look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Pours a bright yet very light gold color. Thin fizzy white head dissipates quickly leaving no residual head or lacing. Effervescent bubbles course upwards through the beer. Early pour was clear, later pour was more hazy and opaque.

Smell has notes of white wine grapes, a light airy champagne like yeast, lemon peel, and a slight tartness not the nose, but very light.

Taste is reminiscent of a brut champagne. Notes of white wine, grapes, hints of lemon peel, a touch of a light champagne like yeast, pretty clean. Slight tartness, but really rather mild.

Feel is light, crisp with a hint of tartness. Very dry finish, again reminiscent of a brut.

Overall this is an unique but very good Berliner weisse - apparently (reasonably) true to the original style this is a fantastic tasting beer.

This was poured into a stange (because that is correct glassware for this style). The appearance was a hazy burnt orange peel color with a semi-thick to thin foamy white head that dissipated at a nice pace. Lacing was somewhat foamy but small bubbles. The smell had the sour wheat up front then subtle sour to bitter lemon and orange rind with a nice little bit of sweet wheat sliding in underneath as it warms. The taste was basically the same with a citrusy aftertaste about it. On the palate, this one was light bodied with a sly carbonation allowing just enough bitter harshness to accompany the feel. Overall, now that’s what a Berliner Weisse should be! Would I have this again - maybe a better question is: does a baby like milk?

One of my favorite beers, this is a Berliner Weisse style beer that is brewed with traditional mash hopping without wort boiling with a lactic acid bacteria. This style is typically a bit sour and low in alcohol. This one is 5.0% ABV. Smell is nice, slightly sour with a bit of funk. Good head retention even after I left it out for 30 minutes. Pale, opaque straw color with active carbonation. Taste: good lingering, but not overpowering, sourness that is perfect for hot weather or spicy foods. Awesome stuff! Definite A or higher.

Acquired from my local liquor store. Drank out of a King Sue Toppling Goliath teku.

Look: Poured with three and a half fingers of fluffy snow white head, almost entirely transparent with a straw colored body, little to no lacing, lots of fast down-up carbonation bubbles.

Smell: Sour yogurt, sweet wheat, grape skin, fresh squeezed lime juice, unripened pear.

Taste: Light tartness, fruit cocktail simple syrup, white grape juice, sweetened wheat cereal, lemon grass.

Feel: Light bodied, high carbonation with tongue dancing bubbles, very refreshing.

On tap at the Blind Tiger Alehouse NYC
Clear gold, sweet sour candy, sweet wheat, star of anise, cinnamon, hints of banana. A horchata berliner-weisse, sweet and spiced.

Pours an almost clear pale straw producing 3+ fingers of very finely bubbled, slow to dissipate, snow white head that leaves no lacing. Aroma light malty cracker & biscuit, sharp & lactic in a background of lemon/lime & grass. Taste is lactobacillus sour, lemon-lime & pepper backed by thin grainy & cracker malts. Finishes tart & lively with a prickly carbonation bite, a faint mineral note & a hint of something akin to a freshly extinguished candle. Aftertaste is dry & tart. Mouthfeel is light bodied with intense carbonation, fruity, dry & lively in the mouth with peppery carbonation bite that ligers on the sides & back of the tongue.

Look: Super clear completely see through

Smell: lemon, grassy, earthy, white grape.

Taste: right upfront I'm getting that white grape transitions in the mid palate to tart lemon earthy grassy notes in the finish I get a touch of orange peel and tart white grape lingers in the finish.

Feel: light body high carbonation crisp dry finish.

Overall: I like what's going on in this beer just enough tartness to complement the rest of the flavors. It's a really good beer.
