this is labeled "India Pale Ale, Citra Columbus, Chinook, Centennial"

Appearance (Look) = 6%
pale, hazy, good cream coloured head

Smell = 24%
flowers, mango, spice

Taste = 40%
citrus, mangos, slight pine, faint bitter, just enough malt sweetness. perfect balance

Mouthfeel (Feel) = 10%

Overall = 20%
perfect on style, good beer in general. awesome hops. good balance.

Picked this up at the Kernel Brewery while on vacation in London. Hazy amber-orange pour with a creamy off-white two finger head with decent retention and nice lacing. Incredible floral fresh hop nose with hints of grapefruit, peach, grass, and lemon. The taste is classic Kernel, full of fresh, resiny, piney hops with hints of grapefruit, mango, lemon zest, pineapple, and grass. A solid caramel malt base adds a nice measure of balance. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a great tangy, bitter, and pungent hop bite on the finish. Overall, this is another super hop-forward Pale Ale from the Kernel that's totally drinkable.

4C = Citra Cascade Columbus Centennial
Amber-orange, veiled appearance. Scarce but quite beautiful foam.
In the smell peach, citric, pink grapefruit, some piney and resinous. Hop-based, as expected.
In the mouth a sharp bitterness, with piney and resinous in evidence, along with light peach at the beginning, and some finishing citric. Not too long finish, but that gives the beer a good drinkability.
Pine and grapefruti in the aftertaste, light resinous.
At the end, though, a bit monotone.

Poured from a 33cL bottle into a cervoise glass. Best before 1 April 2013. Although the four C-hops aren't named, if The Kernel Brewery's past efforts are any indication, my guess is Columbus, Centennial, Chinook, and Citra.

A: Clear copper-orange with plentiful bubbles and about a finger and a half of tight head with good retention. Very little lacing. After dumping in some of the yeast, the beer takes on dull/muddy fallow colour and is opaque.

S: Deliciously hoppy. Sweet grapefruit and floral resin. Both tropical and tart. I'm a fan.

T: Surprisingly balanced and subdued. Resiny-sweet hops are balanced by a substantial, malty body. The main body is almost bready, if the bread tasted like ruby grapefruit. The aftertaste is hoppy, but not very bitter or dry, and it lasts only too briefly.

M: Less carbonated than it looks. Incredibly smooth...too much so?

O: Overall, a really nice IPA. Still, I somehow expected more. Strong, noticeably so. Recommended, perhaps, but I won't be having another one.
