Notes / Commercial Description:
TROOPER takes its name from the Iron Maiden song which is inspired by the famous Charge of the Light Brigade. Being a real ale enthusiast, vocalist Bruce Dickinson has developed a beer which has true depth of character.

TROOPER is a Premium British Beer inspired by Iron Maiden and handcrafted at Robinsons brewery. Malt flavours and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade hops dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from 16.9 oz. bottle into an Upland pint glass.

A: Dark gold to bronze, nearly completely clear, with a thin white head and medium visible carbonation.

S: Bready and pilsner malts with a bit of toasted character dominate. It smells to me of some lager yeastiness, mild fruity yeast esters, and a bit of sulfur.

T: Follows the nose almost exactly – bready and less pilsner malts, lager yeast, mild lemon zest and grassy hops. It stays almost balanced but still a bit malt-prominent on the follow.

M: Body seems a little on the watery side, medium carbonation, and low alcohol presence.

O: This required a double-check of the label. It clearly says ale, but this really drinks more like a lager. As an ESB (as listed here, I don't see that indicated on the label) it's even less appealing. It really isn't particularly good. Nothing I'd say you need to avoid, but nothing to even consider going out of your way for.

Iron Maiden Trooper brewed by Robinsons Family Brewers, with an ABV of 4.70% This brew pours out a nice deep amber color with a nice white head. This brew has the look of most brews on the market, maybe a bit darker. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, the color is nice. The smell of Iron Maiden Trooper, is rich with grains , and malts. You do pick up on some hops at the end of this brew. There is also a nice sweetness to the smell of this brew. Now for the taste, it is bold with flavors. You pick up on a lot of grins in the taste of this brew. Nothing bad, there are a few hops in the taste as well. There is also a nice mild smooth ,sweetness to the taste of this brew. This is a nice drinking brew. There is nothing overpowering about Iron Maiden Trooper, it has a real nice balance to it. The body to this brew is lighter than most but not to light. The mouthfeel is Bold, smooth, light , and refreshing. Overall I'm giving Iron Maiden Trooper a 4.25 out of 5. Robinsons Family Brewers did a nice job with this one. I would buy this brew again.

Very unique beer. I don't usually go for lighter beers, but the use of cascade hops in this ale give The Trooper a bitter and refreshing kick like Dave Murray's riff on the titular track of Iron Maiden's classic album.

Nicely balanced a hint of toffee maltiness that finishes with a mild hop bitterness

Clear copper color with creamy head. Hoppy fresh aroma has citrus, caramel and moderate carbonation. Overall the beer is nicely balanced and quite drinkable. Solid beer. Up the Irons!

it's actually not bad...... I've heard low opinions on this, but it's actually a pretty decent brew. definitely a British beer and definitely a 'bitter'. low abv but a lot of character not over-hopped....

Love me some Maiden.Poured into an imperial pint glass a clear rich golden with a thin wispy head that was gone in a flash, great color, dissapointing head.Aromas of deep caramel biscuit and hint of brown sugar,a faint green apple-like sourness as well.A light mouthfeel near being watery but not quite.Nice flavors for what it is,a subtle English ESB,caramel and buttery tones with a tinge of iron, the green apple notes come through again in the finish along with a light smattering of leafy hops. The beer is eh...ok,the band kicks ass and the charge of the light brigade was very heroic.
