Okay, I visited here with some college friends this weekend. I had been to the pub before in my pre-BA days. Quite a nice stop. WE sat at a large table upstairs. Downstairs are several booths tables and a horseshoe shaped bar with about 15 or stools. The decor is dark wooden beams and plaster walls. Looks nice and sets a nice tone for a meal or just for drinks. There is a smaller set of tables upstairs.
The beer selection is pretty good, with examples of most typical styles porter, IPA, golden ale, stout. They also had the strong ale which was a celebration of their 10th anniversary I think, but now is brewed occasionally throughout the year.
Nothing on cask...
Service was pretty good, food came quickly, I did have to wait a bit for one of my pints but the others came very quickly and folks did not have empty glasses at our table most of the nite.
They do sell growlers but wont fill up any but their own.
The food is typical pub grub, burgers, chicken, ribs, pretty good range. The chicken was all free range which I think is great.
All the members of my party seemed pretty happy with their food, except me. I ordered a reuben which I often purchase on visits to brewpubs. Everything was okay except that there was horseradish on the sandwich. Not expecting this the first bite was a bit of a surprise. I did try to scrape it off, but that is a pretty strong flavor.
So the sandwich wasnt great but I just would get the pulled pork next time.

Overall a solid visit if in W Mass. Stop in and have a pint!

Every time we head to Thorne's Marketplace we stop at Northampton Brewery. It's always hopping, and often they have live music on the weekend. We've had Celtic music serenade us at times.

The staff is friendly, they seat you fast, and the waitstaff is very helpful. The selection of beers is very good, both brewed there and guest beers on tap. The food is awesome, and there are even a few selections for vegetarians. Not quite as easy for vegans. They do some local sourcing.

If you're ever in the area, it's well worth a few hours to park, go to the brewery, then walk off the beers in the marketplace.

I was working in the area, and decided to stop by. The brewery is adjacent to downtown Northampton, and has a municipal parking garage literally across the street, where the first hour is free, and it's only .50 an hour after that.

It was early afternoon on a Friday in January, and there was a decent crowd at the bar, and in the booths downstairs when I arrived. When the hostess finally got to me (a sign said 'wait to be seated', but there was no one at the hostess station for at least 5 minutes, which was kind of awkward) I asked if I could sit upstairs, as it was a bit dim for my taste in the bar area. She was very accommodating, and led me upstairs to a comfortable booth with much better light.

My waitress was right there for my order, and I decided to try a flight of IPAs - they had 4 IPAs on the beer selection menu, which had at least 10 of Northampton's beers on tap available that day. A fight was four 6 ounce servings for $10, which is good price. When they arrived, the waitress give me a written chart listing all the beers ordered - a really nice touch for a beer geek! I enjoyed them all, but the 'Mean Green' DIPA was exceptional. I ordered a second flight to have while I ate, and once again I was not disappointed, with the Red Ale and 'Deckbier' standing out.

As for the meal, I had the chili, which was reasonably priced and tasty. I would have appreciated a few more chunks of beef, which was quite tender, in the chili, but overall I was satisfied. For dessert I had an apple crisp which was delicious, and went well with 'Pomona', the one lambic style beer I ordered in my second flight.

This brewery has lots of interesting events going on, including a beer & cheese night, movie nights, and even a painting class that includes beer. There is a deck that must be a fun hangout when the weather permits. If I lived in the area I would definitely be a regular here, and will certainly drop by the next time I am in the Northampton region.

Decent food, fresh brewed beers that usually aren't much to write home about. But the vibe is awesome. Great place to hang out and try some local beer. Definitely recommended for a quick lunch

Stopped here with a friend of mine on our way home from a VT trip. We stopped for a flight and some lunch. The service was good, the vibe was nice. The beers were ok, and the food was good.
