Went here during my honeymoon in the fall of 2013. It's right on the beach. The food was great and the drink selection was pretty good. No complaints. It was a good experience.

I really enjoy going to this bar which is right on the beach. The atmosphere is exactly what I look for after a long day at work. Overall beer selection is good and the food is great! They have begun to add local brews to the selection which is a huge plus! Often times on friday and saturdays it becomes very busy which make the service average. Other then that this is a nice place to go and enjoy yourself. I suggest that everyone try Taphouse atleast once just for the beach and good beer. Dont forget to try the lobster dip while you are there either! You wont be disappointed.

Right on the beach, which was a plus, but I was unimpressed by both the food and the beer. To call yourself a "taphouse" I would expect to be plenty of craft beer on tap. There were some locals and some craft, but a majority was the typical bud, miller, coors, sam, yuengling, etc. I agree with the previous reviewer and thought the prices were a little high. I had asked about a few of the locals and the waitress gave no more of a description than what was listed on the menu, but she was a little flaky to begin with so I didn't expect much...We ordered nachos and wings. Nachos were ok, wings were terrible, dry and flavorless. The place was pretty dead for dinner time and the music was extremely loud. Was there at the end of August, heard they just recently opened so maybe they'll get better.

Visited mid-August 2010. Great location right on the ocean, but that's about where it ends. Granted, Virginia Beach doesn't have a great selection of good beer bars, but the prices and poor beer knowledge by the staff here make this place easily forgettable. One example: a 24 oz Jefferson Reserve here runs you $13. At Empire in Norfolk, a 20 oz JR is $6. Also, though this place has a "great selection," many of the taps are taken up by Miller, Bud, Coors, etc. The beer menu is posted online, so take a look for yourself. If you want good beer for a reasonable price at the Oceanfront, head to the Regal Beagle. If money isn't an issue or you just want a good view of the ocean, this is the place.

We were very happy to find that the one craft beer bar in Va. Beach was in our hotel. Stopped in for an afternoon beer at the bar, then later that night for dinner, 8/13/10.

This place is surprisingly rowdy at any time of the day. Lots of day drunks, night drunks, you name it. There is a rectangular bar on the right as you enter, with a large dining room behind. A good amount of outdoor seating too.

Beer list is split about evenly between craft taps and macro stuff. A few locals, of which the Williamsburg Alewerks Chesapeake Pale was my steady ender. Nice diversity with some Va. beer from Legend and Starr Hill, some smaller craft like Bluegrass and selections from Terrapin, Brooklyn, Allagash and DFH. Good range of styles too. I am not sure of the wisdom of serving everything in 16 and 24 oz. pours, even 90 Minute IPA and Aventinus. Maybe that explains the high drunk quotient at 3pm and 7pm...

Food was pretty forgettable pub grub and pizza. Not terrible but not real good either. Service was decent for a Friday rush.

I enjoyed this place a lot considering I expected to find no decent beer bars when we planned this trip. Not up to the standards of where we live, or of places we visit on Beercations, but for a family vacation, highly recommended.

I chose to actually try the food this time with the wife. BIG mistake. The nachos looked freshly cooked but were topped with ballpark cheeze whiz and nasty sour cream. I had the reuben and it was very greasy and not very good. My wife had a wrap that was soaked in dressing and, again, not very good. The service was kind of bad too. The waiter didnt write anything down, and we made extra requests, so of course, he missed almost everything. They also turned the music up very loud at 430p on a Wednesday afternoon. We had to ask them to turn it down. Apart from the beer, (the one notable beer was Kentucky Bluegrass Barrel Aged Stout) I wouldnt expect much from this place. I certainly wont eat here again.

This is by far the best place in Va Beach to get a quality draft beer. It is located in the Hampton Inn South on Virginia Beach. I remember staying at the Hampton about two years ago and did not even remember/know this place was here.

Location and atmosphere are great. Right on the beach at the boardwalk area with plenty of sights. The selection was pretty stellar. There were 32 drafts and about 25 were quality beers. They had Willimasburg Ale Werks, Legend, DFH 90minute, Arrogant Bastard, Aventinus, two belgians, and plenty more.

I cant believe I have never been here before but it will certainly be my go-to place for draft beer in the Va Beach area.
