Bottle from Chinchikurin in LA

Look: Hazy straw yellow with a thick white head.

Smell: Very light. Lemon zest, wheat, fruity yeast and that is about it.

Taste: Very light again. Everything is subtle. Lemongrass, wheat sweetness, fruity weizen yeast, and a bready malt.

Feel: Clean and easy drinking. Soft carbonation, dry finish. No bitterness. No alcohol.

Overall: A fine wheat beer in a very subtle package. There is something to be said about subtly but I wanted more of anything in this beer.

Cloudy and very pale yellow with a tall snow white colored head.

Smells strongly of yeast and bread. Cloves. Banana is the weakest of the scents here.

Starts out sweet and strong on the toasted grain flavor. Banana and cloves. The taste is much more banana than the smell. Mildly bitter. Still not a strongly flavored beer.

Mouthfeel is average for a wheat beer.

Overall it is simple and straight forward. It's Hefeweizen.

Consistent golden hazy color. Very minimal head. Almost no smell, only a very mild yeasty smell. Much more complexity in the flavors than in the smell. A mellow umami tasting malt as the base, with a slight hoppiness. A bit of a acidity and citrus flavor. Very similar to a witbir in taste. Mouthfeel on this one is excellent, and is the best part of this beer. Very pleasant thick and effervescent mouthfeel.

Overall, this beer doesn't really push any boundaries and plays it safe, but is a very drinkable beer that will provide a pleasant experience.

Pours a very weird-looking shade of brownish-gray. Never seen a beer of this color before. Way more gray hues than any other beer I've ever had. Not much in the way of head or lacing. The nose is sweet with honey notes and some biscuit. The flavor is not particularly strong (it has the watery character or a Mild) and it's dominated by wheat-y and honey flavors. It doesn't feel like a weizenbock, even though it does have some overlapping elements.

A three finger white head with excellent retention. The beer is a light straw color and is hazy.

N: orange banana phenolic, wheat, grass, toasted malt, caramel, floral.

T: Banana phenolic, wheat, hay, wheat, toasted malt caramel, and floral

M: creamy, carbonated, and medium body.

O: The beer is very good the flavors are a bit muted for what I have tasted else where. Nonetheless a good offering.

Slightly sweet, banana phenolics are te prominent aroma and taste but in general a more subtle beer style. Nice texture and certainly very drinkable representation of the style. A tick sweet for my taste.

330mL bottle poured into can glass. Beer is very pale yellow in color, completely free of wheaty haze, but forms a nice white head. Aroma I can only describe as "hella banana". Flavor is exceedingly weak, watery even. Inoffensive and bland. The label claims only that this is wheat beer, which may be true in the sense that the brewers used wheat in order to keep the flavor turned down. To claim this beer is a Weizenbock seems a joke -- can a weizenbock be this weak, this low ABV? Sure this is a technicality if not an error.

A: The beer is hazy pale yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a white collar consisting of large bubbles around the edge of the glass and a thin layer of bubbles covering the remainder of the surface.
S: Light aromas of apples and wheat are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has light flavors of apples and wheat.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied, slightly watery, and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite easy to drink for a weizenbock, especially since any traces of alcohol are well hidden. It also feels a little lighter in body compared to other beers in the style.

Light colored banana peel yellow, cloudy in the body, and topped with an inch of creamy head on the pour. It looks like an authentic hefeweizen. However, it smells like an imported lager with its stinky, sulfry aroma. A faint note of vanilla makes the only positive thing coming from the aroma.

I'm confused. Kawaba Weizen does not taste at all like a hefewezien. In tastes like an imported lager with a sulfury aspect, albeit a creamier smoother beer than said stereotype. There's a whisper of banana, but not much else happening in what is often an eventful style.

Kawaba has not impressed me in two tries. Could third time be the charm? It better be if I am to continue dropping a Lincoln for a single bottle.

330ml bottle, 5% ABV, merely labeled "Weizen" not "Snow Weizen." And this is most certainly not a weizenbock.

A very small amount of head forms and dissipates quickly. Body is turbid and straw-colored. Aroma gives off a weakly spicy quality with just a little vanilla sweetness; a touch of butter comes through after a couple minutes. Flavor is watery with just a little vanilla sweetness, some citrusy tartness follows; finish is grainy. Very soft carbonation with a crisp bite; body is medium-light.

Overall very unremarkable—visually unappealing, and the flavors and aromas are neither very pronounced nor especially pleasant.

Pours straw-yellow with a half inch head that dissipates quiqly. Interestingly, it seems like the head starts to grow a little out of the already-poured beer shortly after I poured it.

Smell is faint, but has hints of light grain, caramel, and citrus.

Tastes is strong for a hefeweizen (I believe that is what this beer is, and not weizenbock, as is said in the description). The alcohol content is somewhere around 5-6% in my opinion. Tastes of sour apple, line, and orange peels. There is a sweet element to it, maybe maple syrop.

The beer is medium-bodied, moderately carbonated, with a strong "bite" on the tongue - both from flavor and carbonation.

Overall, it is a drinkable hafe from Japan, that brings something unique to the table and can stand it's own among other comparable beers.

Pours a murky light yellow with a foamy khaki bone colored that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy chunks of lace slowly drop into the remaining beer on the drink down. Small particles of sediment sink to the bottom of the glass after the pour. Smell is of malt, wheat, and some subdued grassy and yeast aromas. There are some fruity aromas that come out as the beer warms up. Taste is much the same with fruity and slight spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has some interesting flavors that are better than the smell.
