Bomber at share, 2020 vintage. Near black pour, dissipating brown head. Sweet chocolaty aroma with coconut, bourbon. Taste blends the milk chocolate and coconut to perfection for a nice candy bar vibe. Just boozy enough.

Coconut and chocolate with layers of sweetness and bourbon. One can compare this to some of the best coconut barrel aged beers to exist and it’s up there at the top. Draft was phenomenal, rich, smooth and a wonderful treat.

12 oz. bottle. Black body with a thick khaki collar. Smells of coconut, nutty malts, and rich fudge. Tastes of hefty fudge, nutty malts, coconut, and finally a little barrel in the back end. Just whisps of whiskey. Very thick, rich, and heavy. Pretty good, but it's not a standout. Sweet coconut stout with hints of barrel.

Obsidian black, but a little oily, with a short mocha head that dies off fairly quickly, moreso than its base.

Syrupy thick and cloyingly sweet--at least by comparison to its stellar base--there's a melange of dark fruits, and the coconut lies behind that. It's not terribly coconut forward, and coming at such a high price that's a bit of a let down. There's also some sticky heat, but hey, it's still Assassin.

2019 version thanks to sverseman.
L: black, pretty minimal dark brn head.
S: Coconut, fudge, almonds, bourbon.
T: Coconut fudge with extra nuts, vanilla, bourbon, oakiness.
F: Thiccc and oily.
Overall: solid. Would not pay $50 for it repeatedly. BL Hypermash Hydra Was slightly better.

5oz draft pour. thick oily black that stains. has legs. smell is muted coconut, chocolate and whiskey. by far the weakest component of this beer. nothing stands out. taste is subtle coconut with nice chocolate and whiskey flavors. feel is decently thick. nothing to complain about. delicious stout. not overly coconut by any means though.

Draft at Assassin 2019 release event at TG. (rating based on most recent).

The 2019 Coconut was a bit disappointing. The coconut aroma was muted, and the flavor almost entirely when I first got the pour. It took a while for any of it to start becoming noticeable (once warmed) up but it was still nowhere near as coconut prominent as in 2018.

Draft at Assassin 2018 release event at TG.

Look is extremely dark and oily appearance with zero foam upon pour. Smell is barrel and loads of coconut. Taste was incredibly loaded with coconut. Chocolate also. Sweet. The coconut added quite a bit of sweetness to the already slightly sweet base. Fudgy and sticky feel for sure.

Out of the 3 Assassins I had (along with Coffee Assassin and regular), although this was my 'least' favorite, it was still fantastic. If you are a coconut junkie, this one would deliver and then some. My favorite was actually the regular Assassin because it's already an awesome base beer. The adjunct just takes a bit away from that balance. And since Assassin 2018 base is already a bit sweet from the barrel, the coconut just made it even sweeter.

But this is a phenomenal beer, make no mistake about it.

This is an utterly incredible offering. Taste is rich, viscous liquid fudge with sweet vanilla. Coconut provided a general sweeter more desserty experience than the base beer. Warm bourbon present but not overwhelming. Coats the entire mouth. Lucky to have tried!

On tap at Assassin day 2018. Motor oil black. No head.

This takes Assassin to another love. The coconut adds the perfect layer to this beer. Sweet, rich, and fudgy. Chocolate and a light barrel char. Amazing whiskey notes. Thick. Vanilla/marshmallow flavor. This is decadent. Dessert and brownie like.

2019 on tap

Decadent and fudgy. Extremely thick. Coconut is on point and doesn’t overtake the barrels. Vanilla. Oaky and bourbon. Very rich. Another winner. 4.75
