I need to try this again fresher and not 5 months past the enjoy by date. The general body of the beer was still there but it was much more bitter than im sure they intended because of the aging.

16oz can

Rochester Mills the Original Milkshake Stout has a very dark brown almost black colored body with a 1-finger tan head. The head shrunk leaving behind a thin layer of foam on top. The nose is of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and coca. Taste is lightly sweet and matches the nose. Mouth feel is high-medium, smooth and has medium carbonation.

Overall, a nice flavorful sweet stout.

Appearance pours decent, however head quickly disipates and resembles a flat cola, qlmost no lacing. Smell is deeply roasted malt and sweet-sour lactose but little depth. Flavor is good: chocolate, roasted nuts, with sweet lactose. A slight hint of coffee and lactose sour. Mouth feel is good and leaves a pleasant tinge with fading roasted malt.

I poured a pint into a pint glass.. and couldn't fit it all in, due to a high carbonation level that created a 2 inch head. A fine dark brown color, but virtually no lacing to speak of, as the head rapidly dissolved. The nose was faint but pleasant, with an air of roasted nutty maltiness. On the first sip, the chocolate flavor asserted itself and an appropriate sweetness for a milk stout. An overall nicely balanced stout, a bit blander than the best of the milk stouts, but pleasant enough, and the mouthfeel was good, with a surprisingly firm consistency. I like the fact that it is in 16 ounce cans.. it gets tastier, with flavors developing as the beer warms. Enjoyable!

I got a can of this beer from my good friend and old neighbor from the 'Wego. It poured an opaque dark with ecru head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had cocoa notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet cocoa presence and an espresso coffee finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Appearance is interesting. On the pour, it's way too light, almost looking like watered down coke as it comes out of the can. That said, once it's in the glass, even when held up to the light it's much darker than it appeared initially. Nice, foamy head with good retention and tons of lacing. Smell is heavy on the chocolate.

Taste is more chocolate, and overall is semi-sweet. Not particularly complex. It's smooth and easy going down, and almost has a small amount of smokiness to it. Feel is very thin.
