A 330ml bottle with a BB of June 2014. Acquired a while back from Trembling Madness in York. The label doesn't give much away but I presume this is a take on a Berliner Weiss.

Poured into a tulip glass. Bottle conditioned. A hazy golden hue with chunky sediment and good carbonation. Yields a smallish head of white foam that disappears rapidly. Aroma of sour lactic acid, natural yoghurt, earthy yeast, grass/hay, subtle fruitiness and light malt. Pretty good.

Tastes of tart lactic acid with a lingering dry finish. Notes of lactic sourness, natural yoghurt, earthy yeast, light malt, subtle grass/hay and faint fruitiness. Highly attenuated and very dry, with a pervasive acidity upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with prickly carbonation and a light, insubstantial body that suits the style. The sourness puckers the palate slightly. Pretty astringent, followed by an aftertaste of lactic acid, yoghurt and mild earthiness.

Surprisingly sharp, but a good stab at the style resulting in a clean, uncomplicated character. I was half expecting it to be stuffed with fruity hops. Looks a bit lacklustre, however the aroma and flavour have a good blend of sour and yeasty notes. Decent body. A tasty and refreshing Berliner Weiss that stimulates the palate. Would be great on a hot day. Worth sampling if you have the chance.

Bottled and possibly bottle conditioned
Slightly hazy and golden. Great natural sourness like a biting into a barrel full of lemons. Long fruity but also dry finish, loved it

Light straw colour a glossy white head. Quickly diminishes to just a thin ring around the glass.
Aroma is of almonds, a bit of lemon, some grape juice.
Tate is acidic bitter lemon, green apples, grapes, gooseberries and a touch of lemon.
There is a bready almost baking yeast flavour going on in the background.
Quite a light body, very dry and acidic, long lasting lemony finish.
Overall very refreshing and tasty stuff.

Yellowish with great clarity and almost no head. A mild lemony and fruity aroma. A moderate but firm sour bite with some fruity notes to balance it. Nice wheat contributions as well. A low consistency and carbonation with a water like feel. This is a refreshing, thirst quenching beverage that's quite good for what it is.

*I tried the 3.1% version*
330ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£2.80):
Fairly interesting & despite not being optimistic going in, this one was fairly easy drinking for the style & worked well for me seeing as I'm not usually a huge fan of sour beers. Obviously it was sour but it didn't overpower & the background fruits balanced thigns out a little. Another decent beer from The Kernel although probably not one I'd personally pick up again.
