Service can be slow and pretty bad, but the craft beer selection is pretty good. Their food is now over priced and the quality of everything other than the beer has gone down since they sold out. Over crowded, and under-educated (regarding their server's knowledge of beer).

Having a lot of drafts is only worth it IMO if you have diffent things. Carrying mainly all flagship beers is not worth paying the price for the draft. If you want to try flagship beers, go to your bottle shop and get a mixed 6 pack for $15-$18 rather than 6 pints here for $35. Food okay.

I've got to say - I'm not a big fan of Taco Mac. They have a massive amount of taps, but it's more a sports bar than a great place to enjoy a good beer. It's a great place to watch a game and enjoy a brew - but the beers are too expensive and the food (what I've had at least) was pretty average. There are far better beer experiences to be had in Charlotte.

Upon entering you realize it's a glorified sports bar, nothing wrong with that but on game nights it gets quite crowded. The food, at least what I had, was so-so. I went for the wings and they were nothing special. This trip was a late lunch and there was a sparse crowd, the service was slow at best.

The beer selection is second to none in Charlotte. With rotating offerings and monthly specials. I opted for a stand-by beer that I had tried before since I was eating, Carolina Blonde. The selection, like I said, was incredible but all was pricey. Ranging from $3.75 a pint for domestic swill beer to over $9.00 a pint for some specialties. I found the prices to be a bit high.

All and all in Charlotte it's a nice stop. I will be back here again.

The beer selection is awesome and always changing, but the server knowledge is lacking and a little on the pricey side. They have a beer club. I tried Moo-Hoo for the first time here, I will never forget. I love the flights.

The food selection is a little "Bar-y", but they do have other alternatives like salads and such. This a good sports bar with tons of TV's for men to lose their mind on so consequently the place is packed on game nights.

It is South Charlotte, so the parking is a bit of a pain the arse. The parking deck is helpful.

Don't go for the food b/c its not very good. The buffalo chicken tacos are okay though. The layout is incredible though - awesome TV's EVERYWHERE. They have more beers on tap than anywhere I have been too - I need to start going there more to try them. They also have awesome tables where you can have multiple taps added and routed to the table for you to poor yourself. It monitors how much you poor and charges you based on the volumes. Great if you have a few beers you really know you like and want to mix up with a group.

I was never attracted to Taco Mac for the sports aspect, but the setup they have is pretty hard to beat! HD TV's everywhere you look, and they can easily change them all to whatever sport you like. This means that it can get pretty loud if you manage to wander in when an important sporting event is going on.. The thing that has always turned my car to Taco Mac is the beer selection. They have your normal swill on draft, but they also keep a constantly fluctuating selection of Imports and Crafts in both draft and bottle. This one has 140 drafts to choose from! The loyalty program they have set up is free to join, allows you to get 6 credits a day (both of which set it above any other program I know of), has a long list of great rewards, and never resets forcing you to always be looking for new beers to try. The food is all pretty solid, and has been going through noticeable quality increases over the last few years. Most of it is pretty standard pub fair, but there is also a more Mexican geared portion of the menu that pushes the selection past most other chains around. And then there are the baked version of their already famous wings that are damn near impossible to beat!

A group of us went for a few beers and a late lunch during a recent visit. Not a big fan of this type of place and I knew why the minute I walked in the door.

Yes-tons of worthy taps, but the cold, corporate feel of this place hit me immediatly. Zero personality and character. Think of a glorified Applebees with over a 100 taps and dozens of flat screen TVs. Food was the expected middle of the road crap (think Applebees again).

When I visit a new town, I'm looking for the comfortable, more homie neighborhood joints, that have more character. Chains like this large, squeeky clean place leave me cold.

Bleh, one and done for me!

Thankfully none of my buddies wanted to go back here as the week continued...

