Zelicious single-hop showcase using the Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand. Delightfully confusing aromas of citrus and mandarin oranges give way to an incredibly complex body of earth tones and marigolds. This is truly unlike any hop you’ve ever tasted.

Toppling Goliath does it again. This one is crisp, full of citrus up front and at the finish. I may like this one even better than Pseudo Sue.

16 oz can, born on 2/10/22, poured into a teku glass at 41 degrees F:
L - golden and hazy with a cloudy white head that lingered
S - pineapple, citrus, resin
T - wonderful blend of flavors, it's difficult to discern them from one another, follows the nose though
F - medium mouthfeel and carbonation
O - very nice, one of the better IPA's I've had

Looks: a bright hazy gold with white and orange highlights. Pure white foam cap leaves plenty behind and a wall of lace.

Nose: Hops: Peachy, Orange zest, lime, cucumber, star fruit and melon. Husky golden grains on the malt side.

Flavor & Feel: Hops first, zesty melon, dank orange pepper and tangy citrus. Malt now: earthy, peppery grains of the hot summertime fields.

Overall: unique for sure, intriguing without a doubt.

Wish I were a wordsmith. This pours typical orange in copper in color. Head is impressive and is THICK. Caresses the side of the glass. Nose slightly citrus. Taste is orange and piney with a bitter finish, however it fades quickly. Good stuff.

Pours a hazy orange color. A moderate layer of foam retains well. Lots of lacing.
The nose opens with sweet notes of fruity resins, notably, grape, peach, papaya, melon and lime zest. Aromas become more herbaceous and dank, with notes of cannabis.
An explosion of juicy and resiny hops is well supported by a biscuity and lightly creamy malt backbone. Notes of grape, lime, grapefruit rind, peach and an assortment of tropical fruit. A firm malt sweetness is nicely contrasted with a sticky and resiny bitterness, herbal, grassy and peppery.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The finish dries up nicely and has a resiny stickiness that leaves the palate asking for another sip. Carbonation is moderate.
I can't believe I haven't had this! One of the best IPAs I've had in a while. I need to get more.

16 oz can.

Pours a hazy orange gold color with a 2 finger creamy white head. Good retention. Leaves a crown of cobweb lacing around the glass.

Aromas of tangerines and grapefruit, with a bit of rindy orange. There's some peach and white grapes before a medley of dank, herbal grass and weed. A bit of garlic in there. Yep. This is a Nelson beer for sure.

Taste follows the nose: Citrusy up front followed by earthy dankjuice. A little grainy malt in the back. Nice balance. Finishes bitter and piney.

The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very creamy and exceptionally smooth. Has a dry finish.

Overall, this is a great NEIPA that does a wonderful job showcasing the Nelson hop. Nelson is hit-or-miss for me but it definitely hits here.

When in the land of Zee, do as the Zeelanders do. And that's the time honored tradition that Toppling Goliath brewers honor when putting together a New Zealand hop-focused ale that celebrates what's best about their Nelson Sauvin hops.

Glowing dimly with a pastel golden appearance, ZeeLander caps off with a creamy, ivory and withstanding froth before teasing the senses with an herbal and fruit array of tropical, citrus, vinous and herbal attributes. With an early focus on its malts though, the early impressions are of shortbread, cereal and light honey.

Its early grain profile is short lived as the middle palate shifts toward those unique hops and their fruity impressions. A delicious imprint of passionfruit, lemon, white grape, orange peel and guava lay on the middle palate before the ale shift its focus to an herbal and winey taste late on the palate. Verbena, green tea, white wine and fresh spruce come with a peppery bite to offset the grain sweetness and to give the fruit flavors a drying bite.

Meidum bodied and treading on the malty side of dry, the hazy IPA finishes smoothly bitter with a backdrop of wine and botanical gin lasting post-finish. Its a well balanced beer that resides on the fruitier side of the hop profile.

A: The beer is rather hazy yellow in color. It poured with a half finger high white head that quickly died down, leaving a thin collar around the edge and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of white grape and gooseberry are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors of white grapes are a bit stronger. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I enjoyed the contrasting aromas and flavors of white grape and gooseberries - especially given that it is a single hop beer.

Poured into a 20 Snulip glass canned on 2/10/22. Pours a hazy orange with a finger sticky white head that leaves loads of thin streaks of lace with nice retention. 4.25

Aroma is garlic, marijuana, pineapple, tangerine, apricot, and grapefruit rind. 4.25

Taste follows garlic and onion, marijuana, tangerine, apricot, and grapefruit rind really well balanced. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above average, faintly soft carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 6.2% it drinks bigger, but goes down ready. 4.25

Overall I like this one. It isn’t a juice bomb, but a little old school with some dank hops and fairly low in alcohol. I recommend for sure. 4.25
