Amber orange color with a thick head with decent retention and leaving a wall of laces.
Aroma with notes of tangerines, grass and pine, a bit of caramel, mango and pineapples.
Flavor with notes of grapefruit, tangerines, grass, mango, pineapple and pepper-resiny zest. Dry and bitter aftertaste. Friendly, but still surprising resilient at only 31 IBUs and not really fresh.
Bordering medium body with mild carbonation with very tiny bubbles.
Assertive APA with good bitter sweet balance and predominant green and citrusy flavors with a tropical touch. It borders IPA strength.

22 oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint shows off a partly cloudy/hazy deep orange brew with a foamy off-white head.

Smell is very strong malt. Like buscuits. Also oranges

The strong caramel malt base dominates the taste. Bready with a touch of citrus hops. Faint orange and grapefruit provide a touch of sourness. Smooth aftertaste.

On the heavier end body wise for a pale ale, but medium overall. Decent amount of carbonation.

Hop hunters are not going to be fighting for this one. Nothing elaborate, but just a very, very good, drinkable beer. Sometimes simplicity is a good thing. I would gladly take this over a SNPA.

Surprisingly bland....faint hops, lots of bread, and a yeast presence that seems off. An odd pale that just isn't all that enjoyable.

16oz can, dated MAR/01/17
A - hazy, yeasty amber body with a frothy ivory head that leaves a spattering of lacing on the glass
S - zesty, citric nose: orange and grapefruit zest and pith, earthy pine, caramel malt, grain
T - pine and zesty orange & grapefruit, toasty grain, caramely sweetness
M - medium body, resinous, finishing bitter with pine and zest lingering
O - pretty good APA but my expectations were high in comparison to some other Toppling Goliath pale ales.

Canned date 10/04/17

Appearance - Slight haze on the pour and golden orange in color with an off-white, finger width head. Fair retention results in a thin, broken layer of suds with a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Good amount of lacing, with broken sheeting and spots making up the bulk of it.

Smell - First impression is orange with a hint of pineapple. Light bready malts with a bit of grain.

Taste - Follows the nose. Mild orange upfront with lesser pineapple, then some fair passionfruit character comes into play. Bready, slightly grainy malt backbone. Finish lingers with orange pith bitterness and a continuing grain character.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair, lightly bitey carbonation. Slick, easy drinker with a smooth, slight dryness on the finish.

Overall - This is a good drinking pale. At 2+ months old it's one I'd like to try a bit fresher, though I doubt it would change much. One of those beers you can sip on while your focus is on other things.

16oz can served in a pint glass. 06/01/17 stamped on the bottom. Given to me by @mr-jj.

Slightly hazy amber with a medium head and medium carbonation. Smell is straw, grain, grass.

Taste is straw, strong bitterness, and medium grass. I'm actually pretty surprised how bitter this is.

Mouthfeel is dry. Overall, not bad, and certainly sessionable with the dry mouthfeel and bitter finish.
