Pours a slightly hazy, golden orange, thin but sticky pure white lacing strewn across the rim of the glass. The color certainly is alluring, and consistent with a very nice IPA.
Sticky, sweet, citrusy hops prevail on the nose; it gets more depth the more you follow up with taking a nice whiff. Tangerine up front, grapefruit and orange in the backend.
Dry, relatively prickly hops from start to finish, nice and straight to the point. This really is pretty solid so far.
Just the right carbonation to bring the dryness to an optimal level. I didnt really know much about this brewery until today, but this gets them off on the right foot. Delicious.

Pours from the bottle a deep, dark amber orange with a slight red tint. A nice froth of head forms and lingers leaving small spotty lacing in its wake. Aromas bring a nice caramelly malt background tied in with fresh grapefruity, piney hop aromas. Grapefruits growing on a pine tree? Nice and resiny with a slight bready background.

First sip brings a well built caramel, bready malt backbone enhanced with a dose of citrusy, piney hop resins and oils that manage to attack every corner of my mouth. Bitter on the back of the palate but not overly so....well placed. Finishes with a hint of sourdough. An enjoyable IPA overall with a bright citrusy/grapefruit hop profile.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with widespread carbonation. Rolls across the tongue nicely with a bit of creaminess. Not an overly bitter or challenging IPA...just a tasty, hoppy brew that's easy to put down and satisfying. Thanks to MuddyFeet and BIF20 for this one!

Pours beautifully into my pint glass with an offwhite head that crowned just over the top but held on without overflowing. Slowly reduced in rocky mounds. Caramel body sits quietly underneath supporting the foam cap above.

Aroma is filled with hops, some floral and some herbal straw varieties. Some biscuit and caramel malt supports the hops well. Resinous hops immediately take hold. Some herbalness is apparent as well. Not as sweet as the aroma indicated, but still has some biscuit hanging in there. A very nicely balanced beer, with a typical "east coast" IPA flavor.

Mouthfeel is a touch thin for the style. Drinkability is really good on this one. Nicely done.

12 oz bottle obtained via trade with Brewfan. Many thanks! Pours a hazed, burnt orange body with a full two inch head that is beige and creamy. Excellent retention and lots of sticky patch lace adorns the glass as is empties. Aroma is sharp with Chinook and Amarillo hops. Tangy citrusy grapefruit has a green and leafy hop edge. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with an ideal carbonation and zesty hops zing. Taste is dry and bitter hoppiness. Lots of grapefruit here, with a touch of lemonrind. Very little malt balance, as this one is all about the hops. Finish is long and bitter, with a dry citrusrind aftertaste. Very nice for the style, and an IPA that would make a nice little session ale. Just a bit too hoppy bitter for my palate, but this one is a hophead's dream.

Grabbed a six pack at Luke's Liquors in Rockland, MA during an Offshore tasting with Konobrewer.

Beautiful head on this brew. Thick, rich and creamy. Sheets of lacing adorn the innards of my Harpoon IPA glass. Pungent hoppy aroma makes me smile, in a good way. Amazed by the smoothness of this brew. Just enough flavor but goes down easy. Almost nothing in the way of aftertaste, which is pleasing to me.

I'd love to see Offshore take it's place with Sam Adams and Harpoon in Massachusetts someday. If Matthew keeps turning out beers like this it shouldn't be too far away.

First had this on tap at the Cambridge Common / LL a couple months back...most recently on tap at the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth (one hell of a good time). Sixers and cases finally available at Lukes in I can sit home and have this gem of an IPA.
Pours a clear golden copper color w/ two full fingers of sudsy off-white head..lacing is very web-like and has great cling w/ only half of it creeping back into the pint...the rest stays put.
Aroma is enjoyable...spiced hops and plenty of sweet malt to pull me in.
The taste is even more enjoyable then I recall on tap...maybe because both those places serve their beers a bit too chilled IMHO.
The bitterness and sweetness levels are such a brilliant balance and the hops are just enough to give you no doubt this one is an IPA from first sip to final swig.
Mouthfeel is perfect and the finish is very clean...carbonation is complemented by the bitter finish.
I may recall someone saying they might kick this up a notch w/ the hops...can't say it needs it, but I can honestly say I would enjoy it even more. What can I say, I love me some hops.
Great job Offshore...all the beers I have tasted from them have been a real treat. Next up, a visit.

HogHill sent me a couple of these beers from Martha’s Vineyard. Good guy, HogHill.

This poured a nice copper with generous head. The aroma has a malty foreground with hops kicking in there with a little sweetness. Before I could really grasp the taste, I put half of the 12 ounces into my belly. It was refreshing, with a good hop presence. The malt was very prevalent. The hops provided a bitter but pleasant aftertaste. Reminded me of my college days when I drank enough Harpoon IPA to bitter my blood for several generations. I could drink a few these quite happily.

This is another of your 'good' IPAs.
Pours a dirty golden orange with a nice head that melts to some very sticky lacing.
Aromas are sweet malts and lots of fresh pine oil and citrus peel hops. Something very clean about the aroma.
Flavors do not disappoint...again, sweet pale malt to start with that is followed with the hops...not too bitter, but a most definite presence delighting the tongue and then leaving your mouth with a clean and dry taste with just a bit of grapefruit peel bitterness at the end.