I hate to wade into the Taco Mac reviews, as it seems that most reviewers here have an agenda, pro or con (mostly con). Hopefully, this review will be helpful to those who have not yet been there. If I want a quiet session with good beer, then I know to go elsewhere. If I'm in the mood to watch sports and have good beer, there is nowhere else in town that compares to Taco Mac in that respect. If I'm just reviewing the food and beer, The experience is somewhere in between. I like their wings better than just about anywhere in town (not breaded and ordered extra crispy). If you like hot wings, go one notch above your expected heat level, as they are mild compared to their description. They also have a great Queso Poblano, but the presentation has varied widely from one visit to the next. Service is usually decent. I've only rarely had a server that didn't have a working knowledge of beer styles. I've had one experience with poor service and the culprit was very apologetic, so I can overlook that. While Duckworth's, Vintner's , Pizza Peel, & Revolution may win out for the percentage of top quality beers on tap, the sheer number of taps at this place guarantees that you will be able to drink as much as you should in one evening and not be searching for a good beer to have next. They tend to go way overboard on price if a beer is particularly sought out, and I don't like that aspect of Taco Mac (EG, $9.00 for a glass of draught Chimay White), but the food is reasonably priced and most beers are within range, but probably 25-50 cents above what you could pay elsewhere. So, if you're OK with a sports bar atmosphere, you should definitely check this place out. If you're looking for a quiet place to discuss the beer in front of you, go somewhere else (I'd go to Vintner's) and don't complain about Taco Mac's shortcomings.

The food? Cheap and not bad. About at the level of, say, chilis.
The beer? Well, for charlotte, it's a nice selection. While places like duckworth's miss out on a lot of taps due to limited space (I think they go way too heavy on porters and stouts), taco mac offers a variety of well known craft brews and a lot of local beers, so kudos to them for that. Beers that they have that stand out? Ska Modus Hoperandi, Southern Tier (Their IPA lineup), and now, they have a lot of great selections from Sweetwater. So, what can I say? I like taco mac. Yes, it's loud. Yes, it has a lot of macro selections. But at the end of the day, it's (reasonably) good food, good sports, and great beer. So what if they don't have the oddball choices duckworth's has? So long as they keep bringing the IPA's, I'm all for them.

The place is really loud -- but I also remember that it is a sports bar. It has like a thousand televisions with every possible game on one of them. They have plenty of craft beer decorations and such and the tables are really clean and the lighting is just right. The quality of the beer and food is really on par and it is one of the better places I have been although Charlotte has plenty of better places. The service leaves a lot to be desired and they are more than slow, but the food was still hot and the beer was cold, so not too much of a complaint. Selection is fantastic as far as American adjunct lagers go. They really cater to the mainstream beer consumer (especially as far as bottles go.) Draft is pretty good and I didn't order anything that they didn't have ready to go. Food was good. Good wings and a great sandwich. So kudos om that. A little pricey, but for the area that is expected.

Aye taco mac, how to review you? On one hand, a rating of 3.35 is absolutely ridiculous. Maybe if this place was in San Francisco it would rate that poorly, but this is Charlotte, and the alternatives aren't abundant.

It currently ranks below places like the Philosophers Stone and Thomas Street Tavern, which are barely BA-worthy, though probably better hangouts.

I knew there was a Taco Mac in Charlotte and i knew it was in the South Park area, but i had no idea idea it was in such a trendy little circle, surrounded by restaurants offering infinitely better food on all sides. Try Georges Brasserie for some of the best dishes in the entire city.

anyways, taco mac is a sports bar. They have a lot of tv's playing a lot of different stuff and theres bad music in the background. Our bartender wasnt a beer expert, but was competent. There is lots of local beer swag on the walls, some of which is pretty cool.

The selection is pretty deep with 140 taps, but as expected, i was pretty on point at ordering things that no longer existed (sculpin, sweetwater dipa). I did wind up with an olde hickory hickory stick, terrapin hoppsecutioner and duck rabbit schwarzbier. The analogy was already posed but it bears repeating - out of 140 taps, maybe 50 are worthy of consideration and when you compare that 50 up against the 50 at duckworths, you start to wonder why you are even at taco mac in the first place.

everthing i ordered was in a pint, none of which were frozen for those that are interested in that sort of trivia. We refused to eat there but did order some chips (from a bag) and salsa (from a jar).

I don't need to go back, but christ, its not that bad.

(Stands up) "My name is KEXP, and I'm a Taco Mac fan." The amount of flak this place receives in the message boards and in some of the other reviews for this place is not justified. I have been there a number of times for just beer, for dinner and for lunch. I give the atmosphere a fairly high mark because the place is the best sports bar in Charlotte. If you are looking for a quaint spot ilke the downstairs of the Thirsty Monk in Asheville, then this is not your place (and I do love me some Thirsty Monk). But if you, like me, happen to like large TVs showing games and a little bit of bustle in the atmosphere, then this place has what you seek. Selection is fantastic, with 140 taps. Of those, I'd say half are good craft, and that ain't too shabby. The food is good bar food. I'd say the buffalo chicken tacos are my favorite. Service is friendly and zealous, sometimes too much so. But that is much better than the opposite. I have never SEEN a frosted beer glass in the place, by the way. Prices on beer are high. But I am willing to pay them due to the convenience of TM's location and excellent selection. I can't think of a better place outside the house to see a game.

