In my opinion, 1809 Berliner Weisse is an outstanding Summer brew. It has a nice sour taste that is a great thirst quencher and does not pack too much of a punch. I also like to add a taste of woodruff syrup to the Weisse. You get a "lemonade" taste. I got the tip from a German National while working in Senegal.

Loved it... not my favorite in this style... but none-the-less excited for this year round Berliner offering.

I just wish there was a TAD more complexity in the taste. But this is seriously good.

Appearance: Extremely pale yellow, clear as water, holds a thin white halo of foam that doesn't lace.

Smell: Lemon peel, light lambic vinegar sharpness, damp grain.

Taste: Mild start quickly peeks with a citric lemon juice twang that slowly fades into a wheat beer base. Seems watered down a bit, which actually helps I think.

Feel: Soft body, good carbonation.

Overall: Not my cup of tea, but a great example of the style.

One of the best of this type...not overly sour, and better tasting than all of the American attempts at this type, which come out just a little too sour.

The appearance, aroma, and feel are absolutely the best, and the dry, sharp finish is among the best. Better carbonation than most of the American runs...

Anyone who says they don't like this type, needs to try this before they commit one way or the other.

Well done.

According to the brewery, they no boil sour mash this...one more reason it is world class.
