Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Inspiration for our newest Hop Patrol IPA comes from the House of Faun in Pompeii, Italy. At this site, some of the world’s most famous mosaics were preserved under layers of ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. In this fashion, Pompeii IPA preserves and showcases the luxurious taste of the Mosaic hop. This single-hop IPA offers a floral aroma and a truly complex “mosaic” of taste: dark citrus and pineapple flavors, with deep earthy undertones and a persistent bitterness in the finish.

Over a month old, at least. Wondering how it would be fresher, because it's damn tasty now. Pretty clear bronze color with healthy head and lacing. Crisp citrusy scent, followed by a fruit flavor blast on the taste with a mild bitterness on the back end. Full mouth feel, mild, gentle, easy drinking. Gets better as it warms. Quite enjoyable.

Pours a cloudy, murky yellow-red with two fingers of white head. Head retention is good with lacing strewn about the glass after each sip. Aroma is dripping with tropical citrus notes - mango, orange, and papaya. Resin hop substantiates the aroma forming a more solid hop base. Flavor profile is orange, clementine, mango, melon, and papaya. Resin and herbal hops linger towards the back of the palate. Mouth feel is a touch thin, striking more of a medium-thin thickness. The thinness shows up with a sort of watery edge on the beer, killing the near crisp feel. Overall, an IPA that oozes tropical citrus that is both flavorful and smooth. No bitterness shows up, so a perfect brew for those seeking hop notes without a bitter bite. It's a straight forward citrus-centric IPA.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 22oz bottle.

It pours amber with a nit of haze and a head of about 3 fingers. The aroma is of tropical fruit, some pine and some lovely dankness. The taste is well balanced between solid sweet malts and a lingering bitterness. Chewy mouthfeel with hardly any perceivable carbonation on the tongue.
