A small town brewery with the bar side like a sports bar with a dining room on the other side. The beer selection was around 15 taps. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. If I lived here I would stop a few times a month. Hopefully they step up the quality a little bit.

Atmosphere is that of a dive bar. It is poorly lit, but is clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and will go out of their way to answer any questions you may have about their beer. The food is descent but nothing worth recommending. I had a sampler of 8 beers. Two of which were descent but the rest were mediocre to below average. I may return one day to see if things have improved any but will not be going out of my way to drink here again anytime soon.

Another stop in the wife and my tour of some of the lesser known MI brewpubs. Arrived shortly after opening on a Saturday and were the only people in the place. We sat at the bar, and were greeted by a very nice server, Christina. She was a very interesting and friendly person who took the time to tell us about their beers, wines, meads, and spirits. The stop would have been rather boring (as the place was empty) were it not for her.

I tried a few beers, and all were pretty nice, my favorite being the rye ipa . My wife had a mead, which she really enjoyed. I believe there were around 10 beers on tap.

Food selection was rather limited, we had a cheese plate which was plentiful, and decent. Christina told us that ownership had changed recently, and that the new owner was looking to expand the food menu.

They also had some wines and beers available for carry out.

Nice stop.

I have been to the beer cellar 4 times, twice at lunch time and twice after dinner. The bar was not busy any of the times, the fiat time for lunch the serverce was great there were 3 to 4 other people in the bar well I was there the service was great. The problem was the next 3 times that I've been there the service was bad or worse, two of the times the servers were high and the smell of pot was coming inside of the bar from outside. Once we waited 30 min to get service till we closed our tabs at the bar. The food is good but the ventilation sucks and the smell of the kitchen battles the smell of pot coming from outside. The beers are good which is the own reason that I have been there more then twice.

Made a special trip out to Sparta just go stop here today, and to also get a Michigan beer guide.

When walking in the place your presented with a spacious, relaxing room that has a nice bar on the right and a area in the center that has lounge chairs, tables and a stage for a band. The atmosphere is very inviting and I can imagine being quite enjoyable on a busy night. ( I was there in the afternoon)

The overall quality of the beers weren't bad. Each beer that I tried was remote to the style depicted and though they weren't ground breaking, they were enjoyable. I ended up having a sampler which included a Blonde Ale, Smoked Porter, Oatmeal Stout and Black Magic Rye PA, also had a 10 oz Dunkelweizen too.

The service at the Michigan Beer Cellar was quite good, each of the bartenders were very attentive, helpful and knew about the style they were pouring. Though I have to say it's hard in a ways to judge being that there were only 2 other people in there besides myself, but on that judgment alone it went well.

The overall selection was remotely standard, though they had quite a few IPA's than most breweries have on tap at a time, being 5 if I counted right. There were also the ones I mentioned above, plus a "summer sunrise," and a light beer. Basically something for everyone, which is always good.

The food was excellent. They mainly have sandwiches, appetizers and "snack trays", I ended up getting a Ham, cheese and Salsa sandwich which was quite good. So a nice selection of food to have for lunch, dinner or just hanging out with friends.

The value was pretty reasonable, with beer being 3.50 a pint (I'm assuming, they didn't list a size), 6 bucks for 4 5 oz samples, and the sandwiches were relatively 6-7 bucks. The appetizers were only 3 bucks and the snack tray started out at 1.50 so not bad at all.

Overall, it was a nice place to visit and would be perfect for a night out...they have bands 2 times a week I believe and I could see myself returning to try out newer beers and food. If you're ever in the area of Sparta, or Grand Rapids (it's about 15/20 min north I believe) stop in and check this place out!

This micro brewery/winery/distillery is located slightly outside of Sparta in a large open building. Everything was clean, no smoke smell, and no stale beer smell. They serve their MicroBrews, wines and sprits, and the selection runs the gamut from English to Belgian. I tried the English Pale ale, and it was very mild and inoffensive, which is what I want in a EPA. The service was great. The bartender Carla was very nice and we chatted for several minutes as it was slow. I also talked to the brewer for a while. While I didn't try any food, they had sandwiches, chips and pretzels. The prices didn't seem to high, I think a pint was $3.

All in all, while the building wasn't particularly swanky or anything, there was nothing wrong with it and the beer was very good, although I did only have one beer. I plan on going back soon with my buddies, and trying more of them. This place is worth a shot.
