "bomber" into a TeKu. This is beautiful in appearance, if you like a hazy, juicy-looking, light orange-yellow body underneath a thick, brilliant white, long-lasting head that leaves lots of spotty lacing as it settles. Malt forward at fridge temperature, but becomes nicely balanced as it warms. Lots of citrus as expected, with notes of orange, grapefruit, and orange zest. The nice resiny bitterness begins to come through at close to cellar temperature. Medium mouthfeel, with a crisp, bitter finish. Another one out of the park for TG. Kanpai!

This is such an amazingly tasty Imperial IPA. Lots of tropical and fruity notes but also dank notes. Very chewable and with just about the right amount of bitterness.
