16 oz can. Hazy golden amber pour with a frothy off white head, light citrus aroma with a hint of spice and tangerine, taste has a lot of forward citrus hop action along with some pine, sweet malts in the backbone, moderate bitterness.

16 oz can. Pours clean light golden, slight haze, finger white head has great longevity, leaves thin coating lace. Aroma and taste are very clean, light toasted malt, grassy bitter hops with some herbal notes at the end. Medium soft feel. Good IPA overall

A deep golden ale with a low haze. pours with two fingers of thick off-white foam with very long head retention.

A strong citrus hops aroma with a low caramel malt sweetness.

More of a balanced American IPA, being built on a foundation of New World hops and bitterness but with a touch of malt sweetness to round it out.

16 oz can purchased in FL and poured into dogfish pint glass.
A: pours a crystal clear golden body, 2 finger white frothy foam head, stringy lacing that last to the finish
S: sweet floral notes that light up my senses, citrus, mango, soft pine aroma, fresh sweet biscuit
M: medium body with an almost clean finish
T: floral notes in the begining with sweet citrus in the middle, hints of evergreen or a light pine, sweet malt, sorta watery-light towards the finish, hints of pine resin finishes out the end.
O: fantastic brew from start to finish, will be a staple if I can get more in my area someday...

Canned in late July, poured into a snifter. Appearance lives up to its name – golden color with a bunch of floaties. Healthy foam and lacing, not much carbonation. Big hop presence on the smell, a little less on the taste, still a very hoppy beer. Mild bitterness, zesty, a little fruit presence. All in all, a very very good beer.

Appearance- pale orange with light carbonation and light fluffy head

Aroma -dankness up front from the nugget hop.

Taste- I am not a huge fan of smash beers. One on the one hand u get to really appreciate the golden promise grain and the nugget hop, but at the same time the lack of complexity holds back what this could be.

Mouthfeel- light with moderate to strong carbonation.

Overall- I enjoyed this beer but feel this could be so much better with a little crystal malt, and some adjuncts to boost the body.

From a month-old can, pours a pretty clear orange-gold. About a finger of off-white head leaves spotty lacing. Smell is basically pine and grapefruit, with a little malt coming through. Taste is similar, with a nice resinous bitterness in the finish. Medium-minus feel. Overall a really nice IPA, quite delicious. This could be an everyday drinker for me.

Lightly hazed golden straw colour, 1.5 fingers of white head, good lace. Smell is full of hops, massive grapefruit and tangerine, a bit of sweet malt as well as some dank pine resin notes. Taste starts out with a nice hoppy bitterness, citrus at first, grapefruit, dank pine resin, light mid palate sweetness, dry earthy finish. Light carbonation, slick medium-full body. A very well done IPA, could drink plenty of this.

This truly is a Nugget hop showcase. The nose is a mix of citrus, floral and pine notes. The taste is a little heavier on the floral and spicy side, with some sharp citrus and lots of pine. Some light bread and toasted malt. Fairly bitter. Nice dry finish with a fairly creamy medium-bodied mouthfeel. This is executed very well, but the score is a little suppressed for me simply because Nugget is not one of my favorite hops. For me, it comes across like an English IPA but with an American IPA style level of hopping. All personal preference, but I recognize a great beer when I have one.

From a bomber into a pint glass. Really pretty hazy gold with a nice soapy head. Big citrus and pine aromas along with a nice floral note as well. The taste is hop driven with citrus, pine and floral notes along with a nice malt sweetness from the golden promise. Really nice full palate that lingers well and seems to have a crispness to it from the carbonation. Overall another great single hop ipa from Toppling Goliath. Just wonderful.

16 oz can. Pours hazy golden orange with a big bubbly white head that retains well

The aroma is sweet bready malt with soft tropical fruit and some grassy piney hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malt with spicy floral hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent IPA. I'm not really liking the hop flavor profile though.

Pours a very hazy burnt orange, creamy white head, thick sheet of lace trails partway down the glass. Smell: pine needles, mildly floral and spicy, a bit of orange citrus, sweet pale backing. Taste: resinous pine, candied orange, dried apricot, pineapple note, mildly grainy and sweet. Medium bodied, mildly prickly carbonation, finish is slightly drying but ultimately sticky. Nugget is not the most exciting hop (hah) but this is really well made, better use of golden promise than others.

