A rustic, classic pub just off the Heumarkt and very quiet on a Sunday evening. This evening happened to be the day after the massive Saturday party for Karneval, so it makes sense. Sünner Kölsch is pretty standard, being a bit sweet yet it's very easy to drink and paired well with their delicious food. I tried the Tapas-Teller dish which is a sample of regional specialities and it was very unique and quite good. An authentic experience within a very touristy area of the city.

Located just along from Päffgen on the Salzgasse.
Visited later in the afternoon around 6pm, when we entered the place was very quiet.
As you enter you go into a normal brew pub setting with dark wood fixtures, pine tables and chairs, brewerania etc. Didnt explore but i think there was an upstairs also.
With some broken German, we established that most of the tables in the main room were reserved already for people eating later. So since we just wanted to sample the Kolsch we were directed to a not much greater than a cupboard size room, off to the right from the main room. This room consisted of just one long tall table for standing around, looking over the barrel area. This made for good viewing as we watched 3 and 5 litre Kolsch towers being poured from gravity! Behind the barrel area, there were also small fridges full of shot glasses of schnapps, Jagermeister and Korn.
Atmosphere was hard to judge as reserved seats were only starting to fill up as we left but ill bet once a few Kolsch towers were drained, the atmopshere would be pretty good
The kobe serving us was pleasant and his eagle eye spied when our glasses were empty, replacing with a fresh Kolsch.
Didnt try the food, but menu looked extensive which you can view on their website along with a spirits and winelist.
Overall, a nice friendly brewpub, but perhaps booking a table on a Saturday is good if you plan on being here for a while!
