*did not really mind would not buy*

app: icky cloudy yellow with white bubbly head

smell: oh no, smells like a heffe with some steamed greens in it. like canned spinach.

taste: lil sour lil bananas lil of the green smell sneaks in through the nose. mostly a sourish heffe

mf: nice alive and soothing

drinkable?: sure, sept for the greens

Hope that isn't the best buy date. Pours a very hazy yellow color with some straw colored hue through out. A good pour left a very sad and bubbled head. Which quickly dissipated. Lacing, whats that?

The nose is limited. The wheat comes out nicely with some spicy notes. Some grainy notes on the back end as well. Some lemony and some herbal notes. Not much in the sour department though. Very clean yeast aroma as well, would have liked more funk.

The taste is similar. The malt comes out but at least there is a slight tart/sour note on the back end. Really would like more of sour note overall. Some nice spicy wheat notes come out. There is a slight lemongrass finish coming more from the yeast than hops. Some minor funk/horse but could use more.

The body is light but some of the lemongrass gives it a fuller feel. I would like this to be much drier. Carbonation is non-existent. Overall a pretty boring berliner weiss.

Pour is bright hazed yellow with a white head. Nose has a fair bit of dirty grain, faint dusty brett, decent lacto, strong lemon. Taste is a bit sweeter, grain is there but a little messier, lacto comes in mid palate, quite a bit of lemon and gets a bit sweet. Light body, a touch syrupy, moderate carb, dry finish.

16.9oz bottle poured into a nonic.

A - the color is reminiscent of a dehydrated person's urine. pale yellow. A tall white head quickly formed and then quickly dissipated...kind of like pouring 7-up or sprite into a cup. Even though there was no head, there was continual carbonation making its way to the top of the beer. very unappetizing appearance

S - lactic acid, wheat, and grape jelly?

T - way too dry for my enjoyment. I'm not sure whether the tanginess is due to the lactic acid, the wheat, or both. If it's because of the lactic acid then there was no malt flavor to notice. It was a very, tart, sour fruit flavor with a very acidic, biting quality to it. The beer was dry throughout.

M - a very bubbly beer, like champagne.

D - i was not a fan of this beer.

Pours a clear pale honey color with a small white head that leaves a crown.

Smells like a lemon explosion. Reminds me of a white wine. Very acidic, white grapes, sour apple, hard to pick out the malt.

Tastes like a lemon explosion. It tastes more like a tart pinot grigio than a beer. The malt comes through at the end as a pale dry wheat and is quickly drowned out by the after-effect of the tartness.

Light but a little sticky, very tart and with so much acidity it's hard to pick out detailed flavors because my glands are secreting as much saliva as possible in response to the tartness. Something of a confusing experience.

This was not at all what I was expecting. However, re-evaluated under the category it actually fits, it appears to be a fairly complex and interesting brew.

But it still is like a whole tree of lemons exploding in my mouth.

pours clear yellow with a 1 finger white head that fades fast and leaves no lacing

smell is tart sour apples

tastes the same as the smell tart sour apples with maybe some lemon - not a fan

mouthfeel/drinkability - its a very light beer but overly carbonated and added to that tart sour taste make it almost painful to drink

This beer poured a very, very clear light apple juice gold in color with a three finger self destructive white foamy head. The head appeared to consume itself before setting as a light white lacing around the edges of my snifter. It's probably the clearest Berliner Weiss I've seen to date. The aroma is of light yeast with the lightest of tartness. It definitely isn't as aromatic as the other Berliners I've had. The flavor is very subtle and very light. It gives off slightly sweet pale malts, dry yeastiness, with just a tad of sourness. It's so light that I'm not even sure that sourness is the right word. It's drink fine but isn't dry like most of the style are. Perhaps this was an old bottle. I don't know, it just wasn't nearly as good as advertised.

Poured hazy yellow color with a large frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing.

Moderate wheat sour fruit aroma.

Light to medium body.

Light sour fruit flavor with a light sour finish of moderate duration.

Interesting, not my style.

A somewhat strange, overcarbonated, overly sweet like-green-grapes-and-apples and just slightly tart beer in the Berliner weisse style, Fritz Briem's attempt is one that I don't anticipate revisiting, despite having done so several times already.

A gentle pour produces a pale white head several centimeters in height, made up of medium-sized bubbles, giving a slightly sponge-like appearance. Retention is excellent, and fades to a Some residual lacing on glass, and after each sip. Body is a light golden yellow color, with light bringing out pale yellow hues. Carbonation is visible through the rather murky (60-70% opaque) beer, numerous and very active.

Scent is of sweet, green grape juice, tart apples, slightly soured wheat mash, very light lemon citrus notes, and clover flowers. For the style, somewhat expressive, but also nowhere near tart enough and with no real lactobacillus influence, despite its being mentioned.

A surprisingly sweet Berliner weisse, with a touch of lactobacillus-influenced flavor and Mcintosh apple-like tartness. Front of palate picks up flour-like wheat malts with a modest touch of tartness and lactobacillus flavor, along with moderately strong green grape and Mcintosh apple-like sweetness. Mid-palate continues the mild tartness, as mostly from Mcintosh apples and green grapes with mild wheat malt characters. Back of palate finally detects some Lactobacillus influences, along with continued Mcintosh apple tartness and green grape sweetness alongside a slight hint of wheat malt; still too sweet. Closes sweet with slight tartness, Lactobacillus-influenced flavor, and Mcintosh apples with a hint of wheat flour.

Beer is with carbonation of high intensity, leading to a very fizzy (painfully so), ultra-foamy mouthfeel that's just too much for the style and the beer itself as well. Closes semi-dry, with light stickiness remaining on the palate.
