Earthy and spicy notes from both the hops and the rye malt, complimented by the floral and piney aromatics.

12 oz can. Pours hazy golden orange with a medium fluffy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet caramel malt and fruit with floral rye hops.
The flavor is sweet caramel malt with fruit and rye and a piney hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.
Overall, a decent DIPA.

Slightly hazed ruby orange body with a nice sized cream colored head sits well amongst the top of chalice, I'm drinking from. Aroma has notes of spicy rye, herbal mellow hops, a bit of citrus pith and that's it. The can is awesome If I was on top of the photo sizes and adjusting those I would definitely add a pic of the can adorned with Mike Hess's name and two griffins with a Hess family shield. Flavor has citrus, mixed with some rye malts, pretty sweet it states that there's 86 IBUs here I just believe that. A bit cloying with malt/rye sweetness coating the palate between sips, hard to sip on definitely the weak link of the bunch from 16 ounce pounder cans in California. Mouthfeel let's the hop oils and lack of carbonation sit on the palate creating some sensation of residual sugars left behind to spoil the experience a bit. Overall, an ultra weak impressionistic young rye IPA from SoCal.

Poured from a can into a pint glass.
L: Beautiful deep orange color. Crystal clear. Nice thick head
S: Sweet. Citrus. Toasted grain.
T: Sweet. Toasted. Malty.
Lots of hop bitterness as you would expect in an IPA.
Can definitely taste the 8% alcohol
F: Fairly heavy body.
Well carbonated
O: Excellent example of an IPA. Though at 8% ABV (which you can taste), to me it's more of a double or imperial IPA.
There is a lot of hop bitterness, but I didn't get much hop aroma even though the can says they dry hop with over a pound of Sterling and Chinook hops per barrel.