Can dated May/09/16. Nose could've been more potent, but still enjoyable nonetheless. Taste is delicious piney and citrus, considerable astringency and a little bitterness. Finish lingers a bit with subtle astringency. Mouthfeel is really nice, just enough body but not too much, and the carbonation is solid. Really glad TG has distro to SDakota, very pleasant surprise on a trip back home.

Tasted in parallel with Pseudo-Sue. This is more aromatic and closer to an IPA. The flavors seems more complex and fill your mouth more thant pseudo-sue does. I judge it better although quite similar.

My local market finally has Toppling Goliath! I was excited to stop in to the Rhinelander Cellar 70 the other day to find Golden Nugget and PseudoSue 16 oz four-packs. This one was canned 18 days ago. Poured right from the fridge into a nonic pint glass.

L: Pours a bright apricot amber--cloudy and filled with fine particulate--with about an inch-and-a-half of billowy eggshell head that sticks around for a good bit, falls to a healthy film and ring, and leaves substantial, even lacing on the glass. Large, moderate visible carbonation present.

S: Grassy, herbal, and dank/resinous hop notes present in the bouquet. More subdued still are notes of stone fruit, melon, and less-perceptible pine. Lighter cracker malts hold steady underneath.

T: As opposed to PseudoSue, this one has a pretty reserved flavor profile--nothing really shouts out at you. The opening has cracker malts and registers as quite dry. Following on their heels are subdued grassy and floral hop notes that keep that feeling of dryness going into the middle. The creamier middle brings on the fruit hop notes of stone fruit and melon, while still maintaining those grassy and floral/herbal notes. As mentioned, none of these flavors are especially assertive--this really is a very understated IPA. The back end brings on a more resinous quality, and it does register fleetingly as pine, though citrus rind would probably be equally appropriate. The is quite a bit of melon flavor at the close, with a big build of bitter that carries through the aftertaste. Perhaps a bit of cracked pepper and grassy notes there, as well.

F: Lighter-bodied and nicely carbonated, this one is dry, crisp, slightly creamy, bright, and quite bitter in turns. It has a very clean feeling on the palate, though that bitter does stick to the palate at the close.

O: This was actually the first Toppling Goliath beer I ever had, but I'm just now getting around to reviewing it. I wasn't overly impressed on that first occasion. At the time, I was all about big hop bombs and didn't really appreciate subtlety in pale ales. Well, with a number of years to develop my tastes a bit, I find this one very enjoyable. It has some similar things going on as Two Hearted. It's not nearly as floral and fragrant as that beer, and I don't think it has near the balance; however, this one can definitely hold its own with some of the best IPAs out there. I would definitely recommend giving this one a go.

16oz bottle dated 12/23/15 poured into an IPA glass
A: Orange color, light carbonation and a two-finger head
S: True to the style but somewhat generic hops and malt, a bit earthy
T: Like the nose. A straightforward IPA
M: Medium-bodied, a bit bitter
O: This is nice, glad to have the chance to try it but I look forward to trying it again and updating my review when it's fresher

Very cool beer, a nice sharp smell, the taste is very tight, it seemed that a lot for one person the whole bottle, and a fantastic aftertaste, still remained for the next half an hour

Deep gold beer that left a few bands and some spots of lacing. The nose is filled with grapefruit, sweet malt and pine with some floral notes as well. The taste is mainly grapefruit and tangerine with a nice sweetness and a balanced piney bitterness at the end. This is a quite tasty IPA with a lot of citrus and a good balance of sweetness and bitterness.

Pretty decent IPA. My first Toppling Goliath beer. I am more impressed by the well rounded flavors than anything although not much is standing out enough to make it interesting. Good beer. Looking forward to pseudo.

Pours slightly hazy Prague in color with a fluffy white head that has great retention. Aromas of citrus hops with notes of tangerine and orange rind caramel malt and some grain aromas. Taste has more citrus flavors upfront with a slightly dry piney and herbal hop bitterness in the finish. Lightly sweet caramel and grainy malt to balance.

Tallboy dated 3/22. Just over a month old

Hazy golden body with fluffy head. Aroma is heavy on grapefruit and there is moderate bitterness in the taste. Dry. Nice IPA, nothing mind blowing though.

Excellent beer. So drinkable... The evergreen is there with the floral hops and the tea bitterness. An other example of how great is this brewery. Nothing fancy just a load of hops and a good character for a sessionable ale