A wonderful summer beer.

Offshore- IPA

On tap at the brewpub

A- Deep clear copper brown with a small sticky head.
S- Sweet pine resin with huge citrus rind bitterness.
T- Sweeet sugary citrus; grapefruit, lemon, and orange, with a big hoppy pine kick.
M- Sweet citrus dominates the front end with a sweeet malty body and a big bitter sweet hoppy finish.

Overall- Sessionable and another excellent beer from Offshore! 2 for 2 on my trip to Martha's Vineyard!

Gold amber with big white head. Good lacing everywhere. Smells nicely hoppy with a little bit of bread holding it together. Tastes like an explosion of bitter hops, salty and dry citric like crazy. Mouthfeel's good and easy to drink.

I've been having a lot of stouts lately and the hoppiness took me by a good way

12oz single, obtained as an extra in a trade with brewfan

appearance: poured into a sweetwater pint glass...body is a very hazy golden amber, frothy white head with some pretty nice lacing left behind.

smell: interesting fruit aromas highlighted by tangerine and apricot outside of the normal citrus aromas...well hopped and full of sweetness, nice malt compliment provided in the aroma as well

taste: again, i get a big tangerine flavor right off the bat which is pretty nice. nice hoppy flavour highlighed by the chinook and amarillo varieties used...pulpy ruby red grapefruit...interesting and different IPA as this is very pulpy and the fruit flavours are pretty original for the style. i dig it

mouthfeel: pulpy, light bitterness

drinkability: easy street

A: Slightly cloudy goldish red color with some sediment. The head is about an inch thick and fluffy white with ok head retention and some lacing.

S: Nice floral and pine hop aroma. Slightly soapy aroma as well and a touch of caramel in the background.

T: Initial pine flavor with caramel and bready understones. Some floral and herbal notes. Not as crisp hop as i would have liked

M: Slightly bit of harshness in the feel. No heat. Decent amount of body, but overall well balanced

D: Easy drinking IPA, with some flaws but overall enjoyable

This beer had a deep orange color and a respectable head that stuck around. I found it to be kind of thin in terms of mouthfeel. The hop flavor and aroma was not as strong as some other IPAs. The hop flavor and bitterness did seem to linger a bit longer than an average IPA.

I could certainly drink a few of these because of the non-overpowering bitterness that some of the IPAs have.

Pours a hazy amber/golden color with a thin white head. Aroma has strong floral, citrus and earthy hop scents with a grassy, and slightly sour background. Taste begins with floral, earthy and mineraly hops flavor and a grass and bread malt flavor. Mouthfeel is thin for the style and the finish is dry and bitter. A descent IPA, but not something to go out of your way for.

Julios Spring Beer Festival. Distant aroma of Cascade. Pour of clear amber. Soapy head of ivory. Rich heavy malted grains, with a profile of grassy hops, very dryed out, with touches of galangal, grapefruit and a touch of cream. I think this is well malted, but needs a less acerbic and biting hop profile. Finishes with light resins. Quite drinkable, I think.

Light-orange in color, this beer is only slightly hazy. A foamy, rocky head rests at the top and takes significant time to reduce.

The smell is a somewhat powerful wave of hops, some spiciness, a woody herbal aroma, and a little citrus. It is mouth-watering.

The taste is a bit understated for an American IPA - not overpowering, to get full flavor from it, be sure not to serve it too cold. The significant bitterness is enjoyable. The flavor is of hops, spicy and floral, but there is some malt in the background. There is a dry, sharp, floral aftertaste, a little chalky, which rests bitterly on my tongue, but is not unpleasant.

This beer has a light mouthfeel, with medium-heavy carbonation.

It is not the hoppiest of IPAs, but still it is refreshing, tasty and drinkable. I think the beer would be improved with more body, more foundation for the taste, and an improvement in the mouthfeel and aftertaste.

purchased at nikki's liquors in warwick, ri on 1/3/08.

12 oz. bottle poured into a standard pint glass. sunset copper (bordering on burnt sienna) fills the glass and settles toward the top with a billowy, two-finger head resembling burnt marshmallow. yeast sediment gives the appearance of cinnamon sprinkles atop the foam. stick appeal was minimal.

offshore ale co. proclaims that malt is the "soul of our brews." ditto. extremely grainy in the nose with hints, though subtle, of hop aroma. some citrus, spice, and earth tones detected.

taste was somewhat disappointing for me as a fan of this style. i did not get the balance of other standouts in this class. solid malt backbone and some spiciness, but lacking the floral and citrus hops i prefer.

slightly oily teetering on semi-medium carbonation.

not a bad abv at 6.2%, yet i'm not in a hurry to grab another. it would certainly be easy to consume a few of these during a session, but you'd have to be in love with the taste first.

Thanks to TheManiacalOne for allowing me to get my hands on a few East Coast IPAs.

A: Amber honey hue, creamy head
S: Citrus, banana, green apples, floral hops
T: at first taste, a hop bite invited me in to some green apples, grapefruit and a nice combination with some malt
M: easy on the tongue, and well balanced. Leaves little or no aftertaste. A nice IPA to drink
