Hand-pulled pint into a UK sleeve on 1 May 2013 in a local pub I rarely use.

Amber, clear body with a white head that produced some good lacing.

Hops first and foremost, as the name suggests, but this isn't a hop bomb or even a beer majoring on hops, just not a lot of malt presence throughout.

I found it boring and bland to be honest, a semi-dry finish with uninteresting flavours: fruit esters blend with mildly citrus hints, but nothing was strong or bold. Not a bad beer, just not my cup of tea.

Handpump halfpint at the Eagle and Child in Oxford.

A: Clear deep amber body under a wispy ring of off-white head. Average.

S: Fruity, with both specialty malts and some hops playing their parts. Not nearly as hoppy as the name would suggest, but just fine for a Bitter.

T: Floral hops and fruity malts. Sweet. Apricot preserves. Bittersweet finish. Disappointing in terms of hoppiness, but still quite quaffable.

M: Smooth, slick medium body. Very low carbonation. Ok.

O: Why do some breweries use hop puns to describe beers that aren't hop-forward?

Cheers!
