Bottle shared by jc1762. Thanks man.

Light orange body, moderate haze, white head of broken bubbles. Aromas of cantaloupe, sweet, ripe, tropical fruits on top of a malty body. Light in body, especially given the over 8% abv. Light malty aftertaste. Tasty.

Disappointed in this one. It tasted like an old pale ale. The hops seemed like they were faded and the malts were dominant. TG has made a lot of great pale ales and IPAs but for me, this one was off.

Poured hazy brunt orange with fluffy white head that laced well. Scent is orange, tropical fruit, pine. Flavor is orange peel, mango, and bitter pine to finish. Pretty dank beer. Nice smooth mouthfeel. This beer definitely leaves lingers in your mouth. Another solid TG IPA.

L: Light orange yellow with a bit of cloudiness and a head that lingers
S: smells of hoppy citrus mainly. Nice boozy smell underneath.
T: taste doesn't follow the nose. Big alcohol and onion in this one. the juicyness comes underneath.
F: a bit sticky and medium carbonation.

O: this is different from the other TG DIPAs I have had. Still has that citrus flavor but take more of a backseat to other flavors. Pretty solid.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into an IPA glass.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat hazy amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and a big two finger off white head that slowly settles into a thin creamy patch.

Smell: A very juicy and dank hop driven aroma with a scent of tropical fruit and pine. Citrus hop scent of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, melon, guava, and papaya with some pineapple and peach. Earthy hop scent of pine resin and grass. Malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker with some yeast. A little honey like sweetness as well. A very good juicy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a really juicy and dank hop dominated taste with notes of tropical fruit and pine. Upfront citrus hop notes of orange peel, mango, grapefruit, guava, papaya, and melon along with some peach and pineapple. Earthy hop notes of pine and grass. Backing malt notes of caramel, cracker, and grains along with yeast. A little honey like malt sweetness. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Juicy, oily, and fairly sticky.

Overall: Another great juicy Double IPA from Toppling Goliath. Very nice citrus fruit and pine resin flavor.

Quite bitter but very approachable. Was hoping for more upfront citrus in the flavor, but got more pine. The look probably tricked me into thinking i was getting King Sue!

Floral nose, good offering!

Poured into a tulip glass from a 22oz bottle.

Pours a nice bright light orange color with some peach colored hues. Nice thin white head shoots up and recedes pretty quick.

Aroma starts off dank with grassy notes that are then enveloped by a piney and juicy resinous note. Tropical fruit and papaya are present in the nose. Slight caramel malt sweetness is present.

Flavor follows the nose pretty well. Dank and tropical with some piney resinous notes as well. Bitter but rounded and approachable for a DIPA. A fruity slightly sweet finish rounds out a semi dry mouthfeel that is light but slightly slick.

poured 22oz bottle into chalice.

A - Hazy apricot color with a thin 1 finger bright white head. The head fades into a thick ring and leaves behind very fat swaths of lacing on the glass.

S - The aroma is hop intensive with notes of mango and other tropical fruits. The grassy and piney bitterness from the Galaxy really dominates. Some hidden orange is with the bready malts.

T - As others have noted, this is a bitter IPA. The pine is very up front, with the light citrus character. Some tropical notes are found, but less than in the aroma. Some of the pale malt adds sweetness in the middle, but it finishes with a bitter blast.

M - Medium body, good carbonation. Very bitter and dry on the finish.

O - This is a good representation of the Galaxy hop. I have only had one other from Point Brewery of all places. I like this hop blended with others more than alone.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy bright orange body. Nice white head. Chunky thick collar.

Smell - Doesn't smell the way I expected it to. It's very tropical, but has a must or mineral aroma too. Kinda detracts. Doesn't smell that sweet.

Taste - Much more dynamic. Orange, some piney hops, lots of tropical fruit. Grainy and a little bitter in the back end.

Mouthfeel - Medium body, maybe pushing medium heavy. Creamy carbonation texture.

Overall - Wasn't enthused at first, but this really grew on me. Very tasty.

Twisted Galaxy - Toppling Goliath Brewing Company - Decorah, Iowa - Imperial/Double IPA - 7.20% ABV - This fruit forward DIPA poured a hazy golden orange color with a small head that dissipates quickly. The nose featured pungent aromas of fresh peaches, juicy oranges, grassy earth, and bready malts that blend together subtly. The mouth was a bit dry, but featured flavors of oranges, peach, guava, and mango. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with a crisp, sharp, and fruity finish that showcases the Galaxy hop well. This was a solid beer, but not nearly as good as King Sue, and some of @tgbrews other offerings. Thank you to, @billylightning for getting this one out to me! 93/100

Double IPA with, umm, Galaxy hops.

Pours dark gold. Smells earthy and green, like a mix of pine and peat moss. Pretty tame for a double IPA, but pleasant. Tastes sharp up front, starting off with big potting soil nodes and moving into a middle as thick and fruity as guava nectar. Well, maybe not that thick and fruity, but still darn surprising after the boilerplate start. The fruit lingers through to the end, balanced out by bready yeast and a lightly toasty malt finish. Nice

Smelled and tasted like bubble gum up front but the end was very bitter & resony which kinda ruined this beer for me. Nice mouthfeel as with any TG IPA and nose is juicy, fruity, & bubble gum. Not bad offering, very unique, but would not seek this out again.

Beigehead. Golden orange in color. Sticky lace left.

Flavor profile is very juicy. Pineapple, mango, papaya, and a mix of other tropical fruits I probably have never even heard of. Very citrusy. This beer is also pretty dank. Not weedy, but extremely hoppy. Fresh and earthy. Hop resiny. Has a bready malt profile. The bitterness is definitely there, but not in a bad overpowering way.