I stopped in over the weekend to check out the new Taco Mac, watch some football, and drink a couple beers that we don't get in GA

The place isn't hard to find, though it is slightly off the main road. Adequate parking is available in what seems to be a mixed-use development. There is a fairly large outdoor seating area. The bar inside is quite cavernous - high ceilings with the newer "modern" Taco Mac finish. There are two smaller upstairs seating areas that may be more quaint and quiet if that is your preference. Nothing too special

It wasn't hard for me to find a good beer as I happened to sit down right in front of the Sculpin tap - and, admittedly to my surprise, it was still available :) I counted around 25 beers of the 140 taps that aren't available in GA - a few Ballast Point, Green Flash, Bear Republic, and even some random things like Ska Modus Hopperandi. Being NC, the locals were represented well too, with Duck-Rabbit, Foothills, Olde Mecklenberg, etc. You also get the crap beers taking tap space, but overall, there is a pretty wide selection.

Beer quality was good, but I must add the disclaimer that one of the beers I ordered simply doesn't last long enough to go bad anywhere (Sculpin), and the place has only been open for a couple weeks. Truthfully, whether or not they can keep up the good quality, or slip into the average (or worse) range, remains to be seen

The value is reasonable to me - I forgot to take note of the food prices, but the beers were actually slightly cheaper than in Atlanta, using Sweetwater beers as a benchmark (despite them being FROM Atlanta.. wtf, Atlanta?) FWIW - Revolution Pizza sells the same pint of Sweetwater for $0,25 cheaper than Taco Mac, which is an insignificant deviation to me

Its funny how days can vary - one reviewer thinks they were possibly understaffed, and I actually thought they were a bit overstaffed (the crowds were still filling in). This led to some great service for me, and it was actually one of the better experiences I've had with Taco Mac - the people were all very friendly, and, in something that I don't think they do enough of in Atlanta, they worked as a team -- I was served by three different people between my beer and food orders. This was a welcome surprise.

Food is very average for bar food - I'm not a huge fan, but its edible.

My stop at Taco Mac South Park turned to be a very pleasant surprise - it would rank among the better stores in Atlanta, for sure. Seems like they are experiencing some growing pains, and are adapting as they go, so it will be nice to see where they go from here. I'll be sure to stop back next time I'm in the area

this place sucks the big one. me and my wife went here and ordered our beers from their "140 taps" which wasnt even a good selection. if u want a good selection i would say go to duckworths they only have 60 taps but the 60 they have is better than the 140 that taco mac has... the burger that i ordered tasted like f***ing charcoal it was so overdone, my wife ordered 2 tacos that were way overpriced and came with no side dish... oh and we ordered our beers drank about half the glass then got i.d.ed so if you are A.L.E. go to taco mac and drink.. this place is horribe and i will never go back!!! super expensive for the burger king grade food..

STAY AWAY from taco mac.

So the much anticipated Taco Mac is finally open in Charlotte. I have heard so much (good and bad) about this chain, so I decided to find out for myself.

The place has a typical chain restaurant, sports bar appeal. Lots of TV's, if there is a game on you should be able to find it on one of the TV's. When you first approach the place you see all of the outdoor seating, which is nice if you are not interested in the sports bar scene inside. Once you walk in you see that the place is huge. Tons of seating, some of the tables have taps at the table. There is also an upstairs seating area. The place is very chain restaurant esque.

The service was slow and not overly friendly. I don't know if the place was understaffed when I was there or if they are still getting used to thier jobs as the place has only been open for a couple of weeks.

The menu was OK, nothing special, but not bad either. Reminds me of a Ruby Tuesday or TGI Fridays. I ordered a burger and fries, and had no complaints. The beer menu us huge (140 taps), an awful lot of those taps are devoted to Macro. Really there were only a couple of taps that I was really impressed with.

This place was not bad, but I think Duckworths is still the best beer destination in Charlotte.
