12 Days of Milkshake Stout – The addition of even more of the seven different malts we use,; along with cocoa nibs a low hop level creates a deep dark beer featuring rich, sweet roasted flavors. The addition of lactose (milk sugar) adds complexity, body, and a residual sweetness lending a smooth creamy texture to this full-flavored and now full bodied brew.

Deep dark black color with a nice frothy beige head. Starts at 2 fingers and gradually fades to 1/2 finger, tons of retention and tons of lace.
Aromas of vanilla and coffee beans, some roasty and spiced flavors, much like a coffee shop. Good nose.
Flavor is roasty to start, with some toasted dark bread, then some sour coffee bean...then chalk, clay, and blood. Some bitter tea notes flutter in and out. Quite a let down here.
Feel is again somewhat thin and stays within medium body territory, flirting with the heavier side of it. Roasty finish, and a chalky residue.
Overall I wasn't expecting much, given the rest of their lineup. I was still let down. Boo.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This fridge lurker pours a dark brownish black
with a moderate head of kahki foam that settles to a thick ring, thin dusty layer,
and shows faint lacing. Nose of Chocolate, cream, char, roast, and coffee
hints. Flavors lightly exceed the nose with dark chocolate, cream, vanilla,
medium char, dark roast, dark coffee notes, light brulee, and subtle dark
fruit hints with faint herbal hops. Mouth feel is medium full, medium light
verging on light carbonation, and a sweet but lightly thin finish.
Overall, decent but could use a better mouth feel
Cheers

16 ounce can, best by date of 07/01/21 stamped on the bottom of the can, 7.5% ABV on label, part of the 2020 12 Days of Milkshake Stout sampler pack. Served in a Spiegelau stout glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around a while. There's a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like cocoa, roasted malt, coffee and vanilla. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some burnt/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, cream and caramel flavors. It's more roasty/bitter tasting than sweet to me. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought it was a good enough brew, worth a try if you get the chance to!

Kind of a one note wonder. Plenty of bittersweet chocolate happening, but not much else, besides sweet malt, maybe a wee bit of coffee. Unremittingly sweet on the follow through and as the beer warms up. Drinkable, but not a lot of dimension.

Pours dark brown/ borderline black with two fingers of rocky mocha head.
Smells of roasty malts, dark chocolate, vanilla pops up.
Taste follows, predominantly roasty malts and cocoa as advertised. A touch a villa sweetness comes through as well.
Full side of medium body, good carb level, creamy texture.
Overall solid milk stout, I'd have it again if available.

Ale with milk sugars and cacao nibs
APPEARNCE: Clear dark brown pour yields a two finger, medium looking, slightly foamy looking, light tan head with okay retention. Black body with higher levels of carbonation evident. Head recedes to a splotchy wisp and ring leaving some nice lacing on the glass. Ring remains but leaves no real lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Roasted notes with milk chocolate, lactose sugar, vanilla cream, butterscotch aromas and some light hints of coffee as well.
TASTE: Roasted flavors, milk chocolate, lactose sugars and vanilla up front. Some more roasted and burnt flavors at the swallow. Big, roasted finish of burnt malts, lactose and vanilla cream, milk chocolate and caramel sweetness, as well as a bitter, roasted coffee character as well. Aftertaste is big, roasted and persistent. Flavorful for sure.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body and medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes stickier on the palate, Lots of roasted bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is certainly an imperial version of the others. It’s bigger, more roasted, and more bitter-sweet than the rest of the series. This is the one to put in a freshly emptied bourbon barrel. Good stuff and enjoyable. Cheers!

473 ml can served cold as part of the mixed six pack. Served into a pint glass.
Appearance - dark brown, eliminates light topped with a finger of tan head. Some streaky lacing left behind,
Smell - dark chocolate mostly hints of coffee and possible some cocoa nibs and milk chocolate, not a lot else, but does the chocolate dimension quite nicely.
Taste - bittersweet chocolate, never ranching too sweet or unbalanced. List bits of other chocolates and faint suggestion of coffee but tasty across the board.
Mouthfeel - full bodied, pretty smooth and booze is well hidden. Thick and milkshake like.
Overall - a pretty damn good imperial milk stout that is flavourful, disguises the booze nicely. Worth a try and likely one of the better beers in the pack although I'm only done beer 2 of 6.

Pours a brown color with a foamy tan head that lasts quite a while. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, caramel and vanilla. Taste is sweet with the chocolate, caramel, and a vanilla up front and a hint of coffee throughout. Creamy and smooth.
