Notes: Pouring a seductively red hue, with aromas reminiscent of cinnamon crusted cherry pie; this kettle sour treat is both tart and sweet. No pits about it, just the cherry on top, bottom and middle.

Pours an opaque cherry red from the can with a big pillowy 3" pink head, great retention, light lacing. Nose is sweet cherry syrup, a bit of grain/wheat, and a touch of sour. Taste is sweet cherry pie filling with just enough sourness to prevent it from getting cloying. Mouthfeel is full and rich but begs another sip, and none of the residual sugariness that is often the case with these sweet sours. Overall, this was extremely enjoyable and an excellent rendition on a style that has devolved into sweet, sticky messes.

Cherry pie in a glass! Honestly tastes like the "syrup" part inside of a cherry pie, with the cinnamon crust around the edges. My first kettle sour from TG and it's a winner. BIG TIME.

Poured from pint can into cervoise.
A: Pours a dark ruby red hue with 1 inch finely-bubbled off white head with very good retention.
S: Lovely fresh cherries with a hint of malt and spice.
T: Again, super fresh cherries and a stronger note of earthy spice.
M: Light body. Mildly tart with loads of cherry sweetness. Juicy feel.
D: Simply superb for style. Another outstanding fruited kettle sour from TG.

Cherry Fandango
Toppling Goliath
Date: 17 Feb 2021
I love cherries; furthermore, I had to buy this beer to see if it tasted like a sour cherry pie. I used a tulip glass and served the beer around 44 degrees. A frothy and airy two-fingered pinkish-red head was created from the pour with excellent retention. The slow dissipation tatted thick lacing on the glass. The color is red like cherries. Putting the beer up to the light, I can see through it.

The aromas are tart-sweet cherries, fruity sweetness, biscuity, earthy, and a hint of baking spices.

I taste cherries, cinnamon, cloves, pie crust, fruity sweetness, tart cherries, and earthiness.

The mouthfeel is puckering and slightly dry.

The body is medium, low carbonation, and has a delightful finish.

The beer tasted like a slice of cherry pie. A fantastic sipper for the end of an unusual day. I enjoyed drinking this beer.

This sour beer is anything but sour. It was so sweet everyone I served it to could drink more that two sips. Way to sweet to even consume.

16 oz can.

Pours a beautifully opaque deep magenta color with 2 fingers of sudsy pink cotton candy head. Great head retention. Leaves a crown of sticky lacing along the top of the glass as the head settles into a ghostly thin sheet. Absolutely gorgeous beer.

Aromas of sweet cherry pie filling, cinnamon, and shortbread pie crust subtly permeate the air around the glass. A rather light aroma, but very pleasant.

Cherries dominate the flavor like it's been a bad boy. Literally tastes like cherry pie filling. There's some light cinnamon and a nice shortbread cookie flavor with the foggiest idea of tart citrus on the finish.

The feel is medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Creamy and lightly chewy with a nice acidic bite.

Overall, this is definitely one of the best kettle sours I've ever had. It tastes more like cherry pie than actual cherry pie. It's phenomenally well-balanced with surprising drinkability. Decadent, yet somehow refreshing. More please.

Pours very beautiful translucent crimson red with a huge white head that settles into a nice cap with plenty of lacing left on the glass. The smell is less intense than expected but it's dominated by sour cherries with just a touch of a cinnamon smell. The taste is truly amazing. It's got an intense sweet Cherries with a subtle cinnamon. It goes down super smooth. My review cannot do the taste of this one the justice it deserves. One of the best fruited sours I've ever had.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 2/17/21, so couple months old.

Looks very good in the glass. Light maroon colored body with a decent off white head. This shrinks to a fat ring and covering, leaving a sheen of lacing.

Cherry aroma of course, with a featherlight cinnamon touch.

On tasting, strong cherry flavor, and the beer is sweet, tart, and sour in a pleasing blend. The cinnamon weaves in and out.

Mouth full, finish sweet tart.

Overall, very enjoyable beer. Flavors are strong, but not overdone. An actual pie crust flavor would have knocked this one out of the park.

Pours an effervescent chablis color with 2+ fingers of billowy pinkish head. Below average head retention & lacing

S: Some cherry

T: Sweet/tart cherry with a little red currant, certainly reminds me of cherry pie, swear I can taste the crust, just a little dryness up front. Tartness is winning as this warms, sweet cherry & dryness is there too. Finishes sweet & tart, beautiful

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation

Wish this had the nose to match the flavor, still a great Sour offering with great drinkability

In celebration of all-things-cherry, Toppling Goliath takes us on a trip down Memory Lane, taking us back to grandma's kitchen and those tart cherry pie memories, but this time its put into a beer glass.

Pouring a striking crimson, red and maroon hue, Cherry Fandango builds a loose and frothy cap while the juiciness of ripe dark cherries tease the nose with reckless fruit aromatics. Hints of candy and cream decorate the scent while a vinous spice and a slight savory character take the fruit in a pie-like direction. Following up on its scent, the first sip is sweet with cherry glaze, hard candy, soda and pie crust as its malty upstart is firm but understated.

But the star of the show are the cherries as they billow into a full, radiant and juicy pitted fruit flavor. Moderately sour and firmly tart, the cherries are both bracingly acidic and robust for depth and complexity. As the cream candy and toasted malts fade, the tartness invites nuances of red wine and cider to add balance to the full fruitiness and a sweet linger onto the late palate.

Medium bodied and trending slightly dry and peppery, the off-sour ale shows a hint of cinnamon late as its juicy and glaze-like character gives way to cherry soda, bubbly brightness and a radiant series of cherry echoes. Grandma's cherry pie never drank so good.

Sampled on draught at the Brass Tap, Cedar Falls, IA; served in a snifter. Clear, light ruby-colored pour, with a reddish-tinged white head that settled within a moment or two. Huge aromas and flavors of - surprise! - tart cherry, with undertones of warm spice. Not too sweet, with tartness/sourness dominating the profile. Light bodied, with a crisp finish and little lingering sourness. Overall, nothing to complain about with this one. Well crafted, lip-smackingly delicious.
