Enjoyed on tap. Arrived in a tulip, a clear straw color with a creamy off-white head. The aroma is funky with hay, grass and spice notes. It's dann tasty, big and bold for a Saison. Fruity and funky with spice and, perhaps, a touch of rye. Medium, bubbly mouthfeel.

Pours a cloudy, maize color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of alcohol, earthy, slight hop, hint of liquor, citrus, wheat, slight pale malt, and a hint of spice. Fits the style of a Saison / Farmhouse Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of earthiness, hint of smoke, slight citrus, pepper, Euro yeast, sweet malt, slight alcohol, and wheat. Overall, complex, earthy, smoky, and wheat saison (unusual but delicious), and good blend.

given my penchant for anything italian, and my major respect for all the saisons stillwater makes, this is a match made in heaven for me personally. these collaborations they have done are all good, and the price point was really fair on this one too. its a hazy but slightly less pale beer, rusty orange in color, some yeast sediment, and a huge and fluffy tan head that never settles. it smells pretty funky, yeasty, and different. maybe a kiss of brett in here, but this is less a wild beer to me as it is a rustic old world saison. in any event, the yeast makes it, spicy like white pepper and even anise, with a protein rich body and a lot of textural wheat as well in the base. the yeast has a lot to cling to, and it really takes advantage. i get a white grape fruitiness for a moment, even a hint of lemongrass and sage. i dont believe any of those things are actually in the beer, which makes this yeast that much more interesting. belgian in some respects, esters and all, but its supremely dry and well carbonated in the finish too, instantly gone for how flavorful it is. as far as saison goes, we live in a world where it seems like every brewery is making one, and so many are average and samey, especially on the local beer circuit around town here. its so nice to be refreshed by a beer like this that has no equal out there. highly impressed. i want to get another bottle and try to culture the yeast for a homebrew...

The farmlands of central Europe grew beer out of necessity and not from the adherence to style guideline or prescription. This leeway allows for something of the fruit, spice and effervescent ilk to rein in the starchy presence of biere de garde or the campfire whimsy of norther Germany.

Its burnt orange hues are softly of bronze and impressive with a rich mousey head. Doughy aromas are in strong support of orchard fruit, citrus and herb before the initial taste of light bread, biscuit, honey and powdered sugar begin to layer upon the mouth.

Its broad and starchy coat buffers the mouth from the medley of fruit and spice to come. Its moderate and bready sweetness invites the tangy-sweet flavors of ripe oranges, lemons papaya, plantain, and apples to make early impressions while dried citrus, botanicals and spice come late. Firm carbonation keeps the ale creamy and fullish while also balancing the peppercorn, spruce and minty finish.

Both malty and dry in finish, the fruit and sweetness slowly fade and leave the finish to contend with an earthy vinous acidity, spice-forward bite and hints of cut grass, spruce tip and leafy hops to dry the palate. Just shy of complete refreshment or cleanliness, the rustic aftertaste is toasty and tea-like.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

Opaque and fairly solid chestnut to dull lemon body. Not much carbonation visible except for a little stream in the middle that's hard to see, and a very minor half finger creamy white head. Manages to stay thought with a nice whipped up if small top.

Aroma is quite sharp and bretty on first pour. Real nice garden green herbs of sage and some malt chewy sweetness. Light hints of hay and sweet bakery bread dough. Interesting brett angle that stays away from pepper and hotness, even though it's quite powerful. Some juicy like fruit tones manage to squeak out in a tropical way as well.

Palate brings much of that pleasure. Real juiced and creamy full body on the mouthfeel. Hints of vanilla but quickly takes over in mild sharp flavors of sage, and mint herbality. Chewy finish with and excellent coating, aftertaste comes out in real nice hints of tropical fruits and some grapefruit like bitterness oils to match. Sweet passionfruit and peach mix it up as well, in this fuzzy tasting fruit basket saison, letting some of the nice fruit qualities go all over the place.

Real interesting take on a saison, with a varied fruity angle. Real nice.

330ml bottle poured into snifter, purchased at CBX for $9.69 wow! Hope it's good. Best before 5-31-2016
A: pours a fine frothy white 2 finger head, honey orange body, decent lacing with a thick residue near the top and spotty, carbonation
S: citrus, peppercorn, honey, sweet fresh bread, hay
M: medium light body, carbonation, mineral resin on tongue
T: some citrus, peppercorn, cattiness, phenolic, mineral water, grapefruit, wheat, hay, smooth overall finish
O: great brew with awesome aroma, the water they use must be hard due to the minerally flavor in the water

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 5/31/2016. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, peppercorn, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, light pine, and yeast/spice earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste if big lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, peppercorn, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, pine, and yeast/spice earthiness. Good amount of peppercorn/yeast spiciness and light tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, pine, and yeast/spice earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly sticky/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice spiced saison style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a cloudy golden color, nice head and soapy lace. Aroma of fruits and spices as well as a slight funky barnyard. Taste is right in line with aroma; fruity sweetness, peppery spices. Great feel; it has the crispness of a light beer but the fullness of a medium bodied brew.
I loved this brew. It was so flavorful and delicious. I'm surprised to see it is retired when I just in fact had it at Jimmy's No 43 in NYC. I would love to have this again and will had back there soon before it is kicked.

The beer comes in a golden orange.

The aroma hits of spicy saison yeast and bready malt. Fresh grass and a citrusy hops come through as well.

The flavor follows with that brightness with grapefruit and orange hops and grass. A spicy yeast quality comes through in the middle with a light crackery malt. The finish is spicy with that peppercorn coming through, but without too much taking over the beer.

A very refreshing saison.
