This is my new favorite liquor store in Topeka. It just has more high quality beer than the other stores. Plus, despite the fact that Kansas has had Sprecher Ales available for several months this was the only (of 4) places that actually had any in stock. I grabbed the last two 2007 GI Bourbon County Stouts. They still have a couple 4-packs of 2008. Good line-up of bombers, complete with some of the newer breweries available in KS - like Hoppin' Frog. The have a handful of singles available for $1.99 each. The service was okay. Lots of RB shelf talkers were place on the shelves. Too bad more of the good craft beer isn't in coolers. All in all, maybe the best stop in T-Town.

Correction: It currently IS the best place in Topeka. What it lacks in volume and variety it makes up in quality. Like Hoppin' Frog Naked Evil.

Topeka is a desert for good food, drinks and times. I grew up here and left it asap. You won't find much in Topeka, but there are some surprises.

Fleming Place W/S is one of them. It's next to Dillons just off of Gage, across from the zoo. It's a small place with five aisles of wine directing traffic to the back of the narrow store. Up front there's a stand alone cooler with Coke, water, etc, and some bombers of beer. Not a huge selection, but I saw an Ommegang Ommegeddon in there and was shocked. So I headed to the back where 10 cooler doors await. Nothing too special here; some Sam Adams and Boulevard, and Goose Island. Surprised to see some North Coast. Just then the 'dude' behind the counter offered assistance, and I told him about my beer geekiness. He directed me to the last aisle and 'presto' and whole long shelf (and 1/2) of beer. Warm, but hey. Half of the space contained four and six packs, the front half singles and bombers. Now, the selection isn't all that big compared to, say, Devlin's, but it seems more compact with more variety. A whole line of Hoppin' Frog impressed me (I bought 2 BORIS, 2 BA BORIS, and other goodies). Nice selection of Colorado beers. Some Tallgrass, North Coast, Bear Rep., Big Sky, Goose Island and Boulevard 750s. Imports were a bit fewer, but good to see. Watch out for old IPAs. Topeka isn't the beer geek hangout so stuff might be old, but for some beer (2007 G.I. BCBS) that's good to see.
Nice prices, too.
