You know what, this isn't a quad by definition, but for $3, it is difficult to pass up. Has an amber color, thick foamy head, and lots of co2 pressing towards the top of the glass. You're met by a sweet fruity malt profile with some phenolic tang and a little bready yeastiness. Can't say it smells like a quad, but it is definitely a decent smelling Belgian-style brew. Tastes more like a Belgian strong-golden ale than anything else, even Delirium status in some aspects, especially the spice (I drank this as room temp...). Not a bad beer but not a good quad.

Served from a 22 oz. bomber that I aged in our cellar for about a year. Poured into a Delirium Tremens snifter. There was virtually zero room between the bottle cap and the beer, which was a little odd. Very little oxygen in there.

A - It pours a clear coppery-orange with very minimal head. Moderate lacing. Definitely a little light looking for the style, and lacks the "look" of a quad.

S - Not much of interest here. Upfront light candied fruit and sweet malts. It has a surprising, and not necessarily welcomed, bit of cereal malt that comes through prominently.

T - Only a couple of surprises here compared to the nose. Candied fruit and sugars right up front. A bit of tobacco and leather comes through, which I was not expecting to find in here. A bit of straw-like flavors round it out. Zero hops, but that's to be expected for a year-old quad.

M - Thin, flat, and sweet. Not a good representation of the style in my opinion.

O - A technically sound beer, but nothing that I'd be interested in having again or recommending to my friends. Yes, it is a quad. Yes, it tastes okay. No, there's nothing special here.

A - Pours a clear copper-orange color with a thin finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lace.

S - Aroma is a mix of sweet dark fruits with some caramel malts, some Belgian yeast smells with some banana and spice, some light fruit, and a bit of booze.

T - Starts off with some sweet rich cherry and other dark fruits with some candi sugar. Through the middle some Belgian yeast flavors come through with some spice and a bit of booze. The finish is a mix of dark cherry (almost cough syrupy), Belgian yeast, spices, candi sugar, and booze.

M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a warming and sweet finish.

D - Pretty drinkable. The beer is just the slightest bit cough syrupy, but otherwise the flavors are solid and the 11% ABV is not overly strong.

22oz into a tulip. Pours a crystal clear gorgeous new copper penny, minor head required an encouraging pour, minor lacing.

Aroma is primarily a phenolic note, clove with solvent banana esters.

Flavor is mildly sweet with no fruity definition, no dark fruits. A jumble of non distinct sensations. Taste is lacking in complexity. Aftertaste is an unrefined off kilter mild bitter with a touch of tobacco, not a strength. Thin bodied mouthfeel.

The expectations from a 22oz, $3.50, 11% quad were fully met.
