Very dark brown with a light caramel head on top. Smells very sweet, hints of chocolate. Can taste the roasted malts with sugar added to it. Very creamy.

Bought a 4 pack of pint cans.

Look: very dark brown, a little bit of tan head
Smell: espresso, milky chocolate, roasted malt
Taste: espresso, dark chocolate, roasted malt, hint of vanilla. a subtle bitter undertone as well. very good.
Feel: medium to full body (a little on the light side for a stout), lightly carbonated, smooth

Overall: a more complex beer than I was expecting. All the parts of this beer complement each other very well.

On tap

A - Beer arrived at the table with a very thin head that is off white in color and dissipates to a very thin lacing very quickly. The beer itself is black and opaque in color with a reddish golden ring around the very edges of the bottom of the glass. No carbonation is visible in the beer. 3.5/5

S - Very dark and deep with notes of espresso, vanilla, dark chocolate, molasses, with a milky sweetness underlying all of this. Dark roasted malt and heavy on the nose. Very deep and appealing. 3.75/5

T - Espresso, vanilla, and dark roasted malt all come out together at the very front of the beer. This beer is surprisingly bitter and only somewhat sweet, which is not what I expected in the slightest. There is some lactic, milky flavor that acts as an undertone along with dark chocolate. Herbal hops begin to come out in the final third of the flavor with a light bitterness that lingers somewhat. 4.25/5

M - Full bodied and heavy with a light carbonation tickle up front that lead into a slightly creamy mouthfeel for the remainder of the sip. No drying and the beer disappears from the palate quickly after swallowing. 4/5

O - Unexpected is not necessarily a bad thing. That is what I mostly take away from this beer due to the unexpected bitterness when I was really expected a deep, dark, sweet beer. The bitterness is not overwhelming or unpleasant in the slightest, it was just unexpected. The milk shake flavors are still there along with some espresso and vanilla, creating an interesting, and entirely different, experience than the normal milk shake stout. 3.75/5

A non-threatening, drinkable stout. Dark brown with mild carbonation. Burnt malts, smooth finish, but not very complicated. Almost a porter. More coffee flavors as it warms. Tried it at Buffalo Bill's Brew BQ.

Very good beer and apparently vastly underrated and under appreciated. While this is not KBS, it is well crafted with solid flavors lent from bourbon barrel aging. Rich and malty with wonderful cocoa notes. I'm not a huge milk stout fan but will easily make exception for this crafted brew.

Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Roasted malt, raw cocoa, and some sweetness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with sweetness and some roast.

Had this on tap at Aubree's pizza in Grand Blanc Mi.
This could have been my meal..ha ha....

Had again from can 4 pack...... still same rating.
I think it a great milkshake stout... remember it a milkshake stout, it will be a little thin and not as heavy...oh just my opinion. Hell im lactose intolerant....uh oh

Pours (from a tall boy can) a nice dark black with a brown head that dissipates quickly. Smell is of chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is similar, with a slightly thin mouthfeel and decent carbonation. Overall, solid if unspectacular stout. Don't really pick up creamy/milk feel or taste, but the can is about 6mos old.

Poured from a 16 ounce can into a 12 ounce mug
Pours a thick dense 2.5 finger dark tan head, nearly jet black in color.
Smell is of roasted coffee and dark chocolate but I'm getting some tinny metallic smell in there as well, which is disappointing.
Taste is of deep chocolate fading quickly to metal and then to coffee, that metallic flavor irks me.
A rather full and creamy mouthfeel for a milder stout.
Overall impressive flavor for the abv and simplicity of ingredients but somewhat let down by the metal smell and flavor from the can.

Poured on-tap and served in a shaker pint, the beer is jet black, smooth, with a foamy, light, fluffy, off-white head. Nose of rich chocolate, subtle bitter coffee, and creamy highlights. Flavors are rich and creamy chocolate forward, with subtle cream highlights, and subtle roasted coffee notes. Smooth, creamy body, with a subtle coffee and chocolate aftertaste. Smooth, velvety, creamy finish. Good beer.

Rochester Mills Milkshake Stout.

Don't know a thing about this one or thia brewery but I needed to round out my mix a six so this is what I chose. A ' milkshake ' stout sounds pretty good to me, so let's see what we get.

Look - From the 16oz can into a pint glass. Pours a deep, nearly impenetrable black with a huge bubbly mocha colored head that nearly fills the entirety of the glass. Is this thing nitro?. Carbonation is unreadable due to the thick coloration. The head has thus far retained exceptionally and will likely stick around throughout the drink. Surprisingly no lacing or stick remains whatsoever.

Smell - The cocoa nibs are the largest player in the nose, with a huge character of roasty meatyneas. Lactate cream and a smidge of coffee are prevelant as well as expected. Not much else going on.

Taste - Chocolate cocoa nibs and lactose are immediately present on the taste buds the moment the beer hits. Burnt meat char rounds out the rest of the flavor with a touch of selrzer water upon the swallow. Not a very complex profile going on here.

Feel - Seeing as the head retained very well even to now the mouthfeel is extremely creamy, but very, very watery and thin. The carbonation appears to vary here and there. Swallows very easily and doesn't hit the stomach heavy. Bit of a tin flavor as it sits.