Overall, another solid ipa from TG. This stuff is very drinkable and very flavorful.

650ml bottle. Served in a snifter 1/1/15.

A- Hazy copper-orange body, half finger white head with short retention time. Not a ton of longevity. Not much lacing.

S- Tropical fruits, stone fruit, sweet bready pale malt, a bit of that spicy galaxy hop character, passion fruit. Very nice fruitiness especially as it warms up, complemented by the sweet bready/honey-like pale malt.

F- This is a pretty bitter beer at first, served chilled. Mostly bitter citrus at first, but as it opens up, I get more of that distinct tropical fruit, citrus character of Galaxy hops. There is a nice, particularly sweet pale malt backbone that really brings a lot of sweetness. At the same time it doesn't really balance out the bitterness on the backend, which is a bit of a weird dynamic.

M- Medium body, solidly carbonated. Crisp, dry with quite the bitter citrus and resinous finish. It makes it a bit less drinkable than otherwise should be.

O- Wish this wasn't as bitter. Not close to being the best Galaxy DIPA I've had- I would definitely nominate Hill Farmstead Double Galaxy and Pipeworks Galaxy Unicorn for that award. Still, decent effort by TG.

Final score: 4.00

Bottled on December 18, drank on December 19th. Poured into a PseudoSue pint glass, not much head on it maybe a cm or 2, it faded quickly and just hangs around the edges. Enjoyed in my favorite recliner.

L: Hazy orange. Can't see through it, can barely make out light on the other side. Think of a thick wheat beer. Leaves a good lacing as you drink it down.

S: Orange and Grapefruit... That's it that's all. Tropical.

T: Grapefruit right up front, mellows to oranges, all the while an earthy dank flavor takes over. Green onion and onion heavily present, but in the best way possible. Not overly bitter in anyway.

M: Hop tingle up front, then turns into a smooth thick yummy thing. One if the smoothest IPA's I can recall.

Had the chance to try this on-tap at the brewery and next to Sue, this is easily my favorite beer I've had from TG so far.

It looked absolutely killer in the glass. A beautiful hazy blood orange with a great 2 finger head that stuck around for the duration.

The smell of this made me realize that Galaxy hops are possibly my favorite hop variety I've ever had. Just pure dank, citrusy goodness that would fill up the room if I wasn't outside at the time.

The taste. Wow. Another testament to my love for Galaxy hops. I got a nice slap of bitterness up front but was soon greeted by that HUGE dank, earthy, and citrus goodness that this hop provides.

The mouthfeel was definitely was sticky, but mouthwatering. I was smacking my mouth a bit and almost drooling from this beer. It really makes you eager to drink more, but it's not dry so it's also easy to sip on.

Overall, this is one of my favorite offerings from TG that really show off the goodness of the Galaxy hop. It's a must try if you're at the brewery. It's a true show case of how good a single hop beer can be. Amazing stuff.

A - Fairly hazed, bronzed orange color with a small, compact, light, fluffy white head. Disappears fairly fast leaving only faint patchy lace.

S - Very strong citrus/tropical fruit hop aroma. Grapefruit, peach, hints of passionfruit. Very inviting. Touches of sweet bready and cereal malt.

T - More bitter than the nose suggested, but other than that very similar. Huge citrus hop flavors with a background sweet cereal malt. Resinous and bitter flavors come in pretty strong on the finish.

M - Medium body with average carbonation. Pretty smooth but has a strong, crisp bitter finish.

D - Lovely hop flavors with just enough malt for balance. A touch too bitter and hoppy for me to consider it overly drinkable, but the wonderfully juicy hop flavors make me want more.

Notes: On-tap at Sanctuary. Very enjoyable DIPA. Alcohol is pretty much non existant and even though there is a strong bitterness, it isn't over the top. Galaxy hops are very well displayed. Another great IPA by Toppling Goliath.

Appearance: Pours a hazy bright orange color. This one is almost glowing in my glass. A very inviting look. Head retention is average.

Smell: Very dank and viney smelling. Very intense hop aroma. A pleasent malt character shines through nicely also.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Dank hops and bitter citrus notes dominant the palate. Some rich toasted caramel notes seep through as well. Mouthfeel is very good also. Very good bitterness level along with a medium bodied balanced mouthfeel.

Overall: A very well done IPA. Very glad to have the chance to try this one. Love to try these single hopped brews.

Had this on tap at The Sanctuary in Iowa City.

Appearance: Very cloudy, light amber color body with almost no head to speak of, although I did not see the pour. The foam is very puffy and white in color. Almost no carbonation to be seen.

Smell: This one has a pretty interesting funky smell to it. It actually is not off putting at all. The hops are there, they are not bursting out of the glass, but they are there. They are definitely of the citrus variety having grapefruit, clementines, and an almost cough syrup scent at the end that is coming from that funk.

Taste: That is a darn good drink. Where on the nose you get that hop funk, on the tongue there is a herbal spiciness that hits the front of the palate. Then the hops start to bounce around hard and the grapefruit and orange notes really come out.

The bitterness and citrus feel lasts through the swallow, and is slowly accompanied by the slightest hint of biscuity malt.

Mouth feel: It is an extremely smooth swallow for a DIPA, and the alcohol is well hidden. HOORAY! That biscuit malt really helps to smooth things out and make the drink creamy. Little carbonation suits this beer just fine.

Overall: The special Australian hops in this brew really contribute to the shaping of the nose in this beer. Other than that, this is a very good DIPA, and a worthy beer to stand along other Toppling Goliath offerings like the Golden Nugget IPA.

If you find this wonderful DIPA, do not under any circumstances pass it up.
