TG is a staple for anyone in the area. Unfortunately, they are only known for one thing: hoppy IPAs. The beers are good if you like IPA, otherwise, you will be disappointed. Prices are higher than what I would have liked but it is what it is.

Large facility, with spacious tap room. Several elk head mounts. Brewing equipment behind windows. Long bar, booths, and tables. Full food menu. Has dedicated area for to go beers. More than thirty taps for beer and seltzer. Parking lot adjacent. Well trained staff. Truly a destination brewery.

I'd been wanting to visit, and I'm glad I made the trip! Pleasant and spacious taproom with a bit of a hunting-lodge vibe. Family friendly, well organized, and very efficient. I was there on a busy Sunday afternoon, but the wait time was manageable and the food was outstanding. They offer pizzas, sandwiches, apps, salads, and entrées, with kid-friendly options available. I was there for the KBBS, but there were several other world-class options available on tap and in cans. Nice little merch shop on site as well. The wait staff are second to none. Friendly and attentive to detail, they will make you feel at home. This is worth the (long) trip to the northeast Iowa countryside. Can't recommend highly enough.

On the way here, on a road trip, near the little municipal airport, was looking forward to visiting this vaunted brewery, nearing the outskirts of town, thinking about getting to the brewery, ounce in town. Saw a big red building, back off the main road, then the sign, and thought, "That is it, already!" Quick U-turn. This is a quite a new looking, really tall & metal sided building. Big, open dining room with many wooden tables on a polished concrete floor. A sizable gift shop, takes up one wall and big windows take up another, the opposite wall are also windows, though these are to look into a big brew room. There was a man analyzing tank samples at the time. The last wall is the tap bar. The ordering of beer, beer to go or food is done on computer tablets, carried around by each waitstaff person, and is very efficient. My waitress was very good and up-beat as well. Even though this is a highly esteemed brewery, it is also a good place to have a quality lunch. On to the beer. Tasted 5 beers and they rated from 4 to 4.50. Out of the 5 tried, only Pseudo Sue pale ale, is available outside their brewery taproom. Favorites were, TG Pils - German pilsner & Citroid - imperial I.P.A.

So I pulled in to the parking lot about an hour before they closed on a Friday night while on vacation. It is a large building, with an ample beer garden out front and a huge high ceilnged tap and dining room inside. They have a long wraparound bar that handles both on site and to go sales. Most of the standards are available in cold four packs to go but the prices are still pretty hefty I was kind of hoping to get a deal on site, oh well. The gift store and apparel shop was pretty nice and there is a decorative wall with a number of impressive elk and deer heads near the entrance. Everyone was friendly and I would definitely come back and get the full experience.

Toured the brewery, ate decent pizza. The place is nice, nothing really special. But obviously the best was the flight of beer. 5 small glasses. It was good time to explore their offering.

Toppling Goliath seems to be in the middle of nowhere but it’s very easy to find using iPhone directions. The new, modern building has adequate parking and outside tables. Inside, there is a store area where beer to go and other items (hats, tee-shirts, openers, etc.) are available. The receipt from this area is itemized. There are multiple tables and booths available in the bar/dining area, as well as tables and conference rooms on the second floor. Rest rooms are clean and adequate. The food was excellent (I had the pork bahn mi and my wife had the house burger). Service was adequate but not stellar, but then we were there about 1600 on a Tuesday. The TVs over the bar were turned down and were not distracting. The only real complaint I have is the poor acoustics. Throughout the entire meal we could hear someone pontificating about something but could neither understand the words nor locate the speaker. Overall, I’ll make a side-trip there again.

This is a destination a monument to Toppling Goliath Brewing. It sits outside of the downtown old Decorah tap house by a couple of miles. Its large with outdoor seating and fire pits,Inside is a large two story tap room with a fireplace and a north wood cabin feel. A bar with a kitchen and brew to go cooler right when you walk in. Plenty of seating with a nice wait staff. 15 or so brews on tap with flights available. Very nicely done.

Excellent location and space compared to the original location. I could really tell this brewery I visited years ago was starting to make a large impact on the craft scene. I was very impressed with the spaciousness and high availability of the beers that they offered. I only wish I would have spent more time there than what I did. Really looking forward to going back next year.