Overall - This is the kind of beer you give to somebody new to craft beer. Not really a whole lot going on here, and it smells better than it tastes. Quaffable nontheless, but at $8 a four pack I'd pass in the future given the low ABV of only 5%. Not much bang for your buck. Despite that, I would have another beer from this brewery if I found it in the singles section. Perfectly fine beer.

Went to an Oktoberfest party in South Central PA yesterday and a person drove from Michigan and brought a few cans of these along. A very decent and flavorful light stout. Recommend.

A - Very dark beer for 5% with only a 1/2 inch of head that clears rather quickly.
S - Quite good not screaming Milk shake but sweet cocoa nibs
T - Much better than it smells semi sweet cocoa nibs and coffee goodness.
M - Smooth taste like a beer not like water with good flavors.

Overall for a simple stout flavored with cocoa nibs its quite good. Well worth the $2.50 pounder price.

16 ounce can, stamp on the bottom says best before 11/21/15, 4-pack bought at Topsy Turvey's on a recent trip to Put-in-Bay. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. The aroma is nice, the brew smells like milk chocolate, cream, roasted malt and some coffee. The taste is pretty much just like the aroma, there's a lot of milk chocolate/cream sweetness along with some coffee and burnt/roasty malt bitterness. It's a bit creamy, slick, and easy enough to drink. There's a good amount of carbonation in this. Not a bad brew at all, I'm glad I bought it. I won't have any problems finishing the one can I have left!

Enjoyed from the can in a snifter. This nice stout pours a nice brownish black with a very nice head of light brown foam that dissipates to a very thick ring, light thin layer, and nice lacing. Nose of strong coffee, cocoa, and subtle cream. Flavors follow the nose with coffee and dark cocoa flavors on all sides mixing with a subtle cola flavor then fading into a light sweet cream. Strong metallic flavors keep this brew from shining brighter. Smooth and creamy mouth feel is nice and roasty and finishes lightly bitter. Again the metallic flavor in the back. I want to like this beer more than I am tasting, it has all the parts that are very nice, but the tin and metal flavors are killing the overall enjoyment.

Great dark chocolate color and nice khaki head.
Goes down smooth also smells nice.
Would have liked a higher ABV but I'm over that.
Can't taste a lot of chocolate more of a burnt malt taste but not very prominent.
Would love to see it as a nitro

A: [3.50] A pour down the middle formed a 2 finger khaki head over a dark cola colored beer. the can has a best by date of (10/02/15) but I can't find an ABV.

S: [3.25] I get quite a bit of dark roast coffee on the nose. Dark roast coffee with cream and sugar maybe.

T: [3.25] The taste follows the nose with a nice roasty flavor and coffee. I am not getting much in the way of chocolate or vanilla. The coffee and roast flavors are the most prominent.

M: [3.25] The body is a little thin but the lingering smoke and roastiness is nice.

O: [3.25] This is a decent beer. It is my first from this brewery. I'd drink it again and try some of their other offerings. The beer looks nice in the glass. The nose presents as coffee (even though there are cocoa nibs in the beer). The taste is a nice roasted coffee with some additional sweetness.

Pors a dark coffee black with dark amber hues.
Lacing is adequate.
Head is light tan color.
Smell is sweet with hints of chocolate malt.
Taste is light bodied with a mouthful of creme and a mix of milk chocolate and slight burnt malt.
Very tasty...
For a low abv I do enjoy this.

Yes! I picked up a 4 pack of this on a salesman's recommendation and I don't regret it one bit. This could be a regular for me, assuming I can't get Nitro or Shake. :-)

Summery: Nothing special, easy to drink but really lacks body and flavor. Not bad, also not really worth seeking out. Just an average light bodied stout/porter

Poured from can to stout glass. Dark chocolate color with mocha head. Dissolves to small cap. Aroma and flavor similar, roasted malts, bitter coffee and cocoa. Creamy mouthfeel, feels thicker when drank from can than glass. Enjoyable.

This didn't do it for me. Thin head that fell flat quickly. Decent chocolate taste that didn't linger too long but not as rich tasting as I would have expected with the name. Was expecting a sort of desert beer but maybe would go better with a chocolate desert. Have three cans left and they will probably sit in fridge for a while

Appearance - 4.5/5
When I first cracked the can open, it fizzed out a bit. Quite disappointed about that. It's been sitting still in my fridge for at least a week. Anyway, very dark ruby-black. Lots and lots of bubbly dark tan foam. It does look appealing, I must admit. Eventually the head dies down to a thinnish layer.

Smell - 2.5/5
Metallic, perhaps a bit of cocoa. Some other strange smell which reminds me of manure. Not a great smell. Luckily I don't mind manure smell that much. And the smell is mostly really the metallic.

Taste - 3/5
My first reaction is that the taste is metallic. This is the first beer I've reviewed from a can, so perhaps canned beer always has that metallic aspect?? There is definitely some cocoa aspects, but not nearly as strong as I was expecting. Overall, not something I'd want again.

Mouthfeel - 3.25/5
Smooth, medium-high amount of medium intensity carbonation. Medium-full in body.

Overall - 3/5
I got this beer due to a recommendation from a friend. Turns out we have different sets of taste buds.

Seriously dark brown with a dark tan head. Retention is weak, drops to a thin film in a minute. Leaves scattered lacing behind.
Smell is toast, cardboard, coffee.
Taste is toasted malt, cardboard, coffee, light vanilla. Decent but no more.
Medium body, light effervescence. Drying finish.
